Hi, Hello from the New Forest on Daisy's 10th birthday. Bet there will be cake today! Gave a cuddle (several actually) on Sunday as I needed one myself (having lost my cat Gracie last week). She is a gorgeous girl. Love too all greys and humans, paws crossed for those awaiting a forever sofa. Love Spanner, Tim, Sue and Daisy xxx

Robbie

Robbie has had a slow start with the enrichment program as he was not allowed to be of the lead or do basic training. I have worked with him on doing short snuffle walks, and working on “this way” and “stop” instructions. We also worked on the “touch” game which he does well and he is learning the scavenging game. Since we had the all-clear from the vet I managed to do some walks in the local park to expose him to different breeds. With me, he is now very interested but less reactive. I have started “sit”, “down” and “stand” and he is making good progress. His mood has improved. Robbie is funny, he may decide to work or he may not. He likes treats but it is not his main motivator. Robbie is a lovely boy he will swing between excitable and calm, he clearly has his own mind.

Truf Truf

I have been asked to include Truf-Truf in the enrichment program. She is always excited to see me when I arrive with boxes or I enter her kennel to do some training with her. I have been working on basic life skills, “sit” “down” and “Stand” she is getting good at. She walks well and I worked with her on “this way” and “stop”. Trufle also enjoys the “touch” game a good distraction technique. She is also developing her scavenging in the sand run, important to make sure she is learning to use her nose and brain. Trufle, is such an engaging girl, she makes me smile and has such excitable energy about her. Truf, really enjoys being engaged with, she would suite a family willing to keep her mind occupied with simple enrichment techniques.

Kevin has been with us now for 5 days. He is a gentle giant, who likes to follow me around. He has had a few accidents in the house, but he is slowly learning. He is gentle on the lead and is not bothered by other dogs. He was fantastic with my young grandchildren and likes to give kisses. He is a beautiful boy who will be a great addition to any family.

Robbie is a handsome boy. I think he will need somebody firm but kind. He responds well when getting leaded up or having his lead taken of. He walks really well, though I think he prefers short walks. Big cuddles for him tonight. Xxx

Daybreaks Diary!

I am normally at the kennels on Saturday's but unfortunately Jo is still not well, so Ruth was in yesterday and I was in today. It was a busy day and I'm so very grateful to Denise for opening up and having nearly everything done by the time I arrived. Many thanks to Carol, Alison and Ben for all their hard work and to the lovely people who came in to help with walks this afternoon. :)) Xxx Peggy has gone out on trial today...hoping all goes well. Such a sweet little girl. Xxx We had several visitors for Nail clipping, including the very handsome Jag. :)) He went home with his customary two bags of puff jerky. Xxx Little Sasha came in for her four week check up. She looks absolutely fantastic. It was obvious how much her family love her and she was such a happy girl! Xxx Great to see you all. We also had a visit from previous Daybreaks resident Jasper, he will soon be an Usher at his owners wedding, Can't wait to see the photos! He looked absolutely stunning and so happy. :)) Xxx Another handsome visitor was Padfoot and his lovely Mum Carol. 🙂 Xx It really is wonderful to see lots of happy Greyhounds! I'm just a little confused tonight as I keep thinking it is Monday! I was most disappointed when I sat down to watch Springwatch....it's not on until tomorrow :)) It's not just Greyhounds who like their routine! Xxx :)) Hope you feel better soon, Jo. Xxx Xxx
