Arthur paid his first visit to Elmdon Park today..... his best friend Teddy who he brought to Daybreaks with him from racing kennels stayed behind but he was very pleased to see him when we returned from the park !!!!!! Arthur settled in the car and travelled quietly. He met other breeds without any reaction whatsoever He also enjoyed the attention of a very small boy who loved stroking him. Arthur is a very well behaved affectionate boy who should be able to live with other dogs if required Hopefully that future home will arrive soon for him and of course his Teddy !!

My first day back at the kennels after a week on holiday and it was really cold! 🙂 I only went to Devon but it seemed much warmer there! :)) Skip, Lyra and Cracker had a great time, we all had post holiday blues yesterday. We missed our walks by the sea! Xxx In the nicest possible way it was great to NOT see Zavi or Tommy in their kennels...Brilliant to see they have both gone off to their new homes. Xxx We had a new arrival this morning, beautiful Mia and we have a new lad arriving tomorrow. Xxx We have three new students with us on Mondays, hoping they enjoy their time with us over the next few months. :)) Thanks so much to all our volunteers today, our boys and girls are lucky to have so many lovely people who are very happy to be at their beck and call! Xxx

I met gorgeous Arthur today, what a super gentle lad. I was told he came in with his own teddy, his Trainer asked if we could make sure he takes it with him to his new home. 🙂 Xxx

What a whirlwind day little Mia has had today! She arrived around breakfast time this morning full of beans! :)) Her Trainer said she had already eaten but was sure she would happily accept a second breakfast...which she did! :)) She made us laugh when we trying to take her photo for the website; she was stalking the stone statue of a Greyhound in our memorial garden. :))) She enjoyed her walk this afternoon and loved her dinner too... AND now she is reserved! Xxx

Good grief Mia. I met you at 11.30 today, filled out your homing pack, left the kennels at 1.30 when you weren’t reserved…. And now you are!! Well done lovely. I think you’re a quite a character going by what your trainer has said and you certainly enjoyed lying in the sun and having your tummy tickled today xx

I can’t believe how fast the year is flying by, we are almost at the end of September already and starting to get ready for Winter. It is great to see so many red signs for our boys & girls, meaning they will soon be off to their forever homes and we can welcome some new kids into the Daybreaks family. We have some events planned as we head towards Christmas ( dare I mention that word!). The Great West Mids Quiz is a totally interactive online event you can take part in from the comfort of your own home or even the pub- just use the link on the event page to register your team. The start time has been changed to the evening in the hopes of capturing lots more participants. We will be running our online auction on the Daybreaks Facebook page again in November, and already have some lovely items that have been kindly donated and which will make great Christmas gifts for 2 and 4 legs. And finally Santa will be making his usual visit to the kennels on 4th December with presents for all good hounds. Keep an eye on the events descriptions for more information. The beautiful boys and girls are the heart of Daybreaks and everything we do is for them, so despite the rather challenging times we find ourselves in at the moment, let’s hope we can get together, enjoy some activities and help raise funds for the boys & girls that find themselves in our care. Thanks to everyone for your continuing support. Angie xx

So very sad to hear you have lost your beautiful girl...I remember when you visited the kennels to bring in some donations; you were both adamant you were not going to have another Greyhound, BUT a certain pretty Ladysmith had other ideas. 🙂 She had a super, happy life with you. God Bless her. Xxx Thinking of you and sending lots of love. Kate Xxx

Many thanks to everyone who has donated bedding for the residents, they are all really grateful. We had a very handsome new arrival today, Arthur, such a lovely boy and ate his dinner so gently!! There were several lovely volunteers in today so all the Dogs had morning and afternoon walks. Thanks to everyone for their help, I really appreciate your help and support. We have another new arrival due tomorrow and another later in the week. We will be welcoming Kate back from her holiday tomorrow, hoping that she, John, Skip, Lyra and Cracker had a fantastic break. X
