Daybreaks Diary!
I’m Homed
Today started with a vet run to take Dolly for her neutering. Thanks so much to her new Mom for going to collect her this evening after completing her adoption paperwork. We are still experiencing problems with our phone lines, so please use the number given in the previous diary post. Thanks to everyone for their help today and for getting so damp this afternoon!! We are very grateful to Morrisons Sheldon for their donation of dog food to the kennels. Thanks to them for their continued support. Thankfully, the weather report for the next few days looks like it will be drier and a bit warmer.

Massive thanks to Kate for her patience, kindness and resourcefulness with my frightened of getting his nails clipped boy, Ash, who growled everytime she even approached him with the clippers. 40 kilos of heart racing quivering greyhound (and to be honest mum). Bless Kate she enlisted the help of Alan, who just happened to be passing, and Ruth, who as we all know never shys away from a challenge. Alan and Kate, fork lift style, hoisted Ash into the air and Ruth deftly cut all his nails. Wonderful feat of cooperation. Many many thanks to you all.

Seana, my heart breaks for you. Your poems are beyond beautiful and im in floods of tears. You gave eoghan a fantastic few years, he would be so grateful. These hounds cause heart ache that is beyond measure. God bless you eoghan, run fast and free and make sure you meet with my jet and have a good old chin wag like me and your granny did last month xxx

A POEM FOR OUR BELOVED BROTHER EOGHAN When tomorrow starts without you and you are not here to see, the sun will rise and find our eyes all filled with tears for you. We know how much you loved us, as much as we loved you, and each time we think of you we know we will be missing you too. But when tomorrow starts without you, we will try to understand that an angel came and called your name and caressed you with her hand. We will think about our lives together, in the kennels then in different homes and then finally with Daddy Melly and Granny and we will be sad but we will think of the fun and love we all shared and so when tomorrow starts without you Eoghan we will not be far apart because every time we think and speak of you just know that you will always be in our hearts. Rest in peace our beautiful oldest brother. With love from Fergal, Brother/Uncle Teddy, and your other siblings Lady(Maisie), Fuzzy, Melody and Saddler Wolf xxxx

PRAYER FOR EOGHAN - RIP My darling grandson, Every time I think my heart can't break any more but if that is the case then why oh why does the grief and pain rip through my body. I give thanks to Alan and God for allowing you to spend your final 21 months with your biological family. I am so very sorry for the circumstances that took you from us but I give thanks for the nearly 12 years that you had. May God stay his hand over thee and guide thee to Daddy Melly and Daddy Alan and may you find peace amongst the fields of gold until such time as we can all meet again. I love you Eoghan and will miss your singing. With all my love Granny. xxxxxxx

I had a lovely telephone call today to update me on how Archie is doing, one week into his retirement home! He is going on 4 walks a day, has made friends with the sheep and he has a great routine - especially tummy tickles each morning! I am over the moon that he has settled so well, after he spent so long here being overlooked at Daybreaks. Well done Archie! So proud of you x

We have been advised by the Highways Agency that the M42 will be closed in both directions between junctions 5 and 6 for three nights from 10pm on Friday 30 September to 5 am on Monday 3 October. Please bear in mind as this may impact on your ability to get to us.

My name is Sue and I have just started volunteering at Daybreaks Trust having seen an appeal by Ruth on Next Door. Although I do not have a Greyhound myself I am a real animal lover. I have a rescue German Shepherd cross Collie dog called Chester who is 12 years old and two rescue cats Fizz and Pepsi who are both 17. I live in Monkspath with my husband Dave and two children Jake(26) and Justine (21). I am looking forward to helping find lovely new homes for all of the beautiful Greyhounds who find themselves here.
