Today I left Jen - twice. The first time I went shopping and was gone about an hour. She was left with the rest of the gang, the back door open and John playing trains in the garage. Doggy spy cam showed her relaxed and snoozing in one of the dog beds in the lounge. The second time I took the rest of the gang out for a walk ( apart from almost 15 year old Georgie) - because Jen had been invited out in her own play date. Again, the back door was open and John in his train shack but this time doggy spy cam showed some pacing and barking but also some chilling and quiet. This time I was about 40 mins. So I think she can learn to be left for longer periods. Later I took Jen out to meet a friend and her 12 year old collie. Jen met lots of other dog breeds as we walked round the country park. She was a bit excited by 2 small, barky dogs and clearly surprised by a sheltie (what a hair do!). She met some children (aged about 5-6) and wagged and enjoyed fuss from them. She waited nicely while my friend and I drank a cuppa at the cafe and looked at yet more different dogs walking past us.

it was another very, very cold day to day. We were very short on volunteers, sadly most of the regular Wednesday walkers are unwell, hoping they are feeling better soon. The inmates managed morning walks, this afternoon it was sand run fun, Hoping this weather gets warmer soon. Very quiet for visitors too, only sand run and nail clipping.

Thanks so much to Norman for taking Steve for a trip to the park this morning. They both had a great time. :)) Everyone at Daybreaks is smitten by this gentle lad...well nearly everyone! He met my Skip yesterday. Steve loved Skip a little too much and was bouncing around in front of him wanting him to play. 🙂 Being an older gentleman Skip was not impressed and had a grump at Steve who decided maybe best leave him be and quite happily moved onto the nearest person for a cuddle! He really is a gem who in the right environment will thrive. Xxx

Kitty

Kitty continues to progress at a great rate. She’s still pinching toys and shoes and if you see her moving at speed she’s probably nabbed something else she’s not supposed to have and is heading for her den. We’ve had kitty a month now and she’s such a different dog from the scaredy little thing that arrived. She’ll need a family prepared to let her develop and ease into their routines at her own speed. But in just a month here she’s already so different so rewards are there if you can let her go at her own speed.
