Thought I would tidy Ray and Shelly's kennel before I went home tonight... As I put the blankets back on the bed Ray took them off again one by one! He is a fantastic young lad, I hope it won't be long before his forever home comes along, I am sure there will never be a dull moment with him! Xxx

    Over the Rainbow Bridge

Pleased to report that Sparky had no problems with the recent thunder storms. He slept through the one overnight Monday (!) and just kept glancing around occasionally during the morning yesterday to see where the noise was coming from! He had us in hysterics this afternoon - he was lying dozing in his basket when suddenly he shot up, ears alert and quivering and started growling, tilting his head on one side. For a moment we couldn't understand what was wrong, then we spotted a collared dove strutting up and down along the top of the fence outside the kitchen- he really didn't know what to make of it at all and reacted in typical Sparky fashion!! He does get very excited by fluffy things moving bless him, and we have been trying a bit of training with him to try to calm him down when he spots cats, bunnies etc and have taken to walking him on a harness again. He seems a lot happier and responds so much better to you. We are loving fostering this fabulous boy, but having had him here for 5 weeks, my worry is he is getting too used to us and our routine. We are so hoping that his forever home comes along before we go away on our hols and have to send him back to the kennels. Fingers crossed my sweetheart. XxX

Well, what can i say about Roxy! She is a beautiful, gentle, spirited girl who gives wonderful cuddles! Our 3 girls love her and she is wonderful with them, our youngest who has Autism is very much enjoying having a new playmate and they are getting along fantastically. Roxy has shown a real interest in tea towels, bean bags and especially fabric draught excluders and is forever taking them to her comfy spot in the living room, we set up an area in the corner of the room with lots of soft cushions and she loves nothing more than to curl up there and snooze! She loves a treat and mealtimes are very amusing, the moment she sees us take the can of pilchards out of the fridge, or hears her bowl being moved she is up, jumping and wagging her tail! Roxy is incredibly good when out walking, and relishes every minute 🙂 and her excitement and wagging tail when she sees us in the morning is just beautiful. She has only been with us for 5 days but she has stolen our hearts and completed our family!

Tessa visited the vets last night, all o.k. with chin wound and she has now finished her course of tablets. Yesterday we had a little barking but all were doing it when the thunder came and as usual no one would go outside with the pouring rain, but no accidents in the house they all just waited. Bouncing around treat time hardly noticeable, so getting there. Tessa lying close by no problem. Sylv

    I’m Homed

I have had Tulip at home with me since the beginning of June. She is the sweetest little girl. She is totally house trained, good with mine and sleeps well at night. She can be left throughout the day with no stressing (I have watched her on the cameras linked to the house) but she does like the company of another dog. She is great on the lead and getting much better meeting and greeting other dogs. She is at home with me because she was so very stressed at the kennels. I am desperate to find her a new home as I am worried she is getting so used to our routine. If you could possibly offer Tulip a home, please please give me a call. She is a very happy affectionate little girl and would be good with older children. Unfortunately she is not cat friendly.

  • Bess

    Over the Rainbow Bridge

My Bess has been really unsettled with the thunderstorm this morning. She didn't want her breakfast - this is the dog that eats practically anything and a lot of it too. I do believe she 'sensed' a storm coming. Yesterday morning she ran up the stairs and would not come down, even when I tried to coax her with treats. I kept telling her to get down, but she wouldn't take any notice, she has never ever been defiant and stubborn in all the time I've had her until this incident. I feel sure she was afraid of the pending thunderstorm and just wanted to get somewhere she felt was safe.xx

Everyone was fine in the thunderstorm this morning...we had a little problem with one of the drains overflowing; Belle, Polly and Max ended up paddling in their kennels for a while but didn't seem to mind and it was soon sorted. All the dogs were far more interested in breakfast than the storm! Xxx
