The paper shredder Barney has been at it again. Came home from work and my newspaper is in bits all over the living room (He don’t like The Sun) After picking it all up and putting in the bin he takes it out and puts it back on the floor. He gets a treat and I get a lecture off the wife for being stupid enough to leave it there. He can do no wrong ????

  • 2019 Daybreaks Diary!

    I’m Homed

It was a quiet Friday today, only a couple of visitors through the door all day - but one of those visitors ended up reserving the lovely Nanny! We had lots of helpers, including a volunteer from HSBC, so the boys & girls had two walks and the more energetic ones had some sand run playtime this afternoon too. As it was so quiet I went on another mopping and cleaning mission round the kennels! It makes me smile when mopping the block corridors to see the different reactions from the inmates. Some can't even be bothered to lift their heads to look, whilst with others it's just like Wimbledon as their heads follow the mop back and forth! Jet was fine today, he is such a gentle boy although he wasn't impressed when his pals went out on their walks and he had to stay behind! I've bought my tickets for the remembrance evening on 15th September, it will be such a lovely evening getting together to remember our hounds who are now playing at Rainbow Bridge. Give the kennels a call to reserve yours, or if you can't make it on the night we can light a candle on your behalf for a donation of £2.50 Well the weekend is upon us yet again, and as it's Friday it must be time for wine! I've had a lovely day today and am keeping my fingers crossed for some more red signs across the weekend. Thanks to all today's helpers, happy weekend all. Angie x

Leo, my lovely boy, if only we could see into the future, it's horrible how quickly things can go pear shaped. Yes, you were a pain in the butt sometimes but you were very special and we loved you dearly warts and all. I'm so sad we couldn't have had more time together, you've been taken far too soon. Pain free now at Rainbow Bridge and hopefully chasing your favourite squeaky tennis ball. Missing you so much. Sweet dreams my darling. xxx

Ripple how lovely to hear from you! You must get your house servants to get their act together! Not good enough they nearly forgot your Birthday! :)) Can't believe you are now eleven!! Great to hear you and Toney are loving your life by the sea. 🙂 Say Hello to your Mom and Dad for me. Lots of love Kate Xxx

Hi everyone, I am eleven now (much greyer than in these pictures) and my huservants almost forgot my birthday. I am still enjoying living near the sea, as I get lots of lovely walks and sometimes a nice sea breeze in the evenings when its hot. Toney loves walks on Tennyson down as there are lots of rabbits to smell and see. The soft grass is also kind to his corns and he even runs sometimes (too much like hard work for me, I might manage a trot if he is lucky). Hope all my friends are well and everyone at the kennels is still doing amazing work, finding homes for us lovely hounds. love Ripple and Toney.

    I’m Homed

It was Jet's turn to go off to the vets to be neutered today. Poor lad was very stressed at the vets. 🙁 Thankfully all went well and when I went to collect him this afternoon he was back to being his usual happy self and enjoyed some dinner. :)) Ruth had the very pleasent task of visiting Diddy and his new family to complete his adoption paperwork, we are all so very happy for him. Xxx Pete continued work on the kitchen, it's starting to take shape. Unfortunately he discovered more rotten wood than we expected so it has slowed things down a little. Thanks to Richard and Alan for putting the big board with all the kennel details on up on the wall. It's much easier to see who is where without having to grovel on the floor to read it! The Canine Massage Therapy ladies were here for the day. They loved all the dogs they worked on and the dogs loved all the extra attention! I watched them at work for a while. It was really interesting and quite a different type of Massage to what I was expecting. Greyhounds are good to work on as they really don't mind lieing still for a while! Many thanks to Alan and Paddy for bringing in doughnuts for us all and lots of tins of Sardines for our Daybreaks residents! Doughnuts are a Thursday fixture now!! :)) Thanks so much to everyone for their help today. Xxx

Daisydog has come through the operation. Hurrah! We both had a sleepless night but the girl is brave as brave can be. It’s a horrid wound - look at her blog via the link for pics - and she has been very spaced out today. But tea has been eaten, water drunk, cuddles received and tablets taken. Thank you so much for your good wishes - it’s so lovely to be part of this greyhound family. Xx
