Kitty really is coming on in leaps and bounds now. She’s now sort of eating with the rest of the gang - I’ve used a stairgate to create a safe place for her to eat at the end of our hall. So sort or with the gang but still having space to eat on her own without being bothered by others asking ‘are you gonna leave that?’(the answer now is ‘no’). She’s still emptying the toy box and gradually transfers toys to her den - or takes them up the garden and drops them. She now takes treats from my hand and comes up for a fuss. Things can still freak her and she shoots back in the crate but now she gets over it sooner and comes back out to socialise. I think she’ll still retreat back into her shell when she’s rehomed but with time and space to regain her confidence she’ll reward her people with her playfulness and love - as we are beginning to see.

Daybreaks Diary!

Thanks to Denise for opening up this morning and to Brad and Karla for coming in to help. We had two new, Jen and lorna, two lovely girls. This takes us up to five dogs in the Kennels with two new arrivals on Friday. We had lots of bedding donations too, thanks so very much. X

Josh
Over the Rainbow Bridge
Josh has spent Christmas and New year with us, he remains a behavioural puzzle. During Christmas we tried to reduce his Gabapentin medication however, we had to change this back to the normal levels as he regressed quite quickly. Yesterday Myself and Ruth went to Fivelands for a review. For the vet it also appears a challenge to try and understand what is happening with Josh. We are trying a behavioural med for the next couple of weeks to see if he again regresses or if he does well on these meds. If he does well, then we could rule out medical cause. Otherwise he is a loving and sensitive boy who enjoys cuddles, will tack time out if he feels he needs it. He enjoys his food and treats. We have a date with the certified clinical animal behaviourist, we shall see what they think the issue might be.

Is it not amazing, with the poor prognosis Caesar was given, he has just celebrated his second Christmas and New year with us? This was not expected given his prognosis but glad he is still around. Will he have a third Christmas and new year? Time will tell. He is doing well, with no sign that the tumour is impacting him negatively. I would say the opposite really. He is looking stunning. He is still a good naughty boy. I had to install a hydraulic door closing hinge as they (Caesar and Barney) kept breaking into the kitchen. The kitchen baby gate made no difference. He remains a champion scavenger, and loves his food, walks and our bed. So far he is doing brilliantly. Fingers crossed this will continue.
