Bless you Erik for taking the time out of your very busy days to write such a detailed update for us. I really hope that josh problems can soon be diagnosed and then successfully treated so he can live a healthy happy life than he deserves

Daybreaks Diary!

Thanks as always to our fantastic Sunday volunteers, all dogs had lovely morning and afternoon walks. All the inmates also had their teeth cleaned and had a lovely groom. Mikey had a few hours away from the kennels, yet again he was impeccably behaved. The gorgeous little Becky was reserved, she will have a great family. Many thanks too, to Sharron Alexandra photography for their photoshoot today, the raffle was drawn and the winners have been notified that their dog/dogs will be in next year's calendar. Well done everyone. Hoping for some more red and Green signs this week, all of our residents are absolutely gorgeous, please give us a call if you would like to make an appointment and come and visit any of them.

A massive thanks to everyone for their help today, all the dogs had morning and afternoon walks before the torrential downpour. The bottom block flooded again and after another check of the drains it very quickly subsided. Poor Mickey watched in a bemused way when I went to mop his Kennel, I'm sure he thought I thought had had a wee!! He didn't even move off his bed.

Firstly, thank you to everyone who has been following Josh with me. I have been very busy acting as a full time nurse for him with frequent trips to the vets. The good news is after all these weeks of intense care Josh has been discharge as his wound is now almost closed. A couple of more days of manuka honey treatment and fingers crossed it will have nicely closed up. As he has been healing it has also been a good opportunity to observe his behaviour. Specifically the main trigger points for his aggressive reactions are: · When he is lying down and an approach is made from the rear. · Noise can be a trigger. Some noise sensitivity examples are; · Josh will almost jump up and walk away as quickly as he can when he hears the hourly tick of our clock in the living room. · I have a terrible cough at the moment, and when a have a cough attack, Josh will bark aggressively at me. · My wife had a WhatsApp call and he barked aggressively at her. He seems to protect his back. · Josh does like to lay down in such a way that the sofa is protecting his back. · Approaches to his back by my hounds and that will cause him to react aggressively. · Josh can flinch when he is touched. Josh is going to have a full medical assessment which may include a scan. Hopefully this will give us some answers to his unpredictable behaviour which means currently he cannot be re-homed. This is such a shame, as Josh and I have built some trust. There have been such tender moments with Josh. He has come for a cuddle and almost buries his head in my lap. He is pleased to see us when we come home. There is a really nice Josh hiding in him, it will take time to see if the real Josh can reveal himself.

Daybreaks Diary!

After the long, warm summer it really felt like Autumn is just around the corner today. There was a chill in the air when we arrived this morning.... We had some new helpers, thanks to Georgie for your hard work and to Mary one of our new work experience students. 🙂 We also were very happy to see old friends Lucy and her beautiful Ellie. Xxx Not sure they would have all come in if they had known they would be caught in a flash flood on the afternoon walk! We had a torrential downpour which flooded one of the kennels and the bottom corridor for a while. Poor Mikey, Rocky Dolly and Evie got very, very wet along with Shirley, Lucy, Georgie and Mary. I felt rather guilty standing in the nice dry office when they got back soaked to the skin! Mikey was especially not impressed about being very wet! I did fetch towels for everyone!! :)) On a sunnier note, gorgeous little Molly went off to her forever home this morning. She has a lovely new family. 🙂 While we were filling in her paperwork she amused herself in the office throwing a squeaky toy around. :)) Wishing them lots of great times together. Xxx We have lots of really super dogs at the kennels all looking for loving forever homes. Hoping it won't be long before they find them. Xxx

Any updates on how josh is doing and if any physical health problems have been found to have caused some of his little issues?
