The Minnie Moose is home! We have had a lovely day - she has been for a walk round the lakes, discovered apple is tasty after all, had a quick play with a squeaky toy, and is now spark out on her bed. Thanks everyone for your very kind wishes - Minnie had been in kennels for 3 months & we had been houndless for many years, but the time was never right until now - think we were made for each other!! xx

Joe, now called Bertie, is settling in well with us in Herefordshire. He is such a foodie. Thanks to Cath for preparing him for us. He's a fairly bright dog so I'm hoping he'll pick up our routines pretty quickly.......

So very happy for Minnie, Angie and Mike, beautiful homing photo. Wishing you all very Happy times together. Myself and the furry four are over the moon for you all. I had a very soft spot for Minnie as she is my Coopers full litter sister and despite their trainer trying to convince me to have her it was not meant to be, I ended up with Peanut another one of his dogs. I am so pleased Minnie has found her best forever home. Xxx

Hi All Just to say Daisy will be 9 on Wednesday, OMG where has the time gone. She is now keeping an on eye on Stanley who has been confirmed as an old man, poor thing. They will both get cake on Wednesday even off someone's plate if necessary!!! Love to all greys and humans. Enjoy the long weekend. Love Spanner, Tim & Sue, Daisy & Stanley. xxx

To Al Humans and Greys. To confirm Stanley is an old man, Tim took me to vets for check-up. Lost a bit more weight although eating well, vet confirmed well looked after. Still giving cuddles. Love Spanner xxx

Daybreaks Diary!

Last weekend I visited our good friends Sylvia, Phil and their gorgeous Greyhounds Ella and Rio. Xxx Every few months they donate lots of food and treats for our Greyhounds waiting for their forever homes and also treats for us! They also give us lots of items we use everyday at the kennels for cleaning etc. We are so grateful to them for their kindness and generosity. Xxx Best of all Phil cooks a wonderful breakfast for every current resident, including sausage, hash browns, scrambled egg, ham, black pudding and a couple of gravy bones! :)) They love them. :)) Xxx Thank you to everyone who supports Daybreaks in so many different ways. Xxx

Dougie

Big cuddles for Dougie tonight. He injured his front & back left paws yesterday whilst playing in the sand run. Fortunately it was his turn at the Vets today to be neutered, so his paws could be looked at at the same time. Turns out he had broken a toe on his front paw and has had to have part of it amputated, and had ripped the nail on his back paw which was hanging off and so this has been removed. He came back to kennels sporting 2 lovely large green bandages!! Bless him, despite this it hasn't dampened his spirits at all, he polished off his supper and is still wagging his tail!! Get better soon poppett. xx

Daybreaks Diary!

What an absolutely glorious day! Jo was on the Vet run this morning with Dougie, who was off to be neutered. Unfortunately he hurt his paw playing in the sand run yesterday so it was quite fortuitous it was his turn at the Vets today! It turns out the poor boy had broken a toe and had to have part of it amputated, and damaged a nail on his back foot which has had to be removed. He has just come back to the kennels sporting 2 huge bandages - but it hasn't dampened his spirits or his appetite and his tail is still wagging! Sending him a huge cuddle tonight. It was a very quiet day for visitors so we could get caught up with health checks, groomings, and weighings, and get 2 lines of washing dried outside in the fabulous sunshine. After their walks, the residents took it in turns to relax in the feeding runs in the sunshine, enjoying lots of fuss and cuddles. Sad to see Josh come back from foster this afternoon, but unfortunately he was just not happy around the other dogs in the household and they were becoming unsettled around him - such a shame, but it has to be right for everyone concerned. The weekend is upon us again - and its a busy one!! The Jubilee Afternoon Tea is tomorrow, Ruth is taking part in the floorshow then is heading off to London to take part in the Ride London 100 cycle challenge - it's all go!!! I shall raise a glass or 2 of chilled white wine later to toast all our boys and girls, and hope for forever homes for them soon. x Whatever you are up to this weekend, as ever stay safe and enjoy.
