Wow! What a day.... not sure if I have recovered!!! On arrival at 8.30 I was met with a chap from the Highways Agency who offered to tarmac our driveway. It is a job that has been desperately needed for a long time, so we had the noise of leafblowers, rollers, the tar and road surfacing waggons etc etc! In between we had Steve turn up to fix our kitchen water heater - thank you Steve for doing this for free for us! We had donations of blankets and food, and a viewing - and the lovely lady who I had met in the vets several months ago with her poorly dog, was now looking for a new companion. She fell in love with Jim and whilst our dream team work experience assisted with Myra, Louisa, Lynne and Yvonne set to with the afternoon feeding, I took him out to do a home visit and see if he liked his potential new owner! Needless to say he did and he will be off to his new home very soon. Thank you to Jude for trying to keep me sane and it was totally crazy with phone calls but I wouldn't have it any other way! Let's see what today brings!

Daybreaks Diary!

In contrast to yesterday it started as a nice autumn day, however it was a different story this afternoon. As we were short of volunteers Carol took the dogs into the sand run with Noah. Whilst the weather was better this morning the dogs all had a nice morning walk. It was very quiet for visitors, so I managed to get some much needed paperwork done. Mikey had a visit to Brueton park with Jackie and Ned, they just managed to get to the park cafe before the heavens opened. He was very happy to jump into the car to come 'home' and stay dry! However, he was not so Impressed with his doggy ice cream, he has gotten used to having sausage on his trips out! Ned said he likes sausage flavour bread, Mikey says he likes the sausage!!!

Daybreaks Diary!

After a rather damp start It turned out to be a very nice Autumn day. 🙂 First thing this morning beautiful little Minnie went for a vet check at the track. All was good. :)) Many thanks to Richard for taking her. Minnie is such a lovely girl. She can be a little anxious so would probably be happier in a home with another dog for company. Xxx It was a quieter day at the kennels....there is more disruption with work on one of the newly installed bridges which means part of the Coventry Road is closed all weekend. However we still saw gorgeous Eli visit the kennels to have his nails clipped and handsome Flash and Jet come in for pampers. Thanks so much to our Duke of Edinburgh students for assisting with their bathings and to Jess for checking teeth and nails. Xxx Thanks so much to everyone who came to walk our residents. It was a warm day and they all enjoyed having a break from their kennels. Mikey was a little out of sorts 🙁 Tina popped in to see him and gave him a Reiki session. He did seem more relaxed afterwards. Xxx This afternoon Shirley and Richard came in with their fabulous Greyhound family which has increased to four after adopting Betty Spaghetti. :))) Xxx We had fun trying to get all of them to look at the camera at the same time for their homing photo! They had a play in the sand run afterwards. :)) Thanks so much to Shirley and Richard for helping with feeding this afternoon. :)) Xxx Many thanks to Angie for coming in early this morning to feed and clean our boys and girls. Xxx Jo was in today too and as it wasn't too busy was able to catch up on updating some paperwork. She didn't feel too good after having her flu and Covid boosters yesterday! Xxx I met our latest new arrival, Baby. What a very pretty girl. Xxx Magical Bumble was due to come in today but will now be arriving next Thursday. I have been told she is a super girl. Looking forward to meeting her. 🙂 Xxx

Thank you Angie for opening up this very wet morning! We welcomed a new arrival - Baby, and Mollie and Chris bathed her. She really is stunning and I am sure she won't be at Daybreaks for long. Big thanks to Pam and Suzie for all their help with admin today and sorting the Honesty Box for items ready for a Christmas Fair I am doing next weekend (yes it is only just November then)!

Daybreaks Diary!

It was a really busy day today.... We welcomed our two newest arrivals this morning, Minnie and Jim, both very lovely! We had a visit from the Fire Alarm engineer and had lots of "fun" testing the alarms! It's very disorienting when the buzzer is going off and you are trying to remember which buttons to press to Reset it! Fortunately Alan had bought chocolate donuts which helped our frayed nerves recover! This afternoon Ruth and Sue tackled the mountain of paperwork in the office. Richard and I went to visit Tilly and Timmy in their new home to see how they are doing...they have a wonderful Mum Hillary, who absolutely adores them. Xxx They are really happy and relaxed and generally having so much fun. It was a pleasure to see them and Hillary. Xxx Thanks to Alan and Declan who went to the Warehouse and also collected a new supply of collars/leads and muzzles for us. Xxx We are so grateful to everyone who helped out today, walking, feeding, grooming, teeth cleaning, preparing lunches for our residents, sorting bedding donations, bathing the new arrivals......THANK YOU!! :))) Big cuddles to all of our residents tonight. Hoping everyone will soon find their forever homes and be as happy as Tilly and Timmy are. :))!!
