I’m Homed
Hi! I thought I’d send you an update on our little Paige. She’s still as pretty and shy as ever and loves living with her ‘little brother’ Larry the Lurcher who keeps her on her toes by being very playful. She is enjoying her retirement sleeping in her favourite spot and going on lots of woodland walks. Just want to that everyone at Daybreaks for bringing her into our lives. She’s a joy ????

Hmmmm. Is she anywhere near house trained? I can see she’s been returned to the kennels quite a few times and I like to give the apparent no-hopers a chance, but there is a limit! Xxxxx

This morning I went to visit Greyhounds Rio and Ella and their lovely family, Sylvia and Phil. :)) Phil had been up really early cooking 12 breakfasts and 12 Christmas Dinners for our residents. I got there just as he had finished cooking. :)) The meals look brilliant. :)) Rio and Ellla both had a sample of everything, just to make sure it tasted ok! :))). The Christmas Dinners are in the freezer at the kennels until it gets closer to Christmas, but I know the trust dogs will all have a special breakfast tomorrow! Xxx Phil and Sylvia have also donated 500 tins of Sardines!!! Along with many other items....We are so grateful to them both. Thank you. Xxx

Jim
I’m Homed
Jim was brighter today and had a waggy tail to greet anyone who came to say Hello to him. Xxx He ate well and enjoyed a walk in the sand run with Lucky who is also on very short walks after her Neutering operation last Week. They got on so well together. :)) Xxx

Massive gentle hugs for Jim. So very sad that he has been so uncomfortable after his neutering op. Really hope that he will feel better very soon and that someone will offer him his forever home soon, he really does deserve it, he is such a lovely boy. Will see you on Wednesday gorgeous boy unless you have been snapped up. Xxx

Queenie (Karen)
I’m Homed
I’ve taken Karen away for the weekend. John is out on a Friday night and we didn’t want to leave her for what would have been 2 hours plus (she’s done 30 minutes ok) but I was due at my mum’s on Friday evening too. So she’s having a weekend at the seaside. Despite the journey taking 4 hours (I should have known what the M1 would be like on a Friday evening) Karen travelled well with only a few grumbles from the back. After initially following me everywhere in a new house she’s now happy to leave my side and find the best places to lie down (by the radiators) and has settled very well. She slept in the same room as me last night but not on the bed with me (we don’t do that in our house). She had a good walk round the village this morning and would have carried on beyond the hour we took (but we were back at mum’s by then). She waited in the van (in a HUGE crate) while I took mum to lunch at the pub in the village and now we’re all back inside with the heating on until tea time and a walk (just round the block) later. Karen is a super affectionate hound (mum loves her) and is confident and ready for a home of her own. Can she have one for Christmas, please Santa?

Thank you Kate for covering the morning as Jo is on annual leave. I arrived at lunchtime and Daybreaks‘stepped into Christmas!’ The decorations are up and I turned the Honesty Box into a little Christmas Shop…. Loads of lovely things to have in return for a donation. Erik bought his daughter Sofia up and she helped with the decorations and bedtime treats for the inmates. Gorgeous Jim is such a sad boy…. After being unreserved as the lady had now found a greyhound from the Dogs Trust, and having major surgery as he had retained testicles, he seems so sad. Also with my commitments to going to Worcester Roadshow all day today, I made the hard decision to leave Lucky at the kennels last night…. She is such a good girl in the house but so stressed in her kennel. Finally I’d like to thank all the volunteers - but especially Chris who did so much. You are awesome.

Rocky was a brave young man yesterday and donated to the Pet Blood Bank. :)) The staff said he was far more interested in the treats they supplied than taking any notice of the blood donation. :)) Xxx

Jim was a little better today. Although he squealed very loudly when his coat touched his wound area. :(( He did enjoy a gentle stroll in the sand run in the morning sunshine....What Jim really needs to speed up his recovery is a lovely home of his own where he can be pampered and loved. Xxx Xxx

What a very wet and cold start to the day! It is certainly beginning to feel more like winter. 🙁 We did manage to go out for morning walks as the rain eased up for a while. Many thanks to everyone who ventured out to come to the kennels to go for walks. :)) Xxx The Pet Blood Bank came today. There were several Pet dogs who donated today including first time donors, Betty and Sammy! Well done to them both. Trust dogs Rocky and Robbie were first time donators too. :)) Xxx If you are interested in your Greyhound becoming a blood donor and would like more information please contact the Pet Blood Bank on 01509 232 222 :)) Jim had a check up at the vets this afternoon. He is still very sore after his recent Neutering operation. Sending him lots of love tonight. Xxx Thanks so much to everyone for your help today. Xxx

Sadly Jim is no longer reserved. He went to the vets today for a post op check up. He is still very sore after his operation and has been given Antibiotics. He is such a wonderful, sweet lad. Do hope it won't be long before he is reserved again. Xxx
