Over the Rainbow Bridge
Hi Kayla, sorry to read that Nina is struggling with being left alone. She was initially kennelled on her own and was settled but it is an environment she is familiar with so her new home is just a little frightening for her. I would try herbal calming tablets. It might be worth also trying a crate (left open) and a thunder shirt - I can lend you both of these. I am not at the kennels today but if you want to give me a call on my mobile I can happily chat with you - 07760617287 x

Hi Kayla gosh how upsetting for you all, if I were you I would give Ruth a call I am sure Ruth will give you lots of good advice, thunder shirts do help, or sometimes a companion can also help, good luck I hope nina settles soon.

Hi Av2013. I hope you are having a brilliant holiday and sorry for the lack of updates on Al. He has completely settled in and is fully house trained. I look forward to his wagging tail in the morning and he really enjoys his food and his walks. He has had lots of practice with other dogs of different breeds and is interested in them but he is very good when walked past and praised – he just needs plenty of practice. He is a gentle boy but is extremely affectionate and loves a good cuddle and fuss. I let Al off his lead in an enclosed field and he loved it – it was so lovely seeing him sprinting and having fun. He has been absolutely perfect, beautifully behaved and we have loved every minute with him.

Hi kayla, I used a thunder shirt with daisydog and also ttouch therapy. Both really good. I can lend you her thunder shirt if you would like to borrow it for nina to see if it helps. A nice smelly t shirt of yours in her basket may help too! Auntie Ruth has my contact details so please ask for my email address and I can arrange to post it to you. Daisydog happy to help. X

Nina has learnt a lot of new things and is brilliant when we are around however, since weve been back at work she seems to be suffering separation anxiety. I know this for certain because i recorded her behaviour on my camera. We have tried to prepare her for us leaving by trying to make her bed a safe place and giving her a kong but the minute i leave she howls non stop. We take it in turns to come back at lunch so the longest shes left for is four hours. We leave radio 4 on but it doesnt make any difference. She doesnt chew or destroy things but cries constantly. Its upsetting knowing shes getting so stressed. We were thinking of trying out a thundershirt, has anyone used these before for their dogs? Any advice or tips will be helpful, thanks x

Bandit is adorable. He follows people wherever they go, he is soooooo nosey, he managed to open the writing bureau to have a look, the downstairs loo is a magnet for him, any cupboard that you open, his head is in there before you get your hand in and the washing machine is fascinating! Missy has told him the rules, but he has taken it all in his stride. They have all settled quietly on the beds now and seem quite happy together. He will make a fantastic companion for someone, he just wants to be loved.

I took Bandit to the vets this morning and then this afternoon over to his new foster home after a walk in the park with Norris' owners. At our house he was golden and settled down after investigating everything and then was great at the vets with other breeds. He is just lovely but needs to put on weight which I know will happen very soon x

My prayers I think have been answered! I took Bobby V out to a home yesterday on trial and I have just spoken to his new owner who tells me he is doing really well and 'just perfect' which we already know! He is going to stay on trial for a bit longer just to make sure but I think he is there to stay! 🙂

Stormin you are so right in your comment. I think we all get caught up in our own disappointment when things don't work out for the dog and they have to come back, we forget that the dogs themselves can't think or react like we do. Sounds like Bandit is readjusting well to kennel life and I am glad things don't seem too bad with his poorly leg. I shall look forward to seeing him again on Friday, he really is a beautiful boy and I hope the right home for him comes along soon because, as much as being at Daybreaks is great, being on your own sofa is better! xx

It saddens me to see dogs come back, through no fault of their own. There are plenty of people around the world that are dying to have a dog that can't due to personal reasons. I hope bandit gets a home he deserves. Xxxx

Rosie
Over the Rainbow Bridge
Well it is `Tuesday and our life has changed dramatically for the better since the arrival of Rosie. She has fitted in so well or should I say we have fitted in so well in the past 2 days to her!!!. She has her own settee and bed and last night was confident enough to sleep in the living room, we got the early morning call at 2.45am to take her a walk!!! Rosie is so loving and as I type this she is fast asleep snuggled up to Tash I can't imagine being any happier than I am now one very proud Dad. She has got a celebrity status in Hollywood with people we didn't know stopping us for a chat so they speak to Rosie, friends and family all love her and she will have the most fantastic retirement with us and it is fully deserved. I was sad to read Bandit being returned I do hope that he finds his for ever home soon, well bye for now will keep you informed on the progress of Rosie but thus far the past 2 days have been truly life changing and wonderful.
