Well today was very mixed.... I was greated with happy waggy tails by Rory and Susie who were so happy. Andy and myself cleaned kennels slightly earlier than normal, leaving Ruth to her much needed rest... She is in so much pain.... This meant we were half done by the time our younger volunteers arrived... All dogs enjoyed morning walkies, with Susie taking up her normal position of legs in the air, on her back in the run.. She is so comical... Then the day went quite quiet for a while, with only a few people using the run, buying food etc... Which meant we could give all the boys and girls some grooming.. The afternoon saw the unexpected homing of Petal Bloom, she was so happy to go home... Then it was Noodle turn... Aka Nancy who's human parents decided to pick her up early... Yay... Two girls now happily in forever homes.... The afternoon also saw Saddle go off to the park for some more training... Thanks Elizabeth x Thanks to everyone's help today.... We all hope Ruth gets well soon. X

Saddle was in Elmdon Park for about an hour this afternoon. Like others have said, he is certainly more reactive to small dogs than big ones. He didn't seem bothered by the latter at all. The anticipation of getting to a smaller dog is high but once he is there and has greeted them (albeit in an over excited way), he then just stands there looking round. I had the impression that once he'd met the dog he was so desperate to get to, he was ready to move into the next new thing. He really was on high alert the entire time although I would say that he did relax a bit more as the walked went on. Whilst he may find the real world a little overwhelming at the moment, I think lots of trips to the park will help desensitize him. On another note, he travelled well in the car and was happy jumping in/ out. He's a very handsome boy too! XX

Thankyou all so much for your hints and tips. My daughter came today without the lovely Charlie so that we could concentrate on Ashley. We were in the garden when she arrived and as soon as she sat down he got up and went inside - no aggression just didn't want her anyway near him- Having coaxed him out with a treat he approached her for a treat (or several). We all went into the house and she gave him his breakfast. He then went to his bed for a bit of a snooze. She and I were both in the room with him - no problem. Later she put his lead and muzzle on him and took him for a walk - no problem. She was giving him constant reaasurance but no more treats!!!. Walk over and back indoors she dried his pawa unmuzzled and took his lead off. He went to bed and she sat on the chair nearest his bed, he wasn't bothered. I stroked him in his bed and then my daughter sat on the floor and stroked him all the time talking to him calmly and THEN he was so relaxed he gave her his paw for more strokes!!!!! I am so very pleased for them both. If she has time she will come over with Charlie on Wednesday to see if that alters the dynamics. He was amazing (and so was she) he even went to her when she called him. Once again thankyou all for your interest and help xxx

I am no expert either about my own behavior let alone dogs but, as you say Ashley is super with you, and he has just found his mommy, maybe he see's your daughter as a threat to his keeping his new "mommy" to himself, hopefully if you "fuss" them both when you meet up on his territory he will realise everyone gets a fuss of you .LOL

Oops, think I might have been a little bit naughty! Mom made me say sorry too Rosa.... I went into Rosa's bedroom and found found a pink and white saggy old cloth cat on her bed, she didn't seem to be interested in it and I liked the look of it so I picked it up, took it to my bed and used it as a pillow, how was I to know that was a no no? Florence xxx

I'm not an expert on strange behaviour but it may be a territory issue. Try asking your daughter to call Ashley to her for some fuss and when he allows her to do this give him a reward. It's just an idea. x

So very sorry that you have lost your lovely lad. I know how hard it is when they have to leave us but you obviously loved him so very much. Be proud of the life you gave him and hang on tightly to the memories of happy times. Run free Alfie without pain and with all our old friends xx

It was great to see Sara and Louis today :)) Sara did look well! She was finally able to see the bench she bought in memory of her lovely lad Charlie. I know she is so grateful to everyone who made a donation towards it. :)) Laura brought her lovely Labrador, Arlo in again today. This time he met Nick and Rory. They were both great with him. 🙂 Stella is a very sweet girl. A little bewildered at the moment but she ate her breakfast and dinner and Andy gave her a bath this afternoon. Angies painting job looks great! A coat of white paint certainly brightens things up! 🙂 Lovely to see Jo and Willow today. It seemed strange to see Jo with only one Greyhound on her arm! :))) We also had a visit from Gorgeous Sandy, who is now called Isla. She looked great! Thank you so much to everyone for all your help today. Sending big hugs to Ruth and to Lucy tonight, hoping they both feel better soon. Xxx

Love the picture of the boys in the car...may I ask how you keep your car so clean with pooches in? A pig sty would be neater and cleaner than mine! Good luck boys keep up the good work! Xxx
