Miss Fairy Pants Florence has been with us 5 years today!!! She is the most wonderful, loving, loyal girl. (And starting a romance with Ozzie!) Thank you Daybreaks for letting us become her family. She’s had her favourite sausages for lunch! Xxx

I took Mikey off to the vets first thing this morning for his neutering and dental. His operation took some time as he had to have quite a few teeth removed. He wasn't ready to come back until 5pm. I got stuck in traffic going to collect him and we didn't get back to the kennels until after 6pm....poor Mikey was very hungry! He really enjoyed his dinner! Hoping he will feel better tomorrow. We had visits from some old friends who we haven't seen for a while, Margaret who lost her lovely Stefie a few months ago, popped in and instantly fell in love with Billy 🙂 Thanks so much for taking him for a walk. Xx We also saw Coco and his family. He had come to use the sand run and his Mum bought him some new cuddly toys to take home. He looked absolutely gorgeous and is settling very well in his new home. :)) It was good to see Matthew one of our long time volunteers in today. :)) Great to see Helen, Andy and gorgeous Chunky Charlie. :)) Now officially a member of their family. :)) Xxx Declan and James gave the van a really good clean inside and out! Thanks so much! :))) Yvonne was in bright and early cleaning and collecting the poo up! 🙂 Richard and Shirley were in too, but had to leave early as accident prone Murphy has and hurt his eye and had an appointment with the vet. Poor lad. Xx Two new arrivals due to tomorrow followed by one on Thursday and one more on Friday. Xxx

Lots of gentle hugs for Mikey tonight. He was neutered today and also had to have quite a lot of teeth removed. He was a very good boy at the vets and met a Dachshund puppy outside, he only looked at her trying to decide what she was and he was quite surprised when she barked at him! 🙂 Xxx

Cracker

Cracker went on his first holiday last week. 🙂 We all went to Woolacombe in Devon. Skip and Lyra have been many times and always enjoy themselves. Xxx Cracker was a really good boy and had a great time. He must have seen nearly every possible breed of dog there! Once he had sniffed a few he realised that although they didn't look like a Greyhound they were dogs too! It was really lovely to be able to spend lots of time with Cracker, Skip and Lyra. 🙂 Xxx

What a lovely, sunny day! Hard to believe it is September. :)) We had another new student and a new volunteer start today. Welcome to Mollie and Josh. 🙂 After being away on holiday last week I was hoping our gorgeous couple Lady and Mikey might have found their forever home together....maybe this week! Xxx We are expecting some new arrivals later this week. :)) Jacko, (Horgans Magic) who has been on our website as coming soon will not be coming to Daybreaks. He has found his forever home with his owners. Wishing him a very happy new life. Xxx

Daybreaks Diary!
I’m Homed
A much quieter day in contrast to the manic goings on of yesterday! A massive thanks to everyone for their help today, we had a new Duke of Edinburgh volunteer today...Lois. She really got into the Daybreaks swing of things, she did walks, helped with a health check and generally got stuck in :)) Thanks too to Ricky and Jess who took Mikey the Younger out for the day. I think they must have taken a different dog with them, although wary of some men, he totally fell for Ricky (mutual feelings me thinks)! He met lots of dogs of all shapes, sizes and nature. He was totally amazing. He also experienced being around crowds of people and again was fantastic. He had such a glowing report, it must be his turn for a forever home soon. As it was quieter for visitors it meant that some jobs that have sadly fallen behind with being sorted were done. The drainage channels in the kennel blocks were thoroughly scrubbed, hosed and disinfected. Dave and I sorted the dog coats in the shop and updated the stock on the till, we have some lovely fleeces in stock, I could have spent a fortune (probably still could) but decided to be sensible (how boring) and check what I have at home first. I still think Good Boy Flloyd would look rather fetching in the pink llama fleece, he is often mistaken for a girl as he is very small for a boy!! Thanks to Steve and Sue for collecting donations from Pets at Home in Stratford, it was lovely to see them...it's been a while. Hoping everyone is staying safe and well. Take care.
