I also arrived at the kennels in the middle of a blizzard this morning! My ever faithful little Skip insisted on coming with me, wrapped up in two coats and his snood! Bless him. Xxx So grateful to Angie and Michael for feeding and cleaning the boys and girls. 🙂 Xxx Thanks to everyone for their help today, we were able to go out for both walks. Little Quivers wasn't too keen to go out this morning but was fine once she got going. :)) This afternoon she was more than happy to join the others for a stroll. Xxx It was great to see Jetlucy this morning. She and Mia popped in to see us and brought some lovely treats for the dogs. Mia gave everyone a doggie donut. 🙂 Xx Joe went off to his new home, had a wee up the chair in the office just before he left! Sure he wanted to leave us a reminder of him! :)) Bless him. Wishing him a very happy new life. Xxx A lovley family came to visit the dogs and are hoping to adopt one of our boys or girls in the near future. Xxx A big thank you to Jez our Saturday student for all his help today. It was just us two left this afternoon. Xxx Left everyone snug in their kennels tonight. :)) Skip and I were very happy to see all the snow had gone by going home time! Xxx

I came on an overnight dash to Birmingham with mom. She was sorry that she didn’t have time to visit the kennels but we had to complete an important mission. I had no idea what was going on but we went to where Samantha works. We were there a while and then Samantha came out carrying one of those small cratey things mom uses to take Maud and Dora to the place of dooooooooom, I hates it there! We then drove home and when mom opened it there was a tiny weeny kitten in it. It’s my new brother Sydney. Mom says I have been such a good girl with Sydney and she’s very proud of me. Florence xxx

What a wild, stormy night it was last night - and with that in mind we headed out to the kennels a bit earlier this morning, and the closer we got, the harder the snow came down!! It was a swirling blizzard on arrival (I kid you not) but fortunately all doggies were absolutely fine, snug & cosy in their centrally heated kennels! The only casualties of the storm were a Christmas tree which had been blown over scattering baubles everywhere, and the canopy that stood over the donation cart - it had taken off but somehow managed to land covering the front of the cart and sheltering it from the worst of the snow & wind! Gold stars for all the residents as every single kennel was lovely and clean - making my job very easy, thankyou boys & girls. Well, its stopped snowing now but it's still blowing & absolutely freezing - and its not Winter yet!! Stay warm & safe everyone Angie xx

Woody
I’m Homed
Woody has been staying with us since Monday. He was understandably unsettled on Monday night but within a day or two, he settled well. He prefers staying upstairs to lie down, but comes downstairs regularly for a fuss or to see what’s going on. He gives a wonderful welcome home if we’ve been out - a very waggy tail indeed. He loves his walks but is a bit nervous of people walking past. He hasn’t met many other dogs yet when we’ve been out so we’ll wait to see how that goes. He is clean in the house and sleeps well at night and he loves his food. He’s a really lovely boy x

We were all geared up for a busy day today - which didn't materialize, so another early post from me as the kennels winds down for the day. It was blooming wet & blooming cold today - we did manage to sandwich the walks between the monsoon downpours, but crikey it did come down at times - there were rivers running and we had to barricade the bottom block doors to keep it out!!! The lovely Quivers arrived this morning - what a friendly, lively little girl she is. Hope she has a good first night and settles in soon. Our other new arrivals have been postponed for a couple of days. Unsurprisingly it was very quiet for visitors today, so we managed to get all the recent bedding donations sorted and put away. Well, another weekend is upon us - and lets hope the weather forecast is wrong!!! The boys & girls are all tucked up tonight with their fleece coats, underbed heating and heaters on in the blocks - I think I may stay here as it is very cosy!! A drop of medicinal brandy may be on the cards later!! - raised to toast all our beautiful boys & girls, hoping all those out on foster are being good and benefiting from their time out in a home, and hoping for forever homes for everyone soon. Whatever you are up to this weekend, stay warm and enjoy. Cheers! Angie xx

So happy she's been rehomed so quickly and sad we won't get to see her on Saturday. But most importantly that she's got a new home 🙂 xx

So….I went to the kennels on Monday afternoon to put together some homing packs and as I walked in, Woody had just been returned and was looking very sad. So I brought him home to foster until he finds a new forever home. Then this afternoon I went back to the kennels to finish off the homing packs, and Jess had come back in from her foster home and was really unsettled……so I brought her home too. Hopefully she’ll have a new longer term foster home on Saturday until she gets her forever home but I’m getting worried about going in to the kennels next week to do the homing packs for the 3 new dogs who are coming in tomorrow in case I keep bringing more dogs home! I’m sure Ruth would be happy for me to do that but our 3 greys might leave home and go somewhere quieter :)) Of course I’d have them all if I could…….

This rehoming thing is so difficult sometimes , I mean we always try to make sure that Jeff is safe when we go out in the garden for a wee and keep him shut in the house and we keep him on 2 leads when we are out and the rest of the time we sleep , he never normally goes out but today he went out for a coffee with some work colleagues and apparently when he was walking back a few yards from the house he was met by a nice Policeman who had had to stop his car becuase he nearly hit a big black dog "Looked a bit like a greyhound or a big whippet" , Jeff came running in in a panic and we were just still on our bed that he sleeps in , I am seriously unsure if we are ever going to let him out again , of course it wasn't' going to be us , turns out it was the black greyhound from the house over the road and she is back home now but we just can't let him out on his own any suggestions on how to keep him safe ? Loads of love Jess and Celia xx
