  • 2019 Daybreaks Diary!

    I’m Homed

Nothing new but it was soooo busy at the kennels as usual today. We had the canine massage team in again which meant the inmates had a fabulous time whilst we started destroying the kitchen!!!! Over the next week we hope to finish it and can't wait - we have had really lovely kitchen units etc donated in - so it was time for a change and the kitchen wall that needed replacing as the wood was rotting has now been demolished! We had two new arrivals, Nanny and Treaty and as Jo was doing the admin side I was able to help bath and do admitting health checks for a change which was great to do. When Nanny shook - it didn't matter when I was soggy anyway from the rain 🙂 The rain didn't put us off either - it was a great not worrying about the dogs with the heat as we have been doing. Petal went off for the day and Kenny's new owners came to visit him and then I was kept busy hunting for the engagement and wedding rings belonging to one of the canine massage team in the sand run that had dropped out of her pocket whilst in there!!!! We didn't need metal detectors as armed with the rakes we found both yay and this meant another job of looking after the run was done!!!!! Massive thanks go to everyone who helped today especially our new volunteer Darren who emailed on Thursday to ask if we could use his help with any plumbing or odd jobs and he almost hasn't been home since :-)))) The fencing for the sand run should be completed Tuesday along with the base for our extended cat run so things are coming together. I am just sorry we missed being able to go to the Games Day organised by Michelle - we hope you all had a great time xxxx

    I’m Homed

What a busy weekend Petal has had, out with Elizabeth at the Country Park yesterday, and today she spent the day with us at our house to introduce her to "home life". What a little star she is, she happily travelled in the car and had a good look around the garden before thoroughly exploring the house and sniffing everything in sight. She settled fairly quickly considering how new and strange everything was. She was happy to play with a squeaky toy, and then settled down on the floor for a snooze. She worked out how to do the stairs in about 5 seconds!! and went up to say hello to my Dad - coming back down again very slowly and carefully, clever girl! She was a bit phased by the TV at first, backing away when she heard the noise but she was fascinated by the moving pictures and colours and soon went up for a sniff! Eventually she decided that as we were both sitting calmly in armchairs, this noisy thing wasn't a problem so she flopped down between us and went to sleep! It was an absolute pleasure to give this little girl a day in a home environment, she is inquisitive and quite confident and we feel will settle quickly. She was interested in our food at lunchtime, but responded well to being told "no" and wandered off, not bothering us again so she will learn what's expected of her. Sleep well my gorgeous girlie, you've had an exciting couple of days but have shown that you are more than ready for your very own home, and will make a great addition to some lucky family. xxxx We know that she is a good girl out on walks,

Well done Horsey on getting reserved. Now remember the outside world might be a bit scary, but once you have your own home and sofa, you will be made. So be a brave boy and enjoy your new family.
