Handsome Mr. Fox became a blood donor for the Pet Blood Bank today! Later this afternoon he met a lovely Spaniel, he was great with him. Xxx He is such a good boy! Xxx

It was a busy day today.....the Pet Blood Bank came for the day. It was great to see ex Daybreaks Residents Barney, Nadia, Sammy, Shadow, Frieda and Betty all give donations. :)) Due to a medical condition, Alan's lovely girl Belle, has had to retire from being a Donor. She was presented with a special jar of treats. Well done to her for all her previous donations. Xxx Brother Sammy is carrying on the family tradition! :)) Trust dogs, Truf, Fox and Larky also donated today....it was Truf's second time. Bless her. Hoping the next time she will come along with her forever family. Xxx Later this afternoon our gorgeous little Hilda was reserved! :)) So,happy for her! Xxx Thanks so much to everyone for all your help today. Don't know what we would do without you all! :)) Xxx Xxx

True to form Frankie1 has taken the fab Herbie home and given him the GREEN BANNER. This guy needed the care and now has a fantastic home.! Really chuffed for this fella. Well done to the team at Daybreaks, Ruth and Frankie1 for giving him the care and home he needs and wants.

The Pet Blood Bank will be visiting the kennels in their mobile unit this Thursday 11 May. If you are interested in bringing your dog to the kennels to donate and would like more information please give them a call on 01509 232 222 or visit their website www.petbloodbankuk.org It really is a great thing to do, one donation can help save the lives of four other dogs. Xxx

After yesterday's lovely sunshine it was back to grey sky and rain today...we are very grateful to everyone who came in to help despite the weather and looked after our beautiful Greyhounds. They all enjoyed their walks, playing with toys and licki mats. :)) Foxy spent a lot of the morning chilling out in the kitchen. He isn't very happy being in his kennel, but is quite relaxed with the extra space in the kitchen and getting extra cuddles from us all as we come and go. 🙂 If you think you could offer one of our wonderful boys or girls their forever home....please give us a call and come and meet them. Xxx I know things are hard at the moment, but when you have a dog there are so many good things you can do together for free...walks in the park, playing games, meeting friends, making new friends, lots of cuddles and of course, unconditional love Xxx Absolutely priceless.! Xxx xxx

Took the handsome Fox to Brueton Park today. He travelled well in the car and was happy to get out and explore. He is a lovely quiet boy who walked on a loose lead and there was no reaction to any dogs he met, even the ones who were barking at him or came nose to nose with him. He drew lots of attention and we were stopped a number of times by people commenting on how beautiful he is with his white markings and he was happy to be fussed. There were a group of people playing basketball and he was unsettled by the sudden noise of the ball hitting the backboard but he soon settled when we moved away. He is so sweet and gentle and was a pleasure to take out x

Haha! Not superwoman Jo, just some very clean kennels making my life very easy. It was the same again this morning- really think we should check the cameras to make sure the residents are actually there overnight!!! Pretty little Peggy is an absolute bundle of fun, she delights in pulling down the washing that is drying over the feeding run bars and lying on it! She will also have a nibble at your shoelaces while you are trying to scoop her poo!!!! Hope you have all had a great Coronation Day, although the weather has been most unkind for any outdoor events. Hopefully things will improve as the month progresses, and if you fancy a lovely hound walk that will also raise money for Daybreaks, have a look at the Agria walk details in the events - we would love some if not all of our residents to go along so if you would like to take one of our boys & girls for a great day out please give the kennels a call. Stay safe & well Angie xx

I think my partner is excited to see Truffle again this weekend when we bring Sparky for his health check. She gave him a kiss when we came to meet Sparky and he hasn't been able to forget her! I hope she's not waiting too much longer

Thanks so much to Angie for opening up, she had finished feeding and cleaning before we arrived! Superwoman!!! We were very short of volunteers today, but this morning Erik arrived to do some enrichment play and assessments with some of the Kennel dogs. Today it was Hilda, Robbie and Trufs turn. They all had fun, Peanut also had a go at one of the games and successfully managed to complete it. Thanks so much to Chris and Carla for doing four afternoon walks!!! We have lovely dogs looking for their forever homes, if you are considering giving a dog a home please contact the Kennels, don't be put off thinking greyhounds need lots of exercise, it's the complete opposite, they are generally lazy dogs who love a bed or sofa and a couple of short walks a day. They just want a loving home, a comfy bed (a duvet will do) and food. We are always on hand to offer help, support and advice. Go on, give us a call. Xx
