Cadbury-Cheverton 10/8/2011-1/4/2022. This afternoon we helped Cadbury to rainbow bridge he had been battling a tumour and he couldn,t carry on anymore.Cadbury was one of Sara Pillengers favourites and she gave him his name I like to think he,s gone to join her and all our rainbow dogs.He was a complex but wonderful character and he only ever trusted 5 people I was so lucky I was one of his people.I don,t know how you ever fill a very large Cadbury sized hole, rest easy caddy boy.

Daybreaks Diary!
I’m Homed
Another Daybreaks day is drawing to a close, and it's been a busy one! The weather has alternated between lovely sunshine (and I got a line of washing dry!) and snow showers - crazy!! Poor Alex was back at the Vet again, fingers crossed he starts to feel better soon. The new arrivals from yesterday are settling well - and are very lovely! Little Georgie had her bath this morning - and wasn't impressed, think she was glad she missed it yesterday! It was little Miss Clocky's birthday today, she enjoyed her birthday treats. x This afternoon saw the arrival of the very handsome Rocky - a stunning big black boy with the most gorgeous grey face. Hope he has a good night and starts to settle in with us. x The sand run was very popular again today, and we had visitors for nail clippings & food. It's started to get really chilly now so the boys & girls are all tucked up in fleecy coats with the heater on. Another weekend is upon us and yet again it looks like it will be a busy one. I shall raise my glass later to toast all our boys & girls and hope for some red or green signs by Monday. Have a good weekend one and all, stay safe - and stay warm! Angie xx

Bertie (Joe)
I’m Homed
Today Joe has been working on separation. I had to pop out for about 15 minutes first thing so he went behind his stairgate in the spare room again. Spy cam showed he didn't settle but again, no damage, or mess. So when I got back I left him there and did some work at my PC in an adjacent room. So long as he was quiet he got a chicken foot (yummy, apparently). And he seemed to learn what was required for another treat and stayed quiet for about an hour (periodically scoffing the goodies that dropped over the stairgate for him). He has also voluntarily spent about 15 minutes downstairs without me while I attended to a monstrous pile of clean washing that I'd been ignoring for several days. That's progress (him staying without me, not the washing pile). Off for our second walk of the day shortly - dodging the snow showers.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CAESAR, to be honest, we did not think you make it this far as you are poorly. You are still kicking bottom and beating the prognoses you were given a year ago and getting close to beating the prognoses given to you at the end of August last year. You are doing so well I hope you have an other (couple of) year(s) in you. I will get you something nice today whilst doing the weekly shopping. again HAPPY BIRTHDAY you good naughty boy :-))

I’m Homed
Absolutely devastated to hear of the sudden unexpected passing of Alfie. This is a boy I’ll never forget. A very nervous boy who came in. The day he was neutered, he was taken home by one of my volunteers, who later called me to say he had jumped out the car when he opened the boot! We spent hours and hours searching for him…. He was spotted running down the middle of Damson Lane darting in and out of rush hour traffic and I eventually found him curled up in a garden. He was subsequently adopted by one of my work experience volunteers. He has had the most amazing life and I only saw him a few weeks ago and he seemed so bright. My thoughts are with Laura. Run free fella. Your star will always shine bright. XxX

I’m Homed
What a very chilly day!! We had three gorgeous new arrivals today, Georgie, Clocky and Toby. We had the heater on in the treatment room so they were nice and warm to have their health checks and baths. Georgie missed out on her bath as she had recently been flea treated by her trainer. We will catch up with her in the next few days! Thanks so much to Lucy and Lauren for carrying out the health checks for them all and thanks so much to Lucy for the fabulous arrival photos!! Xxx Alan and Declan went on a warehouse run, thanks so much. They travelled back in a snow storm! Xxx Thanks you to everyone for your help today. Xxx We have nearly a full house again....please give us a call if you would like to meet any of our boys and girls. :)) Xxx

Millie (Annabelle)
Over the Rainbow Bridge
Dear Shirley and Richard, I am so sad to hear you have had to let Millie go today. Xxx What a lovely happy life she had with you and her Greyhound brothers and sisters. I know how much you loved Millie and I remember what a sorry little soul she was when she arrived at Daybreaks all those years ago. It was thanks to Norman that you found yourselves with her on the Stratford Walk and that was it, she had her forever home! :)) Xxx It was so good to have seen her last week, always a lady. :)) I can see her now happily running free at Rainbow Bridge. God Bless your sweet Millie. Sending lots of love to you all. Kate, Skip, Lyra and Cracker. Xxxxxxx

Bertie (Joe)
I’m Homed
So today Joe has done another short walk with the oldies and a BIG 5 miler with the piglet. He’s seen geese, sheep and more small dogs and not shown any interest. He chilled in the van for an hour or so while I browsed (and failed to choose) new curtains at a well known soft furnishing outlet. But the big news is he was left for 2 hours today. Whilst he didn’t totally relax (we have doggy spy cams) there was no damage or mess. He was left behind a tall stair gate in the room he sleeps in with the Tv on in an adjacent room. Maybe he didn’t like the repays that were on?
