Over the Rainbow Bridge
Happy Birthday to our dear old Paddy...13 today Its been an up and down year with some health issues but generally he’s very good for his age. We think having Belle join our family helped to give him a boost as he loves her and they share his big bed now and then. The main thing he has to contend with in old age are his wobbly back legs, they seemed to have declared independence and they sometimes do their own thing and Paddy will look at them as if to say why won’t you do what I tell you! One thing for certain he still enjoys his food and we will be serving his favourite Lily’s kitchen for dinner. Walks have to be taken at a slow pace and kept short but he still gets out and about ok and its quite funny watching him have a slow carefree amble around the garden. Big hugs super Padster xx

Billy

Billy has taken a few backward steps this week. 🙁 He has been very reluctant to go for walks. Lucy took him out today. She said he was very worried about the workmen in the lane, he wouldn't walk any further and they came back to the kennels. He is still nervous of the heavy traffic on the Coventry Road. Alan is right, inside there is a happy playful Billy! Xxx When everyone had gone home tonight and it was quiet he was happy to come out of his kennel to go to the toilet. Sending him my cuddle tonight. Such a sweet boy. Xxx

Daybreaks Diary!

Another neutering operation today, this time it was Bullet's turn. Ruth dropped him off and James picked him up in our newly repaired van! :)) He was very happy, lively and hungry when he got back. :)) Xxx Richard and Declan spent the morning repairing loose slabs!,They like to make a noise! :)) Ruth has been busy sorting all the trackers this week. Some of them unfortunately do not work properly anymore. 🙁 It's been a very time consuming job. Many thanks to everyone for your help today. The weather wasn't too bad for walks. 🙂 Alan brought chocolate donuts in today! Thank you. Xxx The temperature has definitely taken a dip this week, the fleecy coats are back out again...my Skip, Lyra and Cracker are wearing their fleeces at night now too. :)) Xxx

Billy

Poor Billy can be a bit nervous and want to stay in his kennel and we had a bit of a job getting him to come out for his dinner today. In the end I had to gently pick him up and take him to the run. One thing that stands out is there is another Billy trying to come through and part of him wants to be friends. I think he would benefit from living with another more outgoing dog who could show him that the post racing world is nothing to be scared of. The lucky family that eventually adopts him and gains his trust with patience and care will have a very loving and loyal pet in return. Billy is a very special boy and he loves custard cream biscuits xx

Daybreaks Diary!

Miserable, sunny, miserable and sunny again summed up today. Thanks as always to our Wednesday walkers and all our lovely volunteers. Helen and Dave managed to drag themselves back after their holiday, lol x Paddy was absolutely fine after his neuter yesterday, he was not happy about not going on a walk and quite vocally mad his displeasure known! Ruth was in first thing despite feeling awful (and sounding equally as bad) and sorted out the issues with the kennel trackers. Thankfully as the day progressed she started to sound much better, if not feeling better. She had a patient for corn removal too, always uplift her I think. Hope everyone is staying safe and well, take care.

It was Paddy's turn to be neutered today. He was a very good boy in the car and sat down after a couple of minutes. 🙂 When I went to collect him this afternoon I took Lady for a check up too. Xx Paddy had taken quite a liking to his vet and was doing his best Greyhound lean! 🙂 If only the vet didn't have several cats!! Xxx We managed to get the morning walks done before the rain arrived. This afternoon was rather wet but Declan and Charlie took the dogs out into the sandrun for a break from their kennels, x As usual Richard and Declan were kept busy with fixing things! I'm sure Richard will be pleased to hear the guttering stood up to the torrential downpour we had shortly before Ruth and I went home. :)) Xxx

Our lovely Mikey R has been fostered while he recovers from the infection in his paw. He had to have X-rays today so had another long day at the vets with no breakfast! We are very grateful to Caroline for taking him home. Xxx Sending Mikey my cuddle tonight. Xxx
