Hey Barney, trying to steal it is not a good idea as the humans get upset, you need to position yourself close by and do the 'I've never been fed or tasted food like that' look. Be prepared to wait, I've discovered they can't resist but my humans won't give me any till they have finished eating. Today I got sausage, waffle and beans using this method! My food stealing abilities are going great. My humans seem to give me a treat before they have dinner. (They try to keep me from stealing their food) BUT I eat my treat as quickly as I can and then start going for their food. I’m only helping them it so I don’t know why they say no. I try to put my face in front of them and snif to see if it works unfortunately it doesn’t if anyone has any tips on how to steal human food please contact me. Barney Xx

I've been doing some training with the glorious Eillie - what a fabulous, clever girl she is 🙂 I use a clicker to mark the behaviour that I want and then drop a treat on the floor so she doesn't link hands with nice food 🙂 . She has responded really well - dropping squeaky toys when told 'leave it' (not always immediately but as good as my Greys LOL) , I've been doing some 'Eillie Come' with wide arm signals, clicker and high value treats to encourage her to come to you and begin to know her name and she loves 'working' and finally doing some Telllington TTouch to help her relax. She is just lovely 🙂 xx

Will is gorgeous, although I didn't walk him today (Lucy&Ellie beat me to it) I could see how amazing he is. He loves attention and gives the most wonderful cuddles, nuzzling at every available opportunity. He has excellent manners. Huge love for Will tonight xxx

Roxy is a super little girl. She is very lively and interested in everything. She can be strong on the lead wanting to be at the front of the group. She is delightful in the kennel with Will. She is also very pretty. xx

What a strikingly handsome boy Leo is. Had the absolute pleasure of walking him this afternoon. He walks beautifully on his lead and loves interaction with people I think this bright boy has a lot of love to give and he hopes his forever home wont be too far away. Cuddle for him tonight xx

We went for my walk this morning, now I love my walks but wasn't too excited when we entered the woods. Then I saw it and another suddenly there were three! Squiggles everywhere, they climbed up trees, ran across the path in front of me..... Mom said I was imagining them and I know she wouldn't lie to me so I guess she just couldn't see them! I got wound round trees, it was brilliant and mom even thanked me for wrenching her arm out of its socket - still looks attached to me! Lubs Florence xx

2019 Daybreaks Diary!

A fairly quiet day today. All dogs managed to have morning walks. As we were short of volunteers this afternoon the kids all had a play with some toys in the run. Thank you to our volunteers for all your help today, as always much appreciated. We did have 2 bookings for the newly extended sand run, I think all the dogs enjoyed it. Thanks too for the donations of bedding, toys, doggie stuff and treats. Sadly no viewings today, fingers crossed for a good week on that front. X

2019 Daybreaks Diary!

No homes found for any of our residents today 🙁 Fingers crossed for tomorrow. Thank you to all our visitors today. Thank you to everyone who popped in and donated bedding and food. 🙂 We are so grateful. Our lovely previous Daybreaks lad Coffee paid us a visit with his Mom. He looks so happy:) It's so nice when we see old faces, wonderful to see them enjoying their new lives after their racing is over. 🙂 xx We also saw Nifty after he had been helping show people how brilliant Greyhounds are at Melbicks. He was so proud wearing his "uniform" It tells everybody he is happy and homed. :))) Thanks for everyone's help today. Xxx

hooray" Fat neck Finn has gone down a hole on his collar ! but alas has now gone up a hip size. Think it may be comfort eating due r the "cat attack" Has barney had some trauma to make him go back to shredding I wonder? Finn would like to shred the cat but I told him aunty Ruth would not approve of that and anyway he would no doubt come off worse again. lol
