Sammy really seems to enjoy his special diet food - he licks the bowl clean! Let's hope it does the trick and settles his poorly tummy soon, he is such a lovely boy. x

Daybreaks Diary!

It was back to being a quiet Friday today, so plenty of opportunity to sort and tidy the bedding store and get ahead with some health checks & weighings. Our boys and girls had 2 lovely walks in the sunshine - all except for post op girlies Chloe & Cristina and little Georgie who hurt her leg so is on "bed rest"!! They all spent some time on the raised beds in the feeding runs watching the world go by - and their companions go out through the gate on walks, something Cristina wasn't happy about!! At lunchtime we had a call from Morrisons Supermarket advising us that they had a donation of food for us which had been collected in store - so Jo raced off to collect. Many thanks to Morrisons and their customers. Well the weekend is here again, I really cant believe where the time is going. It is a quieter diary for a change, but that doesn't always mean things wont change so I will raise a glass or two later in the hope that we have a red sign or 2 by Monday. We have some lovely doggies in residence, all so deserving of their own forever sofas. xx Whatever you are up to this weekend as always, stay safe and enjoy. Cheers!! Angie xx

Poor Sammy, sorry to hear you haven't been well with a poorly tum. You are my current favourite at Daybreaks. I know the vets have suggested some special food for you but I think my prescription is better. A forever home to be yours asap along with plenty of TLC. You get my cuddle again today, get well soon supa Sammy xx

Daybreaks Diary!

What a miserable start to the day, and then the Wednesday walkers went home. :))). Only joking, thanks for your help this morning and for the coffee and fruit loaf, oh, and the replacement clock!! It was very quiet for visitors, we did have a visit from a lovely lady and her daughter with a donation of a dog bed, blanket and a bag of sardines. Thanks so very much. We were short on volunteers this afternoon so the dogs that could go in the sand run went in with Chris and Annie. Chloe and Cristina are both post OP following their speys this week so spent some time in the outdoor runs with raised beds. Andy greyhound came to visit, he had started to limp on one of his front paws, on checking it looks like he has a corn so he is booked in with Auntie Ruth for her to check. He also has a new name, he is now Shadow. Limited tickets are still available for the Jubilee afternoon tea event, if you would like a ticket please give the Kennels a call, there is also the option of the luxury upgrade which includes a glass of prosecco!!

Very sadly due to a change in circumstances Georgie is no longer reserved. We are very grateful to the lovely couple who reserved her for their interest in homing one of our beautiful Greyhounds and hope if things change they will visit us again. Xxx

There must be someone who has the perfect sofa for Minnie! She is such a really lovely girl. Xxx After her dinner this afternoon she was sitting on one of the raised beds enjoying the sunshine. She really didn't want to go back into her kennel. 🙁 What she really wants is to have a home of her own, where she will be part of someone's family. She has been waiting such a long time. Xxx

Max spent the day in the office, venturing out every now and again to see what was going on. 🙂 He did have one little accident but no worries, Declan very kindly mopped the floor while he had a potter around the kennels. :)) Our lovely Alex and his sister Flo came for a visit this afternoon. :). Max was very interested in meeting them and came out from his bed to say Hello :)) Xxx

I took Cristina off to the vets first thing this morning for her Neutering operation. She had a short walk before going into the vets, she was so excited to be out and about! 🙂 She was happy to go into the vets where she met a very fluffy collie dog. After initially having a bark at him, she realised he was another dog, just a little more hairy than she was, she was fine. :))) Ruth collected her tonight and took him home for a little extra love and attention. Xxx

Josh
Over the Rainbow Bridge
Sadly Josh was returned to Daybreaks last week and does seem to be missing the "home comforts" that he has become used to over the last few months. He is not finding it easy to settle back into kennel life so it seemed a good idea to give him a visit to Elmdon Park today. He behaved perfectly, travelled well in the car and had no problems meeting other breeds of dogs. He's an extremely handsome blue boy with a beautiful silky coat. Hopefully it won't be too long before someone meets this lad and finds it impossible not to offer him the new home he really deserves

Daybreaks Diary!

Whhhooaaa! I’ve just sat down! Such a busy day. When I opened up this morning I found a very stressed Josh who had chewed his way out of the ‘back kitchen lounge’. He has been sleeping there as he was so stressed in a kennel. Then Chloe was off to the vets for her Spey. Back to the kennels and we took the chickens to the end of the run for a day of grass pecking! Next, a clip and a corn removal. I then had a college visit from the student coordinator, another nail clip then gorgeous nervous Max was returned. He has been constantly toileting in the house since his adoption despite trying everything but he clearly wasn’t happy- but was to be be back! A homing has to be right for both dog and family and the owner did the right thing returning him. In turn Barney found himself off to a new home and so far, reports are that he has settled nicely yay. The phone was pretty much non stop, we had several donations of bedding and my inbox of emails decreased a small amount but more importantly all the residents have had a good day! Rosie fetched Chloe from the vets and she came home with me tonight. After setting her in and feeding with Tiggy Momma and Tony, I was off to rehearsals for the short show we are performing at the jubilee afternoon tea. I am as always very grateful to all our volunteers who help make the place ‘tick’. Most of you will know Bob who owns Daybreaks. He celebrated his 95th birthday last week and also had an emergency admission to hospital. He is back home now and on the mend. I am grateful to everyone who has rallied around to help during this stressful time. Wine time now!

Dougie met two other breed dogs from a distance of about three feet today. He was interested but didnt react in any bad way. I think the more he meets other dogs the more he will realise they're not that different. Hes a lovely boy. Cuddles for him tonight xxx
