I think over the last few years this is one of the saddest times I have read the discussion board. I was so apprehensive to log on this morning as it fills me with tears, I think because Finch's age is so close to Rose our beautiful greyhound. I love the oldies and really feel for them that they need safe loving homes. I have comfort to read that Finch has been so well cared by Ruth and Daybreaks. xxx.

Such a tragic story. I can't help but think about Finch's previous owner too, it's such a shame. However, it sounds like she's had a lovely few days and been treated like a queen, even though she sounds so poorly. Big hugs to you Ruth and everyone else who's been touched by this lady's story. Hi Honey'smom, thanks so much for this. Made me feel better.....daisy dog is a real home girl...just like your Honey. Your comments made me think of her behaviour in different way....funnily enough though with dogs shes ok, its just people and things and places that she doesn't like! And strangely enough she loves having her lead put on - wags her tail and gets excited. Perhaps for her the car is her walk! Really appreciate your reply. x

Today is going to be difficult - I am taking Finch to the vets at 11am. She slept on our bed last night (now in the wash due to the amount of blood on it) and has just had a lovely breakfast of sausage and ham which she loved! This morning will be not sad but a happy one of lots of cuddles due to the pleasure of having this beautiful girl be part of our lives for just a few days. The sad part is her prognosis which is out of my control so I have to concentrate on what I can do for her for the best and that is to make her as happy and comfortable as possible. She is going to have me driving her crazy this morning smiling and chatting to her and taking lots of photos! She has such a happy waggy tail and has started smiling at me which I love 🙂

Missfifi sorry to hear about Daisy being so nervous - my Honey (racing name True Sally) is also of the nervous disposition and she has the same Dad as your Daisy (Droopy Scholes) so wonder if it is something in the genes! Honey loves the car but went through a terrible spell were once she was in it she would not get out of it and even now when we go to the shops in the village we have to park in a certain place or she absolutely freezes and won't come out of the car - sometimes it is really hard work but I think of it like a person with autism or aspergers (sure that isn't spelt right) where they just cannot handle things that are not in their normal routine and it all becomes quite scary. Honey is a real home dog and that is where she feels safe and secure and going out in the big wide world can be a real trauma for her at times. Have you thought of trying one of the training classes? Honey loves it (although wary of the bouncier more boisterous dogs) but it is the only time she willingly comes to me to have her lead put on. Just to make you smile - Honey froze the other night as she was about to jump out of the car as she spotted the daffodils in the garden and had obviously never seen them before! Also the greyhound walks are good for building their confidence - Honey turns to walk in the other direction as soon as she sees a dog when we are out walking on our own but on the Sutton walks surrounding by the pack of greyhounds she is as happy as larry and does not bat an eyelid at any of the other dogs in the park. I'll be watching your progress with fingers crossed that things improve for you both but (like Honey) I am sure she is happy in her own little world being spoilt by Mom!! xx
