Caesar and Barney visited us at the kennels earlier in the week. They were both very happy and enjoyed the attention from us all. :)) Thanking Erik and his family for all they have done for both Barney and Caesar this year. So sad Charlotte will be missing from your home this Christmas but she will always be in your hearts. Xxx Lots of love to you all.

    I’m a Sponsor Dog

We allowed ourselves time to grieve over Charlotte, this was probably more a human need then that Caesar needed it. He always bounces back so easily, and lives live to the full, day by day and taking opportunities when they arise. I cannot speak for others, but I certainly can learn from him. One thing both Caesar and Barney still do is, after they had their food, when they come back in from the garden to relief themselves, they run to the hallway to check for food that charlotte may have left. This is a behaviour they learned when charlotte was alive, as she was a slow eater and not always ate all her food. So, there may be food in their bowls and hence they to this day they still run to their bowls to check. He is enjoying searching for food in the garden. I cut up carrots and scatter them in the garden and I also hide carrots in the soil. I sometimes do the same with small sausages cut up and scatter them in the garden. It is a really easy way of keeping any dog active by scavenging for food. Caesar certainly enjoys the activity and keeps his brain active. Caesar went with me to drop of my wife and daughter at Milton Keyness Train station when they went for a day out in London. Of course he loved the different smells and sights. More importantly he loves being in the car, most of the time he will watch what is going on. Caesar, is such a loving and happy go lucky dog. He always enjoys meeting people and getting his cuddles and trying to investigate the content of their shopping bag ????. We had several visitors coming around and that was quite exciting for both Caesar and Barney. They greeted the guests enthusiastically and were happy to see them and get cuddles. These days he wants to sleep next to me. I was first a bit concerned about it but he may just be needing some re-assurance and emotional comfort, which is fine Tina O’Hara kindly provided some essential oil for Caesar to try and help him with the cancer. He smelled them and walked away, this was with the bottle closed. Mind you, for me, it was also a strong smell. For Caesar it was, thank you, but no thanks. Tina then sent me some herbal powder and Caesar is ok with that, again this is to try and help Caesar with his Cancer. Tina thank you very much for your kindness we really appreciate this. As mentioned, Caesar is doing really well and you would not say there is anything wrong with him. He is even doing so well that he is about to beat the prognoses given form him in April. That is quite amazing and we hope he will beat his prognosis given in August which was 6 to 9 months. We haven’t noticed any further growth of the tumour. Caesar and Barney would want to wish all a brilliant Christmas and a Happy and healthy New Year.

Gorgeous Poppy arrived today. :)) What a very pretty girl. Shirley would have taken her home....but she already has four beautiful Greyhounds! Xxx Cath who is fostering Pops visited us today after dropping Pops off at the vets for his neutering op. She brought along her fabulous small dog Pod. We tested Will, Stan Boss and Poppy with her. They all did really well. :)) Cath picked Pops up after his op, we are so grateful for her help today. Xxx It was lovely to see Linda, Paul, Peggy and finally meet Lulu. :)) She is the smallest Greyhound I have ever met and so very cute! Xxx Ruth was busy in the office...with the help of Jean, think they were beginning to win the battle! Calendars are still selling well, thank you. We still have Christmas cards available too. :)) Thanks so much to everyone for all your help today. Xxx We have another new arrival tomorrow! Another young lady! :)) Xxx

    I’m Homed

After a very busy weekend there were only three dogs left in the kennels this morning! Stan, Will and Boss. They all enjoyed the extra attention. :)) We have three new arrivals due in this week starting with a young lady called Another Delight tomorrow. :)) Ruth and Jude were very busy trying to catch up with paperwork, calendar and Christmas card orders. We are so grateful to everyone who has supported us purchasing a Calendar, I think we have now sold out of slimline ones. We had visits from three gorgeous lads for nail clipping. Timmy, Ice and Dasher. Dasher arrived wearing a beautiful Christmas bow, looking extremely handsome! :)) Xxx We also had a visit from Erik, Barney and Caesar. Caesar is still looking great and is very happy with his best mate Barney. Thinking of Erik's young Daughter, Sophia who is missing their beautiful Greyhound Charlotte who passed away recently. Xxx Lee, Mollie, Liam and myself took down the Gazebos in the sand run. It did take us a while....but we got there in the end! :)) Yvonne and Myra did a lot of much needed cleaning and sorting of donated bedding. Thanks so much to everyone for your hard work. Xxx

I’m glad to see Quivers has gone out to foster. I met her on Wednesday when Ebony had her nails trimmed. She was so stressed. Such a pretty little girl too ;-))

    I’m Homed

This kind sweet Girl is a dream ?? We had Quivers over night Saturday. She was a very good girl, she was so happy and loved a fuss, she loved our Grey Sam and they shared the space of our home well. We went for a walk and she was good on the lead and enjoyed meeting other dogs. She ate her food well and drank plenty of water too. She goes out in the garden to toilet on command, she had a little accident but was at the back door and we didn’t get the message quick enough ???? She took a while to settle at night but did sleep downstairs better on a folded up quilt and cosy blanket. Quivers is a beautiful girl loving and so affectionate, she got on well with Sam and I think she would be great as a single dog or with others as she likes all the fuss but good at sharing too. She doesn’t mind being picked up to get in cars and even carried up stairs lol She will make someone a wonderful loving pet

Anyone who’s looking to adopt one of the greys, please don’t forget the ones who are out on foster. It’s often because they’re not happy in kennels and need to have people or dogs around them but they also need their forever sofas. Thank you on their behalf 🙂 xx

  • Woody

    I’m Homed

Woody is still with us as a foster dog. He is a real sweetheart. He’s still a little nervous if there are unexpected noises but he’s more confident now when he meets people when we’re out on a walk. He’s happy to meet any dog on a lead, and mid-sized or larger dogs off lead, but seems fascinated by smaller dogs that are running around and can’t seem to know what to make of them. Once they’ve slowed down for a sniff, he’s ok, but he needs more practice to realise they’re ok if they’re running past. He still likes spending time upstairs but comes down regularly and has started to spend parts of an evening in the lounge with us. Please someone, give this gorgeous boy his forever home. He’d be fine in a house with or without other greys, and I expect would be fine with larger dogs but may need time to meet and get to know smaller dogs. He’d also be fine with older children. Xx
