Bandit (Andy)
Over the Rainbow Bridge
This is such sad news. Someone perfect for bandit will find him. Better he's back with auntie Ruth and Kate and all the fabulous volunteers than somewhere inappropriate to his needs! X

Oh Bandit my boy, I just don't know what to say about this awful news. How sad for you, you must be very confused at the moment and wondering what's going on. I will see you on Friday and give you an especially big cuddle, and lets keep fingers crossed that the right home for you comes along very soon. Big cuddles sweetheart. xxxxx

Can I say how much I agree with Ruth that it really is sad news that Bandit has been returned. Perhaps it was not meant to be this time and some lucky future owner is going to benefit from him being returned by being able to adopt this lovely lad and find themselves with the most wonderful companion and friend. As Ruth has said I have taken him out on several occasions to Brueton Park where he has always behaved impeccably with no problems with other breed large or small and was always the perfect gentleman when meeting other walkers and their children. Hopefully his new forever home will not be long in coming.

Bandit (Andy)

I am absolutely heartbroken that Bandit has been returned. He was a long stayer at Daybreaks and it is so sad he has been brought back so soon. Bandit retired after a hock injury and he has healed very well. Whilst Bandit was with us (almost 4 months), he never showed any signs off lameness and went on some fabulous walks especially with Norman. Sadly he has come back with lameness so we are going to keep a close eye on him and get him checked over by the vet. Welcome back Bandit - you are a fabulous boy x you will find your forever home when the time is right.

Sadly Bandit has been returned today. His owner says this is due to a flare up of an old injury and Bandit is unable to cope with his owners busy lifestyle and feels it would be detrimental to his long term health. They also feel he would suit a quieter life with shorter walks and said he was a super dog.

Torres
Over the Rainbow Bridge
Torres came to our home yesterday, now I know all the dogs are special but this one takes some beating. He was the most perfect house guest even asked to go out when he wonted a pee. To think he came straight out of training, and yet he found himself in a whole new world, calm and collected with a stunning coat. What do I know but IMHO probably better suited to a quieter family, but I tell you what, who ever gets this boy will be getting one amazing chap. Hope Michelle doesn't read this but if circumstances where different this gent would have been staying. Roy

Champ
Over the Rainbow Bridge
Hi Fairy How about letting Andy feed Champ too so Champ connects Andy with nice events and you back off Champ a little? You could also leave a worn tee shirt in Champ's bed so he can smell you and that may help him settle too 🙂 A crate may help too- Ruth can give you loads of advice on how to introduce a crate safely and kindly to Champ then if there may be mayhem outside and the shouting upsets him you could pop him into the crate with a tasty Kong or similar so he's safe and out of harms way. As you have more than one you need to be careful they're supervised when Kongs are about or they are safely separated...but I'm sure you know that anyway 🙂 Best wishes Julie

Bobby
Over the Rainbow Bridge
Gorgeous Bobby V - please someone, give this fabulous boy a home. He didn't even pull on his lead when a squirrel ran in front of him on his walk this morning! He is totally house trained and would like a nice quiet home where he can eat, sleep, roach, repeat!

Champ
Over the Rainbow Bridge
Hi Fairy, Champ will settle but he is getting used to a whole new life so he just needs time to get used to his new routine. There are two ways to stop him destroying things - a muzzle is the first - he cannot chew wearing a muzzle! Secondly and probably the best way, is to give him things that he can entertain himself with such as a Kong or a Nylabone (a toy he can chew on for hours!) Try using the tips that are on the sheet in your homing pack or give me a call and I can have a chat with you about how to help him. Whilst he settles in, why not try some herbal calming tablets or a thunder shirt too. There are lots of things he can be helped with so please give me a call if you need to. Ruth

Champ
Over the Rainbow Bridge
Another nice day with Champ. He is still getting on well with Daisy and Roxy and no accidents at all today. I am a little concerned about separation anxiety though. He has been shadowing me since he arrived on Friday - he follows me wherever I go and however settled he is, if I move to make a cup of tea etc, he patters behind me. Fine so far. I left him downstairs yesterday with the girls stretched out in front of the fire whilst I went for a shower. All was well and when I came back to them, they were all as I left them. I had to go out shortly afterwards for about 15 mins to shut the chickens in and take delivery of some cattle. All was fine when I got in. However we had a calf escape about half an hour later, up the drive. I had to go out to help get it back on the farm but there was a lot of noise and shouting outside the house in the meantime. When I went back in Champ had dragged a few cushions into the kitchen and chewed some papers from the worktop. Today whilst I was outside away from him for 10 mins he demolished a magazine. I had to go to the supermarket today and was gone for 30 mins. Andy was at home and said Champ was pacing the whole time, rucking up the rug and grabbing and chewing everything from a computer mouse to shoes and watching the door. Once I came back, he was my shadow again but we sat down watched some TV, he slept for an hour, had a walk and he has been great again, but still very watchful and concerned if I am not there. He does none of this when I am here, shadowing yes, but all else, no. What can I do to help him? I have 2 more days at home but am back at work on Wednesday. I'll make sure I am at home for however much he needs it but would really appreciate any advice to help him feel more comfortable and secure xx

Rosie
Over the Rainbow Bridge
What a fabulous day we've had and Thank You to all at Daybreaks who have been so encouraging since we decided to adopt Rosie (or was that the other way around?!) Rosie is the most adorable girl and jumped into the back of our car like a pro. She travelled so well back home (30 mins approx) but that's probably as her new 'Mom' drove like she was transporting the crown jewels. We've had 3 walks today and there's been some pulling on the lead when Rosie met smaller dogs and saw cats, but that's work in progress and we'll contact Julie tomorrow to book our place on Saturday morning's training. Her idea of walking in a straight line isn't the same as ours and walks resemble a game of outdoor Twister! She ate her dinner so quickly even with us using a tin of beans in the middle to try and slow her down, so hoping that once she knows she isn't in competition for food, that she'll eat more slowly. We know that today has been a massive occasion for Rosie what with new smells, sights, sounds and people and she's handled it so well and we are very, very proud of our beautiful new family member. Thank you for all your best wishes messages and we'll see you again soon as Daybreaks when we're volunteering on Sunday mornings. Tash & John (& of course little Rosie) xxx
