Hiya .. You're doing really well and you're right - greyhounds are very different to 'real' dogs LOL, their responses, upbringing, love of routine, lack of knowledge of the world etc etc make them very special 🙂 Keep asking - we've all been through it and we're here to help 🙂 Best wishes Julie

Thanks everyone for your encouraging comments. This week so far she does appear to be a bit better, starting to come to you when you walk in the room and even ventured into the living room last night albeit for a split second but it's all positive and in the right direction. Let's hope she has no scares as that seems to set her back by weeks.

Isla, I'm delighted you had a lovely day out at Stratford on Sunday. Sounds like you were such a good girl and enjoyed the change of being out and about for a while in the sunshine playing with new friends. Big cuddles pretty girl. xx

Jed came into the lounge and stayed, he lay down on the rug and snoozed away for at least an hour. I can't say what a milestone achievement this is up until now he has only popped his head round the door or come in and gone straight out again. So so proud of him tonight!!!

I was so very sad to see Bandit returned today, I really hoped he had at last found his forever home. 🙁 However he is still our happy, bouncy Bandit. He is a special boy and deserves a very special home. Xxx

Thanks both for you words of advice and also to Kate too. I think having a few things to keep him occupied is a great idea - he is very curious with everything going on so something to distract and preoccupy him would help. He hasn't been that interested in the normal toys that we have got for him but I've ordered a Nylabone and also Thundershirt (never knew such things existed but having done some reading it may well suit him). Also going to try the worn tshirt - don't know why I didn't think of that. Andy's also going to be doing more of the feeding and walking - whilst Champ's arrival timed with the lovely weather has been great for me, for Andy it's meant having to catch up on a lot of farm work and not having the time with Champ we had planned. My concern has not been about the things he has chewed but that I was not doing the right things to help him settle - we've had dogs for years but having a greyhound is obviously going to be very different, especially compared to the 2 we have now. On the plus side, house training is going really well - he goes to stand by the back door now when he needs to go and we have had no accidents since Saturday (and never at night). Today has also been much better - he seems a bit more settled, has shown a little interest in toys and is spending more time with the girls and in his bed. I've been doing things in other parts of the house for short periods and then coming back to him. He was curious and concerned at first but by tonight he has taken less notice - when I told him I was going for a shower he didn't even move from his bed and he was still there when I came back. He is a super chap so he will have all the time and patience he needs. At the minute he is fast asleep with Daisy alongside him again xx

Oh gosh Ruth I am really upset to hear about bandit , I just hope he is ok and his leg is ok, my heart just goes out to the returnees especially for Bandit as he waited so long for his chance to be rehomed, what a sad start to the week, I will keep all my fingers crossed that Bandit is ok and recovers from his lameness 🙁

Well our beautiful little addition to the family has had another eventful day. After her deciding that the best time to start playing with her squeaky toy was just as we got into bed, John slept on the floor with her last night as she was up and down checking to make sure we were still close at hand. We all synchronised and had a 2am wee break (us indoors and Rosie up the road) before settling back down again. Waking at 6ish, she was as good as gold going out into the back garden to have another. Breakfast was a treat with a little sprinkling of grated cheese on top of her Burns, which I'm convinced she ate slightly slower than yesterday. Today Rosie has seen 'Nan' again and had lots of cuddles from her and auntie Jacky. We've been on two 45 minute walks and a short 15 minute route late afternoon. She ate all her tea at 4.15 which was a cup of Burns and cooked shredded chicken. A few short naps on the lounge rug/duvet/blanket set up, but always keeping one eye on us to know where we are. We've brought 3 runners for the laminate flooring which have been a great help to her getting around when excited. We adore this girl to bits and do hope that she knows we're going to be around for a very, very long time. Tash & John

Just to let you know that a greyhounds straight line on a walk is probably not the same as ours - I have the same problem with Jed I'm sure if observed some might think we had a slight drink problem!!

This is such sad news. Someone perfect for bandit will find him. Better he's back with auntie Ruth and Kate and all the fabulous volunteers than somewhere inappropriate to his needs! X

Oh Bandit my boy, I just don't know what to say about this awful news. How sad for you, you must be very confused at the moment and wondering what's going on. I will see you on Friday and give you an especially big cuddle, and lets keep fingers crossed that the right home for you comes along very soon. Big cuddles sweetheart. xxxxx
