Jen is proving to be a happy, confident hound. She walks well on lead and today we met 2 French bulldogs (going mad at the end of their flexi-leads), several spaniels and a German shepherd. She wasn’t interested in any of them. And she almost missed the squirrel on the way home. She did a little jump at that but walked on ok. Jen would benefit from a home with people who are around most of the time and possibly even with an established hound to keep her company. She’s a sweet hound with the softest coat I’ve ever felt.

Steve

Sadly circumstances didn't fall right for Steve with his previous homing but I can honestly say after taking this lovely friendly lad to Elmdon Park today that he really is the happy friendliest of dogs. He was a joy to be in the park with. Walking well on the lead, travelled perfectly in the car and showed no negative reaction to any of the other dogs in the park. Let's hope it wont be too long before the right home arrives for him as I'm sure he will adapt when everything fits his character. I'd be surprised if he wasn't able to live with other dogs.

Brr! It was very chilly today, Winter is back! So grateful to everyone for their help today. Xxx We had a mountain of duvets to put away, thanks so much for your kind donations. Xxx Great to see sweet little Lorna reserved. She has a wonderful new home awaiting her. 🙂 Xxx Met our new girl Amelia, so very cute! Xxx The internet decided to stop working this afternoon....I'm afraid my computer skills leave a lot to be desired, so after turning the router on and off a few times I gave up! I found much comfort in giving all our present residents a dental chew for bedtime, they didn't care about the Internet 🙂 I enjoyed lots of cuddles with Sallly, what a super little girl she is! Xxx

Ollie (Cloud)
Over the Rainbow Bridge
Ollie's owners sent me this very sad email.... we are heartbroken to read the news. Ollie passed away Saturday evening after having 4 fits in one day. all very sad here. He was only 7 just going into his 8th year. RIP 21.03.2015 - 14.01.2023. Thanks for letting me have the experience of owning a gentle giant.

Jen has come home with me this afternoon to join Kitty in foster. She’s had a good look around and settled while I read the Sunday paper (well, some of it). She knew what tea time was about and scoffed her nosh down. I’ve set up (another) big crate and she had ‘pudding’ (a fish stick) in it. She happily got in the sweetie queue that follows pudding in our house. We’ve had 2 wee’s on the carpet but she seems to have buddied up with Kitty who is showing her the ropes and we’ve had successful toileting outside after tea. She’s now settled next to John for the end of the film. We’ll see what she’s like while we eat later but she does seem happy to go in the big crate so if she’s too interested in people food I’ll pop her in there wile we eat. She seems a confident, happy hound who learns quickly.

Daybreaks Diary!

Thanks as always to everyone for their help today, and to Ned and Jackie for taking Rocky to the park. It is starting to get very cold again, all the inmates are tucked up with their fleecy coats, under bed heating and wall heaters on. We had a lovely new arrival today, Amelia, she is a very pretty affectionate girl. Jen has not been doing well in kennels, she has gone out on foster today and I have already had an wonderful update about her. She was cuddled up with Kitty and had settled really well. She was also small dog tested with Pod this morning and was deemed to be small dog friendly as were Steve, Lorna, Magic and Sally.
