Caro, I absolutely think you are doing the right thing, I wouldn't put my 10 year old through anything like that, as long as Jed is pain free,m happy and still eating that's the main thing, just enjoy your boy and hopefully you will have lots more happy times to come. Xxxxx

I dropped a bag of food off to Stefie on my way to pick Roary up from the vets this afternoon. What a fantastic greeting he gave me! Thanks so much to his Mom and Dad for giving him a wonderful home, they love him so much and he adores them. It really cheered me up! :))) Xxx

    I’m Homed

Ruth dropped Roary off at the the vets for his neutering operation this morning and I collected him this afternoon. He was still a little drowsy when he got back to the kennels. Hopefully after a good nights sleep he will feel better. We had two lovely new arrivals today, Fifi and Mags, both very pretty girls. Fifi is a very happy and affectionate girl. Mags is very shy but has already been reserved! Bless her. Xx Pete out lovely carpenter was in working on the kitchen, it is beginning to take shape. We are so grateful for all his hard work, even if he is getting very demanding when it comes to cups of tea! Xx We had a visit from a great couple of photographers who took pictures of all the dogs for their Facebook page and also for us to use on our website. Many thanks to them for spending such a long time with our residents. They both fell in love with them all! We are very, very grateful for all the donations of fish and meat we have received this week. But wouldn't say no to some more!! xx Thanks to everyone for their help today! Xxx

  • Jed

    Over the Rainbow Bridge

Well the vet is not sure why Jed is limping, X-rays show nothing, no tumours, arthritis etc. Jed had another extensive examination in which the vet pressed very hard on spine, legs etc not a whimper. The only option open is a CT scan but I have to be prepared to go with the findings. To have a CT scan means a GA which Jed is really poor with and if it is spinal that could mean surgery and 6 months post op recovery. Jed is 10 and half and I have decided not to proceed with course of action but to keep him pain free on anti inflammatories and pain relief and let him enjoy his twilight years rotating from bed to bed which he has done for the last 5 years I have had the privilege of being his hooman. If he feels like a decent walk then we take one if he only wants a short potter then that’s what we do. I know some may disagree with this course of action but this decision has been taken with a lot of thought and discussion with my vet who supports this. I have tried to put Jed’s best interests first. Jed apppears happy is eating and maintaining his weight.

  • 2019 Daybreaks Diary!

    I’m Homed

I have every thing crossed that this bank holiday weekend brings potential owners to the kennels as there seem to be so many lovely greys there waiting.Jay and Petal are doing really well, thr later is a real affectionate little girl and has this sweet habit of bringing our garden shoes, watches ,draft excluder etc into her bed if we are not in the room with her!!!I have handed her walking over to Barry for now as she is still very keen with cats and small dogs,he has done well with Jay as he just whines a bit but doesn't react unless they run!!!
