Amber (Laura)

Laura paid her first visit to Elmdon Park today and could not have behaved better. She was absolutely fine when meeting other breeds even in very friendly nose to nose snuggles. She walks sensibly on the lead and jumps into the car unaided. Prospective owners will certainly have no problems when taking her out and about.

What a crazy whirlwind of a day it was. We saw Baby reserved, Jim fostered, Laura fostered and Duque reserved after a call from Ruth!! Massive thanks to everyone for their help today, as it was so very busy with normal Kennels activities we also had the very talented Sharron Alexandra and her lovely assistant Helen come in for the final photo shoot of the year. We have come up with a plan for the following year calendar providing it is approved, sounds exciting if it can go ahead. Thanks to Denise for opening up and to everyone for their help, very much appreciated as always. Well, it looks promising for another couple of dogs on foster for possible homing opportunities, watch this space!! Thanks all. X

Unusually for a Saturday I was covering the Kennels. Thanks to Angie for opening up and dealing with some messy Kennels. There has been a problem sourcing Burns Pork and Potato and this sadly has resulted in some iffy tums, just goes to show how good Burns sensitive food is. Dog Angie came in for a health check, she is doing really well and has gained some weight, she is setteling well and looks great. We had two lovely new arrivals today, sisters Laura and Ellen, both gorgeous. Many thanks to everyone who came in to walk, the D of E students and the people who took time to visit. Thanks to Rob and lovely Sarah who stayed and helped with feeding. Keep an eye on the website as we may potentially have a couple of exciting news updates tomorrow!!! Not saying anything else. X

Lucky
I’m Homed
Lucky has been with us for 2 days now and she’s a super affectionate girly. I’ve been walking her with Karen who is also booked into our dog hotel and they walk well together. Both are interested in their surroundings and they saw several squirrels today but neither were stupid about them and walked past them quite happily. She’s been told off by our 9 year old boy who’s boss dog around here so she’s quite submissive and did what he said (gave up a prime location bed to him). Another lovely girly just waiting for her very own bed and sofa.

Queenie (Karen)
I’m Homed
Karen continues to do well. I’ve set up a large crate I have being mindful that we’ll both be out all day on a Christmas do one day soon. The dog walker is booked to visit every few hours until I let her know we’re back. But I thought I might try crate training Karen so I know she’s all safe and snuggly while we’re out. She hopped straight in. I fed her in it initially too but she’s clearly taken possession of the new property and is regularly in there for a chill. I keep shutting the door both while I’m around and I popped out on dog walk #2 this morning and completely left her for 30 minutes. In other news she’s been spayed now and although she’s been mithering at the shaved patch on her leg (she’s sporting some fetching blue vet wrap on it now) she’s making a great recovery and will soon be ready to go on to the next stage of her life. And finally, it’s her 6th birthday today! She’s had a new toy and some munchies. Karen’s a supper pupper and almost ready for a sofa of her own.

First day back after annual leave, lovely to be back and see the dogs. It was fairly quiet for inmates as Ruth has Duque and Jim at home after their neutering ops. Thanks to the Wednesday Walkers, Tina and our new College student Bradley for all their help today and for braving the awful weather this morning.

Rocky
I’m Homed
Rocky last came with me to Elmdon Park back in August when he did at times seem a little unsure of things around him. Happily it was a completely different story today. He really enjoyed himself and behaved sensibly in every way. Travelling well in the car, walking relaxed on the lead and interacting well with other dogs and people. It really is surprising that this happy friendly lad is still looking for that home to call his own.

Ruth seems to have settled in well. I would be interested in a viewing to see if she bonds with my 4 greys providing she has a full dental and is spayed by the end of the month. PS. Does she like dental sticks?xx

Duque
I’m Homed
Took the lovely Duque to Brueton Park on Saturday. He soon settled in the car and travelled really well. At the park he was a bit overwhelmed by all the new sights and sounds and was very reactive to squirrels. He was interested in dogs running around off the lead but I think this was because he wanted to play. He enjoyed watching the tennis and would have loved to play with the ball. He responded well to praise and encouragement and as our walk around the park continued he became much more relaxed. After the park we took him into Solihull Town centre and he was unfazed by the crowds and walked really well. By the end of our trip he was walking on a looser lead and was much more settled. He is a quick learner and a very loving dog. We were really proud of the progress he made and we look forward to taking him out again and showing him that the big, wide world is not as scary as he thought. Xx

Took this handsome big boy out for a walk this afternoon. We both got drenched but he was very good and back at the kennels he stood beautifully to be dried off. Very nice boy. Big cuddles xxx

Duque

Duque did make me laugh today. He was bouncing up and down, like Tigger in Winnie the Pooh, in the outside kennel trying to reach the baubles hanging on the outside. I think he mistook them for toys!! He is a real character. Lots of cuddles xx
