I took Peril with me to the Camping and Caravaning with Greyhounds and Sighthounds meet at the weekend. This was organised by a friend of mine, Dave, who adopted Natalie earlier this year. A family fell in love with Peril and took her on trial with their three beautiful greyhounds. I have had reports that she is doing so well - I am so pleased!

Jetlucy, sending lots of congratulations to Ryan on raising a fantastic £505 for Daybreaks during his Tough Mudder Run today!! I'm sure you are right your lovely Jet was there with him in spirit; every step of the way...but certainly would not have liked to get his paws muddy! Thank you so much. Lots of love Kate Xxx

We were a few volunteers short today, despite that all of the inmates had morning and afternoon walks apart from Sully who seemed a little lame this afternoon and Mikey who had a lovely visit to Packwood House with Jackie and Ned Kitty's mom and dad. They said he was impeccably behaved as always, but today instead of his usual head and ears up he was very focused on a scent he picked up so was nose to the ground and he walked where he wanted to!! Bless him, he got back to the Kennels in time for dinner and promptly proceeded to lie on a bed with his tongue hanging out. I don't think he had the energy to reel it back in. He will sleep well tonight. X Thanks for taking him out, he really enjoys his outings with Kitty's family and with Liz, he has been to places I've not even been to!! The gorgeous Chloe went home today with a selection of coats for every e eventuality. Wishing her and her family all the best. Next to leave the building was our also gorgeous Mena (now Nina). She has gone home and will be with Dolly (now Molly) and three other greyhounds! She is so much more confident than when she arrived at the Kennels, I suspect she will turn into a cheeky girl with lots of personality. X

So Ryan managed the course in 1hr 19mins so has come back very pleased with himself! Last time we looked he'd got £505 on just giving and we know we've got a few little cash donations still to come which we'll pop in when we get back from holiday. Not a huge amount but hope we've helped! Jets collar came with me and waited at the finish line to cheer on his daddy and I made sure it was in the photos! I know he'd have been going round with him in spirit, I said as much as he followed us everywhere, he may not have done this race with you, after all he never did like getting his paws too muddy! Xxx

It was a quiet day for visitors ....no viewings today. 🙁 We do have some beautiful boys and girls hoping to soon find their forever homes. Xxx As it was quiet it gave us chance to get some jobs done. Sadly we have washed and stored the wet coats until next summer, which seems a long way away! We have had a delivery of lovely new Winter Fleeces, so if your Greyhound is starting to feel the Autumn chill please pop along and get them a nice snug fleece. Mine are wearing theirs already and have been sleeping much better. Winter Blizzards are next on our list to order. :)). We have also had a delivery of Martingale collars. 🙂 There are some great designs. :)) Tina carried out some Reiki sessions this afternoon. Mikey was one of her clients. Jill, one of our volunteers noticed how much calmer and relaxed he was after his Reiki. :)) Many thanks to everyone for your help today. Very much appreciated. :)) Xxx

    I’m Homed

It was destined to be a very quiet day for volunteers today, with Angie now only in in the morning (she deals with the microchip registration and emails which she can do at home) and Chris on holiday it would have left myself and Karla our college placement student on our own for the rest of the day. Denise very kindly offered to come in for the day, so very kind of her. I had a nice surprise when Jess arrived as she couldn't come in tomorrow and then Liz called to ask if she could come in and do morning walks. Needless to say I accepted her offer!! This afternoon Matthew and Karla took the dogs one by one into the sand run. So very grateful to everyone who came and helped today. X Our new arrivals are gorgeous, Sky who arrived yesterday has already gone out to see what she thinks of a home life, hoping all goes well.

    Over the Rainbow Bridge

Josh had his x-ray yesterday at Fivelands vets. The results came out clear. There is nothing they could see. They agreed that the proprioception is slow/delayed. Next stop is Wendy Lymer the Chiropractor who I will contact today to make an appointment.

Alex came in for a bath this afternoon. He looks absolutely wonderful and as usual he had a very waggy tail. :)) Xxx Even having a bath didn't dampen his spirits! His beautiful sister Flo came along to have her nails clipped....she wasn't very impressed! :)) Xxx

It was just Mary and myself first thing this morning. Our wonderful Yvonne has broken her wrist!! Sending her lots of love and best wishes for a speedy recovery from us all. Xxxxx Thankfully Diane arrived early for walks and helped with the cleaning of kennels. Then Jean arrived and cleaned the runs for us and Anne did the washing up! So it was a real team effort! :)) The day continued to be very busy, a bathing, nail clippings health checks and three new arrivals! Sully arrived first a very handsome lad followed shortly afterwards by pretty girls Sky and Peril. Xxx Thanks so much to Shirley and Mary for bathing them and to the lads Richard, Declan and James for taking the boys and girls for afternoon walks. Xxx So very grateful to everyone for your help. Well I am very proud of myself tonight! My husband is doing the 'tough mudder' run on Sunday and I thought I'd add to his pressure by telling him he's now doing it for Daybreaks in jet's memory (isn't he glad he married me?!) I'm totally useless with computers but have managed to do a just giving page tonight so very pleased with myself! Not sure how much we'll get but hang on Daybreaks we're trying! Xxx
