Kitty is really coming out of her shell now and is playing with toys. She’ll still scoot back in her crate if things are a bit much for her but I can now close the crate door when she goes out for a wee and she’s happy to settle in one of the many other dog beds in the lounge. She no longer looks for and alternative safe place. And she’s found the doggy toy box - and almost totally emptied it. Many items have ended up in her den but the rest are littered around the lounge and she picks them up trots round with them. She will still be a ‘work in progress’ for anyone but after 3 weeks she’s definitely more confident and outgoing.

I visited River's foster Mum on New Year's Eve. I already know River from kennels and was enthusiastically met by this lovely lad. He loves to give you a lean and tail wag. He loves playing with toys. Don't let his age (nearly 8) fool you. He is so full of life and often the older ones are more suited to some families. He does have issues with sleep startle so anyone adopting him will need to be informed of and understand what this involves but as I understand it he's more than happy to sleep outside of the bedroom. I also understand he can be left for a reasonable amount of time without any concerns. It would be lovely if this gent could find his forever home very soon. If you're interested in meeting him, give the kennels a call. As with all foster dogs who are up for adoption, they can be viewed by appointment.

Another quiet day at the kennels today. A massive thanks to Dave for all his hard work. The boys are now tucked up in their warm beds. I have spoken to Nelson's owners this afternoon, it was great to hear how well he is doing. A very Happy New Year to you all. x

Kitty is doing well (by Kitty standards). The world is a scary, bewildering place. She likes to stay safe in her big crate (with the door open) but she is showing more interest in what’s going on around her and is spending time out of the crate now too (without looking for an alternative safe place). She enjoys walks with our other hounds and walks nicely. She’s interested in squirrels but not silly about them. She’s met a range of other dogs, bikes, kids etc etc. She’s mastered the stairs now too and is developing kleptomaniac traits (a pair of socks, the tv remote and several toys so far). Kitty will reward you if you have the time to let her build her confidence in a new place. She will probably shut right down again on rehoming (which can be quite scary as she’ll probably stop eating and even drinking for 24 hours). But left alone to acclimatise (she’s been with us just over 2 weeks) she will come out of her shell and pinch your tv remote too.

A quiet morning at the kennels with just me, the lads Rocky and Robbie and my Skip and Lyra. It was quite mild, so snug in their fleeces and a comfy bed the lads sat in the runs with a few toys and treats. :)) They enjoyed all the extra attention from any visitors who came along. Xxx They had a lovely walk at lunchtime with Stacy and her boyfriend Tom and later in the afternoon Gill took them both for a stroll around the sand run. Rocky and Robbie are both wonderful lads and have so much love to give. Hoping they won't have to wait too much longer for their forever homes. Xxx We also had visits from Stanley and Yogi for nail clipping and recently homed Amber came to see us too. She is a very happy girl and loving her new life. :)) Thanks so much to the ladies who donated duvets and blankets this afternoon. Very grateful to you. Xxx Left the lads tucked up in their beds, heating on, listening to Classic FM....There was a Pet Special on tonight! Xxx Wishing everyone a very Happy New Year! Thank you so very much for all your support throughout 2022 in so many ways. Xxx Lots of love Kate, Skip, Lyra and Cracker. Xxxxxxx

I arrived at the Kennels this morning to be greeted by Matthew and James following the Kennels sleepover. Matthew very kindly made me a coffee, James said in all the time he had worked with Matt he had never had a drink made for him!!! Thanks Matt. One by one the remaining sleepover and cycle victims (sorry, participants) made their way to the kitchen to get a hot drink. One by one they departed so eventuality it was just me myself and I with Peanut. Rocky and Sonic were also in attendance, Sonic now Nelson went home today and Robbie came back from Christmas foster. No visitors apart from sand run bookings. I really hope that Rocky and Robbie find their forever homes after the wonderful reports from their foster families. Please don't overlook Rocky, yes he is a big lad but full of love and character. X
