    I’m Homed

We only have a handful of dogs in as we are waiting for new arrivals . However, it has still been ’nuts’ with phone calls and things to do over the last couple of days. Jude who helps with admin on a Monday is a godsend helping with the office side of the kennels - Kate was off and it was so busy we only had one cuppa all day! Yesterday was a bit calmer - Jean took the calls and sorted paperwork whilst kate took the gorgeous tiny Molly to Fivelands for her spey. I rehomed the pretty Paaaauuuuline (said in a Arthur from Eastenders accent) and I’m sure her owner feels she was ‘rescued’ from Daybreaks and has not surprisingly given a new name… Djinnie. Sadly Timmy was returned. He was homed with his sister Bea recently. Bea continuously growls at him and he was getting increasingly stressed and would cry a lot. It was a tough decision but his owner brought him back . After a while in the office he settled (stopped trying to chew the office doorframe) and became friends with Alex who spends the day having TLC in the office. I called Erik and asked if he could foster Timmy as I didn’t want him stressing in kennels. I fetched Molly later that afternoon and took her home. She has been a perfect little house guest bless her however she will go back to Daybreaks today as I’m currently have a full house with Tiggy Momma Tony Snip Hope and Rigsby…. It’s like an assault course at home! Thanks always go to Vonnie and all the volunteers who help I absolutely couldn’t do it without you all xxxx.

    I’m Homed

Another good 24 hours for Joe. He slept from 10pm ish to almost 6am. And when he barked to get up he did want a wee so he was asking to go out. He’s had 2 walks today - a short one with the oldie dogs and then an hour along the canal with our small dog. He met more dogs (including a nasty whippet - who knew whippets could have such attitude?), people and he also stood alongside as a boat motored out of a lock and wasn’t bothered by the noises. Spread the word, Joe is a cracker.

    I’m Homed

Brooke arrived at Daybreaks last Friday and today paid her first visit to Elmdon Park. She's a quiet loving girl who displayed absolutely no aggression towards the other breeds she met around the park. I think perhaps because her life so far has been spent in racing kennels she didn't quite know how to interact with the other dogs but I'm sure she will learn to do that very quickly as she spends more time out and about. A really gentle girl who is going to be a loving affectionate companion when her new home is found

Hi All Greys and Humans, A quick message from Tim, Daisy's human to say she has now been with us for 3 years. She is a definite live wire and knows her own mind. Enjoying her new garden with her brother Stanley (getting a bit wobbly but still a lovable chap). Paws crossed for those greys awaiting a sofa. Love Daisy, Stanley, Tim, Sue and Spanner xxx

Very sad to hear this news such a lady, such a fighter, we never met but through our mutual love of greyhounds and Daybreaks often passed comments and stories via FB over quite a few years. I loved her wicked sense of humour and admired her dedication to our beloved greyhounds, RIP Tracey you will be missed.

    I’m Homed

I spent quite a while with this fabulous girl. She is interested in everything but she walked so well this afternoon, no pulling and easily distracted from the pesky plastic bag in the middle of the roundabout which was about to get a piece of her mind!!. She is a pretty, friendly little girl who loves cuddles. Xxxxx

I went to say hello to Alex and there he was upside down airing his operation!!!!!. He is such an adorable boy and it was lovely to see his badly bits starting to fur up (the aloe vera seems to be working. He was so placid having his 'onesie' removed for grooming. Lovely temperament. Walks well on his lead. Xxxxx

I am heart broken to receive the news that Tracey Haden who lived in France who had adopted numerous dogs from Daybreaks has sadly lost her battle to cancer. Our thoughts are with her family.

    I’m Homed

So, first night/morning with Joe. He’s a live wire! But how lovely to see such a friendly, inquisitive lad. He’s loving life. He settled well and lay on the kitchen mat while I prepared and served people tea. And laid in one of the many dog beds while we ate (off low-ish) tables. He loved his own food although I think we’ll use a slow feeder today. He’s found the toy box and worked out how to get the toys out if it (even though I’d put them all away). Today he’s enjoyed shredding our weekly TV guide and has now crashed out in the sunshine outside. Not a bad start despite some singing and shouting in the dormitory last night. To be continued…..

    I’m Homed

The weather has turned chilly again, despite that we had a good day. Handsome hounds Joe and Joey both went out to their respective foster homes, so happy for them both. There were several sand run bookings, including a beagle party which is going to be a regular Sunday booking! We also had a viewing, fingers crossed that one of the two gorgeous hounds viewed may find their forever home. The family are coming back tomorrow with the younger family members to see which would be the best suited to their family. Our two new arrivals from Friday seem to be settling well. Many thanks to everyone for their help today, it is really very much appreciated. There was also a great deal of interest in my little girl Peanut! She 'mugs' everyone for love and fuss, she is such a friendly tiny little girl. Joey's foster family wanted to take her home!! All inmates were coated, tucked up in bed and had the heaters on in the kennel block, they all looked very comfortable and contented when I checked before leaving. As always, stay safe and well. X
