If you are planning to visit the kennels this weekend, please be aware, due to a planned demolition of the old Solihull Road bridge, the M42 will be completely closed in both directions between Junctions 5 and 6 from 10pm on Friday 5 May until 5am on Monday 8 May. This will mean extra traffic on the surrounding roads including the A45. 🙁 Xxx

Skipper (Sailor)
Over the Rainbow Bridge
Skip has done his bit for the environment this Spring. After brushing him, I have been putting his excess fur out in the garden and have loved to see the Blue Tits and Sparrows collecting it for their nests. Xxx Skip is very hairy for a Greyhound; so there has been plenty to go round! :))) Xxx xxx

All the inmates enjoyed morning and afternoon walks as well as enrichment time in the feeding runs with licky mats and kongs. There was confusion with the volunteers when they arrived and saw the kitchens had swapped over!! Thanks so much to everyone for their help today. ????

What a pleasure it was to groom Villa. Sometimes hounds aren't keen on having their teeth cleaned but this lovely boy relished it and he has a great set of gnashers. He enjoys his walks and is very good on the lead xxx

Thanks so much to everyone who came in to help at the kennels on a Bank Holiday. :)) We are very grateful. Xxx The weather wasn't too bad at all, everyone enjoyed their walks and no one got wet!! :))) Yesterday, Ruth and the volunteers swapped the kitchens over...so the people's kitchen is now the dog kitchen. It's more convenient and it's easier to keep an eye on the dogs during feeding time. My Skippy wasn't very impressed! Despite there being beds in several places, there just wasn't one in its normal place and he kept flitting between the two kitchens....we all know how much Greyhounds like their routine. Bless him. Xxx xxx Great to see Cain reserved today. :)) Xxx Thanks so much to Kitty's family for taking little Hilda out for the day, she had a lovely time. Xx Such a happy little girl. Xxx Xxx

Thanks so much to Kitty and her family for taking Hilda out today. She is a lovely little girl but is not so happy in the Kennels. She really needs a forever home. I am sure she would settle very quickly. Xx

Took the lovely Hilda to Brueton Park today. She was very excited to be going out and jumped straight in the car and settled down. Once at the park Hilda was golden. She wasn't fazed by other dogs, big or small, and looked for fuss from everyone we passed. She did bark but this was when she saw another dog playing fetch with a ball and she wanted to join in. The other dog promptly brought his ball over to her for her to play. We ventured into Solihull and again she behaved impeccably. She is a darling girl with such a lot of love to give and it was a pleasure to take her out. I think we tired her out though as she jumped straight back into the car and settled down for a nap. Here's hoping she finds her forever home soon xx

Fox

I took the lovely Fox to Elmdon Park on Friday. He is such a gentle soul. He stood calmly to be leaded up and off we went. I walk along the A45 to the park. This is obviously a very busy road and the traffic did spook him a bit. Once in the park though, he really relaxed and he trotted along happily. We met lots of small dogs and there was no reaction. If anything, I think he was a bit scared of them barking at him! He is a really sweet boy and extremely handsome with all his white flecks. He was a pleasure to take out xx

And today it turned green! Good luck Sasha! You are going to be spoilt! We helped her into the car and this confident happy girl suddenly became frightened.... her tail went straight between her legs as though to say heck, what is happening..... your heart breaks for them as they are leaving the environment that they have known - but reassured that you know they will soon learn their new life and hopefully love it!

I'm a little bit surprised that this lad hasn't been snapped up by now. Not just for his snowflake coat, a wonderful talking point on his walks.He met my Belle and Sammy yesterday in a very calm gentlemanly manner. His laidback friendlyness reminded me of my dear Paddy. I feel certain Fox will make a wonderful addition to any family, I hope he doesn't have to wait too long xx
