It is going to be a very emotional day. Not only a family saying goodbye to their Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt and Friend but we as a nation pay our respects to Queen Elizabeth II who dedicated her life to serve us. As Jo mentioned in her update yesterday, the kennels are open as the greys still need us but we would ask if possible allow us to grieve with the Nation. After my emotional visit to London, I’ve truly realised we are witnessing a great moment in history. Rest in Peace Ma’am.

Today we saw the very handsome Tommy go home, hoping all goes well for him and his family. Thanks to Denise for opening up this morning and to everyone for their help. Becky also went out to see how she would settle into a home life, good luck sweetie. It went mad at some times during the day with people waiting for nail cutting and sand run. Lois one of our D of E volunteers finished today, wishing her all the very best for whatever she decides to do, she has said that when time permits she will come back and volunteer, she will be most welcome. It's been a couple of strange days, I will be back in on Wednesday. The Kennels will be operating a limited service tomorrow in honour of the very sad passing of Her Majesty the Queen. If you need to call please try and call in the afternoon after 1.30 to enable people covering the Kennels to watch the funeral service. Many thanks for your understanding in advance, our residents will still need to be fed and have their rooms cleaned!

I was covering the Kennels today as Kate is on annual leave and Ruth was off to London to pay her respects to Her Majesty the Queen. Thanks to Angie for opening up, Dave Maisie Chase a d everyone who came in and volunteered. We saw the gorgeous Tommy reserved, such fantastic news, hoping things go well for him. Well I must remember that today is Saturday and I still need to get up and do my normal Sunday shift, it was strange going home and seeing shops open not like a Sunday when I am going home and everything is closed!!

What an absolutely bonkers day! Early bird Angie was in first thing and along Mollie they sorted the residents whilst I took Tiggy to the vets for a dressing change for her broken toe. Back to the kennels we had a viewing and Zavi was reserved. We had our new arrival Chloe and a second viewing for Dolly and Mena found herself reserved also! Chris and Mollie walked their legs off taking all the inmates for their walks whilst I took Mikey and Mena into the sand run. Hmmm Mikey decided to run into my legs and I have a great video to show the evidence! During the afternoon after bathing new arrival Chloe, Chris took all the dogs in turn into the run whilst Mollie did weighing and health checks. The phone has been pretty non stop today so apologies to those who couldn't get through. A phone call from Chris in the run and I went to help her catch Mena as she didn't want to be caught!!!! Another viewing and then feeding soon quietened all the residents down and before we knew it, it was time to go home. Due to commitments I am unable to have Betty at home this weekend so she has been left at the kennels. As she has been so stressed I am desperately hoping it doesn't knock her back..... In the tradition of Angie - I will be pouring myself a lovely very LARGE glass of red medicine later!

Betty

I have been taking Betty home as she has been very stressed in the kennels - chewing the bars and barking as she is so unhappy. She had been in a home for a year so has been used to home comforts. She has been an absolute dream guest. She is house trained, loves her cuddles and is eating well. We are desperate to find her a home - she is strong on the lead and not great with other breeds so just needs a confident handler.

No surprise that this little girl is reserved after only arriving yesterday! She is going to be neutered and we will work on building her confidence - I am sure it won't take long as she ran back to me in the sand run this morning. It must have been the pate on toast I treated her to first thing!
