We had to say goodbye to Millie this afternoon. Her back legs finally gave up on her. Run free Millie, go find Guinness and Cello and have some fun together.

ROADSHOWS/AWARENESS EVENTS As life starts to return to something approaching "normal", we are keen to get our Roadshows and Awareness events up and running again, and are now recruiting members for the Roadshow Teams. Do you love to talk about your Hound? Are you keen to promote Greyhounds as pets and share your experiences with the public? If so, and you are in a position to commit some time at various weekends and various locations throughout the year, then please get in touch - we would love to hear from you. We are initially just gathering names to gauge numbers and areas - owning a hound is not a requirement, although hounds with a solid temperament are most welcome & will act as great ambassadors for both Daybreaks and the Greyhound breed. These events have proved very succesful in the past, not only for raising awareness but also for finding homes for our boys & girls as well as raising the vital funds we need to continue our work. So please - give the kennels a call on 0121 782 7702 or give me a shout (or text) on 07963 988883 for further information, or to sign up - and let's get back out there and start spreading the message again - Greyhounds make great pets, and Daybreaks is a great place to home one from. Angie xx

Timmy

It was sad to see Timmy back at Daybreaks yesterday but it just wasn't the right situation for him. His owner was very sad to return him and hopes the right home will be found for Timmy as soon as possible. We all hope that Bea will be more settled with her owner now she is on her own. Xxx Timmy is a really sweet lad, I'm sure the perfect home will soon be his. Xxx

Thanks to everyone for their help today. I took Alex to the vets this morning, he has been sick in his kennel for a few days. Thankfully the vet couldn't find anything specific wrong with him, she thought he may have a bit of a gastrointestinal bug but could also be caused by some stress. He was given an anti sickness jab and some probiotic pills to help with the lining of his stomach. He has shown no signs of being unwell apart from the sickness and not wanting to eat the biscuits in his food. He enjoyed the tray meat he had today, we left the Burns out and he was quite happy! We are expecting some new arrivals in the next couple of days, so watch this space! As always stay safe and well. X

Well today the eejit has chewed a door stop and helped himself to two of my gardening books (apparently he’s interested in perennials and clematis) but the BIG news is that he slept from 10pm to 7am AND he was left for half an hour and was a good boy. He was also very well behaved on a zoom call this afternoon and is now flat out after a second walk and his tea.

Daybreaks Diary!
I’m Homed
We only have a handful of dogs in as we are waiting for new arrivals . However, it has still been ’nuts’ with phone calls and things to do over the last couple of days. Jude who helps with admin on a Monday is a godsend helping with the office side of the kennels - Kate was off and it was so busy we only had one cuppa all day! Yesterday was a bit calmer - Jean took the calls and sorted paperwork whilst kate took the gorgeous tiny Molly to Fivelands for her spey. I rehomed the pretty Paaaauuuuline (said in a Arthur from Eastenders accent) and I’m sure her owner feels she was ‘rescued’ from Daybreaks and has not surprisingly given a new name… Djinnie. Sadly Timmy was returned. He was homed with his sister Bea recently. Bea continuously growls at him and he was getting increasingly stressed and would cry a lot. It was a tough decision but his owner brought him back . After a while in the office he settled (stopped trying to chew the office doorframe) and became friends with Alex who spends the day having TLC in the office. I called Erik and asked if he could foster Timmy as I didn’t want him stressing in kennels. I fetched Molly later that afternoon and took her home. She has been a perfect little house guest bless her however she will go back to Daybreaks today as I’m currently have a full house with Tiggy Momma Tony Snip Hope and Rigsby…. It’s like an assault course at home! Thanks always go to Vonnie and all the volunteers who help I absolutely couldn’t do it without you all xxxx.
