    Over the Rainbow Bridge

Hello Our Tom loves to chase bees!. We were worried the other night that he had been stung but thankfully not. Having bee loving plants in our garden the bees for some reason fly around on the patio, which is where our three greyhounds go for a wee etc. Last year I bought a bottle of children's Benydryl just in case he had a severe reaction as last Summer He got stung on his foot. I have read on the Internet conflicting advice on the dosage to give them if required and that the children's bottle is half the strength of the other one. I have read some good advice on how to treat stings but wondered if anyone can advise on this treatment. We do watch our three when they are outside but being greyhounds they are so quick to react to a bee and I want to be able to deal with any issues. Thanks.

Well tonight is Norris's night to shine. He's taking his silver Good Citizen tonight. The only problem is, he's decided he can't be bothered with doing what I say. He's only going to do what he wants, when he wants and how he wants. Hopefully we should pass one of the 10 exercises - the question and answer session!

Gina arrived this afternoon with her sister Josie. They both were treated to a bath and they have come home with me as they are both off tomorrow to the vets for speying. They have all settled down nicely and I hope we have a quiet night as along with the girls we also have Tulip stopping here as she was speyed today.

Oh Bunny, what a strange thing to take exception to!! Might have something to do with the smell, it may have unpleasant associations for her - or it could just be a really weird phobia! Bless her it sounds like she is doing so well, and definitely benefitting from her time with you and some doggy companions. All the best. xx

    I’m Homed

Sara our volunteer kindly took Sarah home on Tuesday night, the day she was returned as she was not settling in her new home. I brought her home last night and I am starting some serious training with her. She is an adorable little girl but can get very anxious by pacing in circles even when you are around. She has her thunder coat to help her anxiety and about an hour after she arrived, I was able to leave her for 15 minutes downstairs where she settled quietly with our 6. I think she will need a home with other dogs for company as she picks up on their behaviour. Luckily for me - Foxy was on his best behaviour last night and was very calm and gentle around her. I did let her sleep upstairs and she slept like a log - only waking once to get up, turn round and settle straight back down. She has been very clean, taking herself outside with ours to toilet and she has a fantastic appetite! She will come to the kennels today but back home with me again tonight. I am appealing for a very understanding foster/permanent home for this little girl who just needs serious training. She is not too bad with cats and fine with other breeds. Please give me a call if you need any more info - Ruth 0121 782 7702 x

    Over the Rainbow Bridge

Bless her.... Bunny has started to play with the toys! She watched Lena chasing round with her long-legged monkey in the garden yesterday and then had a little go herself once Lena had finished. Then later on she watched Lena go and get her snowman out from the toy pile in the lounge, and Bunny went and helped herself to the furry father christmas toy! How clever of her to continue the Christmas theme 🙂 ! Now a really weird one.....Bunny dislikes it when we grill anything other than bacon! She stands in the room next door to the kitchen and does little barks and growls and will then run out into the garden and bark to get the other 2 out there with her. OK so it's been lamb both times - the first time lamb steaks and then some home made lamb burgers. Bacon grilling at breakfast time has no effect on her at all. Last night after the burger episode, I coaxed her into the lounge and gave her a sniff of some calming essential oils (Paul has been to a seminar on zoopharmacognosy and we got some to try to help Lola with her fear of fireworks - I'm sure he'd happily talk to anyone who is interested) Anyway... Bunny settled down for a nap, we ate our spicy lamb burgers and all was peaceful once more! We'll have to see how this strange phobia pans out....not sure why she can't just be worried about the vacuum cleaner or something more 'normal'!! Bunny is really starting to come out of her shell and I'm so keen to find her a home of her own. She is clean in the house, walks beautifully, mixes well with our 2 girls and has been left for several hours with Lola & Lena for company. To round it all off she is a real cuddle monster and is such a loving little girl. If anyone is interested, please talk to Ruth and we can arrange to get her to the kennels for a viewing, or she is usually there during the day Sat & Sun. Linda xx
