Daybreaks Diary!

Well, usually on a Sunday I have the most amazing group of volunteers. Everyone decided to take today off!! It was just myself and Dave Maisie Moo for cleaning and feeding, shortly followed by Rob and Megan who comes in for morning walks as part of her D of E course and finally Alison. Many thanks to them all for their help and hard work. It was very quiet for visitors, we had Early Shirley to use the sand run and then we had the Beagle party who are now a regular Sunday morning booking, there are loads of them!!!! Well as always stay safe and well. Xx

Andy is a very handsome lad! He was quite stressed when he arrived yesterday. :(As it was lovely and warm Ruth and Sam gave him a bath in one of the runs. Hoping he will soon start to relax. Xxx

Ruth brought Alex to the kennels with her today. He looks a very skinny boy at the moment but it didn't stop his tail wagging. 🙂 He is a very friendly lad who loves everyone he meets. Xxx We tried everything to get him to eat his food but he just didn't like it. :(( He would have loved to tuck into a tin of ordinary dog food but it's just not right for him. :(( He was quite happy sitting in the back kitchen with Skip and Lyra this afternoon. He is a special boy. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. Sending him my cuddle tonight. Xxx

The words ‘Din Dins’ and ‘Dinner’ is banned in this house. Monty has now learnt the words and when they are mentioned hoomans don’t get a second to relax! Oh no. It’s tail wagging, barking, howling, talking, jumping, the lot. Oops. Haha!

Another good day for Joe. Boy he’s an inquisitive hound! A walk along the canal where we met another greyhound (cue much tail wagging). Hoping to meet him again at playgroup tomorrow too. I left him for a short time today while I collected John from where he was (I’m just a taxi driver really) and he settled straightaway.

Daybreaks Diary!

Happy Good Friday everyone!! It has been a glorious day weather wise - but so, so quiet for visitors (and volunteers!!). As it was quiet, and we have fewer dogs at the moment, it was "open house" this morning as we muzzled them all up and let them wander about the kennels. A trifle chaotic to start as they all wanted to sniff the same place at the same time!! but they soon settled and had a lovely time chilling in the sunshine, waiting their turn to be groomed. It was such a great experience for them, socializing with each other and exploring, and just enjoying some off lead pottering about. Our handsome Rocky found himself reserved this morning - yay! Well done big fella. x Liberty's paw doesn't seem to be bothering her at all and she happily joined in the kennel wander this morning. We did however leave her behind when we took the others on a short stroll down the lane this afternoon - just in case. New arrival from yesterday Sammy is still a little unsure of things, but is a very friendly boy and I am sure he will settle in soon. Well, it's supper time now, and then the boys and girls will be tucked up for the night as yet another weekend approaches! It is a definite white wine kind of evening I think, and I shall raise a glass or two later to the lovely Alex, who is sadly still struggling with his health, and wish for a speedy recovery for him - and wish for forever sofas for all the lovely Daybreaks boys & girls. Alex was discharged yesterday from Willows. He unfortunately was quite sick yesterday afternoon and again this morning. I will be keeping a close eye on him and I will keep you updated.

Even hotter news! We went to the cinema yesterday and left Joe for a total of 3 hours and 20 minutes. Doggy spy cam showed him mostly chilled on one of the two dog beds in that room and occasionally standing on the people bed to look out of the window. What a good boy!
