Daybreaks Diary!

What a whirlwind of a day that was!! Daybreaks is bursting at the seams with doggies now following the arrival of the lovely Alice & handsome Nico. To make space for the newbies we moved Mikey up to the kitchen kennel and run. Well, he was in his element lying on the bed outside watching the world go by. The kennel itself is behind the staff kitchen and has a stable door, so we opened the top half and had periodic visits from Mikey during the day whenever he heard someone in the kitchen. I wish I could say that at no point did he receive any treats or cheese - but you know that of course he did!! I took a couple of cute photos of him & will get Michael to put them on Facebook later. I tried all the residents on slices of apple this morning - suffice to say it was not a huge success!! The only hounds to really enjoy a crunchy treat were Bullet and Tina - everyone else turned their noses up and gave me the look that said "what is this you are giving me?!?!?!" We had a visit from a lady bringing in a huge shopping bag full of tins of tuna in spring water - thankyou. She had just intended to drop off her kind donation, but ended up having a look round - then going in to a couple of kennels to sit with the dogs, then fell completely under the Greyhound spell and she has signed up as a volunteer!! With health checks, new arrivals, 11 dogs to walk & feed and more preparations for Sunday's event, the day absolutely flew past and it was soon time to tuck the boys & girls up in bed. Hope that Nico & Alice have a good first night, they had found things a bit bewildering but seemed quite settled when we left. Well the weekend is here again. Tickets for the Halloween Howl are still available, but we would appreciate it if we could know final numbers by tomorrow lunchtime so we can go shopping for supplies!! Keep fingers crossed that the forecast is correct and the rain has stopped by 6pm as promised!! I shall certainly raise a glass or two of wine later after such a busy day to our new arrivals and our current residents, wishing forever homes for them very soon. Hope to see many of you on Sunday evening. As ever, stay safe & well - cheers! Angie xx

A busy day today... Lily was returned this morning. Such a very happy bouncy girl. She was understandably quite stressed to find herself back at the kennels. She has very kindly been fostered by the family who are fostering Billy too. Bless them! Best of all she has a viewing on Saturday. :))) Thanks to our lovely walkers the boys and girls all enjoyed morning and afternoon strolls on what was a pleasant Autumn day. New arrival Wanda is gorgeous and has settled well into her new environment. Xxx Richard, Declan, Alan and James were kept busy putting up the Gazebos ready for the Halloween Howl and Memorial event on Sunday evening. Please come along if you are able for the memorial service and light a candle for a much loved and missed family member. I know many of us have lost those who are dear to us in recent months. Xxx Many thanks to everyone for all your help today...I would especially like to thank my lovely Cracker for finding a squeaky toy just before we went home and running around the kennels with it waking everyone up and disturbing the peace! :)))) Xxx

A dry day thankfully which meant all dogs had morning and afternoon walks. Thanks as always to our Wednesday walkers, Denise, Dave, Chris and Gill. We had a very pretty new arrival, Wanda, she seemed a little unsure of her new surroundings and was quite timid to begin with. She was really good when having her bath and welcome health check and really enjoyed her dinner. Sadly, due to her owners I'll health we have Lilly coming back tomorrow, please, if you would like to come and view any of the dogs give the kennels a call. We have tickets still available for the Halloween Howl on Sunday, they are £5.00 each, you wi?l receive a tea light in a holder as well as a jacket potato (various fillings will of course be available)!! There will calendars and merchandise for sale, so give us a call and book your tickets over the phone or pop in. As always stay safe and well. Xx

Thanks so much to Norman for taking Tiff for a trip to the park today. She really is a very beautiful, happy girl. She does have a gluten intolerance but once she is in a home with a good stable diet she shouldn't have any problems. :)) She does love her food! Hoping she will soon find her forever home. Xxx
