Robbie

Unfortunately the family with their playful whippet Stanley who came to hopefully foster Robbie, went away without him. Stanley told Robbie off and poor Robbie just stood there looking very upset and then actually headed back to his own kennel and got on his bed! I moved onwards to the second offer of a foster home for him and I have just 'delivered' the gorgeous Robbie to his foster home to stay for a few days over Christmas. He settled down straight away after having a wee in the garden and then lay with his toys on his bed and promptly fell asleep! (I have added a few photos of him in his foster home. If you are interested in offering this lovely boy a home, please get in touch! x

I hate to say this but I think I almost prefer it being minus temperatures - crikey was it WET today!!! It was so strange only having 2 dogs - cleaning & feeding was done in record time! Not sure I like it being quite so quiet- there is an eeriness to the kennels. Our work placement student, despite being on Christmas holidays, was in again today bless her - so we grabbed the opportunity to take Rocky and Robbie for a walk this morning during a lull in the downpour. It was a good plan - but it absolutely bucketed down on us when we were halfway down the road and we all returned to the kennels dripping wet! Must confess both boys enjoyed our ministrations with towels, followed by cuddles in their kennels - I think they forgave us for getting them wet! Well Christmas is almost upon us - where did 2022 go?? Hope you all have a happy Christmas and a healthy and peaceful New Year. Thank you all for your continuing support during what was a difficult year for us all. Angie xxx

Although we only had three dogs at the kennels it was a busy day today...lots of things to try and catch up with! Sonic went out to his Foster home, what a lovely lad he is! He will be going to his forever home next week. :)) Rocky and Robbie are still waiting patiently for a foster home for Christmas. They are both lovely boys. Rocky is a happy and exuberant lad and Robbie loves to play! :)) Xxx We have had lots of donations of food and treats this week...thanks so much. Xxx We had better news about Pearl which is fantastic! Xxx Xxx

Daybreaks Diary!

Thanks to everyone for their help today, we only have three dogs in the Kennels so they all enjoyed extra attention. Sonic is not happy about wearing his cone of shame, Denise spent time with him in his kennel so he could be watched and have a break from the cone! It's definitely warmer but I still felt it was a bit chilly. It was fairly quiet for visitors, just some food collections and sand run bookings. Well, not long now to the big day, it would be great to have foster families for the remaining inmates, it's always good to hear the feedback on how they dealt with the whole 'home' experience. Xx

Rocky and Robbie are our longest stayers at the kennels and Sonic who only arrived a couple of weeks ago is reserved and off to a new home on the 29th December. Ruth took Sonic off to the vets for his neutering operation this morning. Thanks to Richard for collecting him this afternoon. He ate his dinner and went off to bed. He is such a sweet lad... Xxx Django went off to his Christmas foster home this afternoon. He seemed much happier today, enjoyed going for walks with the other dogs. :)) Xxx We have had lots of great donations of food, treats, medical supplies and bedding over the last few days. Thank you so much,we are very, very grateful. Xxx Xxx Thanks also to everyone who has brought in chocolates, biscuits and mince pies for staff and volunteers! Very much appreciated. I am getting to be quite a connoisseur of mince pies!.... :)) Xxx We still have Raffle tickets and Calendars available at the kennels. Xxx Xxx

Django went off to his Christmas Foster home this afternoon. He will have the company of two other Greyhounds. :)) Xxx He has been very quiet since returning to the kennels but we had a waggy tail this morning and lots of cuddles. Xxx

What a lovely warm day!!:))) It was great not to have to warm the padlock up to be able to open the door and to only have to put one coat on the dogs for a walk instead of two!! :)) River has gone out on Foster for Christmas with one of our lovely volunteers. I'm sure he will have a great Christmas. Day. Xxx We had visits from some old friends. Who enjoyed giving our current residents a cuddle or two. :)) Many thanks to our students Emma and Jack who came in today even though they are officially on holiday and to all our volunteers for all their help. :)) Big hugs to beautiful Pearl, hoping she will be feeling better soon. Xxx Xxx
