Josh
Over the Rainbow Bridge
Erik brought Josh to the kennels after his visit to the Chiropractor yesterday. He looks really well and was happy and relaxed. Thanks again to Erik and his family for their continued love and support for Josh. Hoping the sessions with the Chiropractor will bring positive results for him. Xxx

Daybreaks Diary!
I’m Homed
Thanks to Denise as always for opening up the Kennels. Despite diversions on the Coventry Road I just about arrived in time!! Thanks as always to the Wednesday walkers, now back up to the normal numbers and to Hayley and Ilenie for doing teeth cleaning and grooming. We saw both Molly and Angie return for health checks after their homings, it's great to see how the dogs are getting on and where necessary offer some advice and tips. Ruth took Mikey for his MRI scan today, Willows decided that his issue may be more behavioral than medical. He will hopefully go and see a chiropractor to see if he has an issue. Bless him he came back to the Kennels and was so very happy to have something to eat, he loves his food. Thanks to Chris for taking the inmates into the sand run this afternoon.

Caesar
I’m a Sponsor Dog
I wanted to do a short update on Caesar, realistically, he probably should be six feet under. However, he is doing brilliantly and is certainly keeping us all on our toes. He and Barney are a brilliant naughty boy tag team. They are both such brilliant scavengers, give them an opportunity and they will exploit it. With his antics, he does not always help himself but he is enjoying life and living it to the full. We don’t know what is going on inside of him. My hope was that he would celebrate another Christmas with us, touch wood, he may just do that and maybe many more.

Josh
Over the Rainbow Bridge
Josh and I went to the chiropractor yesterday. This was to further narrow down the cause of his behavioural issues. I explained the challenges Josh has been facing and what I have observed so far, as described in an earlier post. Showed videos of behaviours. A recent new observation is that his heckles all the way down his back can randomly stand up. I also mentioned that he sometimes appears to slightly be in a squat position and not full erect. Whilst walking he can have his head in a stalking position The chiropractor asked to observe his movements on lead and wandering off lead in a closed barn. What she has observed and felt is that His head has a tilt. His jaw is not fully aligned. His spine has a slight curve. His hip bones are slightly rotated to the left and downwards. Of course, it is unclear at this stage whether this is the cause of his behaviour. My hope is that once his skeletal and muscle structure is re-aligned that the neural messages will have a better flow and that it will relieve his discomfort. The chiropractor, as I did, also noted that his pupils are continuously dilated, which may suggest pain/discomfort. Josh and I will return next week and he may need a further 2-3 treatments or more. We may still need to look at behavioural work as we do not know how long he has behaved in this way. Let’s be positive and think it will have a healing impact and that it will improve his behaviour, so he can find his forever home.

Beryl, was Peril, is such a sweet dog. A total joy to be around. Always greets with a waggy tail. She's particularly fond of my youngest who is 9. As soon as she sees him she races to him, and if he gets upset she's right by his side. A beautiful friendship. Thank you Ruth for letting her come stay with us.

Rocky
I’m Homed
Rocky has been drinking and weeing a lot since arriving at Daybreaks. When he was neutered, they did blood tests which showed he had a problem with his kidneys. He was therefore admitted to Fivelands Moseley for a kidney scan and cystocentesis and we will await the results. He is now patchwork from where he was shaved bless him.

Lucky

I had the pleasure of taking Lucky to Elmdon Park today and a pleasure really is the word to sum her up in all ways. She reacts well with other breeds of all shapes and sizes and loves human affection. She travelled well in the car and is sensible on the lead. She really was perfect in every way and I'm sure she is going to be a perfect companion for whoever gives her the forever home she deserves

Daybreaks Diary!
I’m Homed
We have been given the opportunity to stage 2 awareness roadshows at the Morrisons supermarket in Solihull Town Centre next Summer - Sat 10th & Sun 11th June 2023 (it might seem a long way off now, but with the way time is flying by at the moment it will be here before you know it!!!). Whilst we have a list of volunteers & hounds willing to attend (keep an eye on your email inboxes folks, will be contacting you soon!) newcomers are always welcome - and we really need people willing to act as a "Mr Shifter" - collecting and assembling the gazebo, then dismantling and returning to the kennels after the event. If you think this is something you could help us out with, please let me know, or give us a call at the kennels - the Daybreaks Trust van would be available to move everything to and from the kennels. Many thanks Angie x
