I had a similar experience with my dog Jed it is horrific to witness but he recovered well and although he lost an alarming amount of weight in a short period he enjoyed putting it back on! Best wishes to Fifi for a speedy recovery.

Thank you - - I've just been to see Fifi and although still very sorry for herself and not completely out of the woods she has improved. We'll be back to see her later today. The vet said it was the first case that she'd seen in a while but would be expecting more as they normally come in batches. So glad it's nothing we've done - such a worry for first timers. Be extra vigilant everyone - we didn't get much warning at all - one episode of vomiting at around 3pm and then she was very quiet until about 7 when she drank a lot of water & then turned very poorly. Luckily we'd got her to the vet before her first very bloody explosion. Thankfully she's received the very best care x

Our local vet said there had been a lot of cases lately- in all kinds of breeds. So maybe just one of those things - one of our others had it couple of years ago and that came out of the blue, so sure it’s nothing you could have controlled. Xxx

Thanks for all your support - really helped me get through the night. Fifi lost a lot of blood yesterday evening and throughout the night. She had a blood transfusion early this morning. The vet has told us she has responded well to the transfusion and hasn't lost any blood since. We're racking our brains to try and work out what could have caused such a horrible illness. Will keep you updated once we've seen her later today xx

Nasty for Fifi - Jato has been in and out of vets after her duvet eating she developed HGE - vets not sure if the duvet irritated her insides or she eat it cos she felt pants ! Love to you all. It’s two weeks tomorrow and she still isn’t herself but seemed better today. Xxx

  • 2019 Daybreaks Diary!

    I’m Homed

It was a busy day. 🙂 Our lovely Rose went home this morning. She is such a very sweet girl lots of love to her and her new family. The very handsome Ben was reserved this afternoon. 🙂 x Fabulous news of the day Nick has been fostered! Fingers crossed all goes well. He really needs a break from kennel life and to give him a chance to fully recover from his squirrel chasing, gate crashing accident! Earlier this evening his Foster Dad sent a photo of Nick fast asleep on the sofa, he has made himself at home. :)) x Jess had several pampers today. Great to see lots of lovely doggies, they all left looking and smelling great! Xx One of the boys had a big spot on his head...Everyone knows how much Ruth likes to treat spots! He left without it! :))) It was great to see past Greyhound Grapevine cover boy Star. He came for a nail clipping. He is going a little grey now, but still a very handsome lad. :)) Despite the weather our brave volunteers took all our residents out for morning and afternoon walks. Two legged and four legged walkers looked quite bedraggled on their return from the last walk this afternoon. Thank you all so much. Xx Thank you to everyone for their help today. We had two lovely new volunteers come along first thing this morning to help with feeding and cleaning. Xx According to my diary tomorrow is the first day of Autumn...before we left this evening all the dogs had fleecy coats on. If you need any coats for your Greyhound we have a new stock of Fleeces and Winter Blizzards on sale at the kennels to keep them cozy. 🙂 Xxx

    I’m Homed

Teddy is still taking antibiotics for his poorly paw. It would be great if he could find his forever home or a foster home for a while. I'm sure his paw would heal a lot quicker. It's difficult to keep it clean and dry in a kennel environment. He is a very sweet lad who just needs soemeone to love him and take care of him. 🙁 Sending him my cuddle tonight. Xxx
