Daybreaks Diary!

A relatively quiet day for visitors today. Many thanks to everyone who came in to help with the dogs, those that could had morning and afternoon walks. Mikey the Older was very bright after his neutering and dental yesterday, despite being 20 teeth lighter he still enjoyed his breakfast and dinner today. Two of our Wednesday walkers had the audacity to go on holiday, they didn't even ask permission, what a cheek, their card is marked and they have been noted as absent, they will be dealt with upon their return!! We had two lovely new arrivals, Paddy, a lovely young black dog and Tiff a slightly older brindle girl. Thanks to our lovely college work experience student Annie for helping with health checking, bathing and learning how we add the dogs to the website. She also walked her namesake who is due to go home tomorrow. We have two new arrivals due over the next couple of days, both boys. It was great to see Lynne and Simon with their doggie family, I think Skip, Sam and Naddie needed to expel some much needed energy in the sand run, hopefully it worked!! It's with great sadness I have to post that Mike Stewart Lawrence who's band were doing a fundraiser for the kennels and was a regular sand run user on a Wednesday and Sunday missed his appointment last Wednesday. I was about to call him to make sure everything was ok. Before I could I had a call from his dear friend and backing singer asking if we had seen him. Very sadly, when access to him home was gained , it was found that he had very sadly passed away. He was in his favourite chair and looked so very peaceful. Such a gent and a wonderful character. He will be sadly missed. It's ironic that his fundraiser should have been on 11th September and was postponed. Thinking of his family, friends and his dog Jodie. Sorry to end on such a sad note, makes it all the more important to stay safe and look after each other. X

Miss Fairy Pants Florence has been with us 5 years today!!! She is the most wonderful, loving, loyal girl. (And starting a romance with Ozzie!) Thank you Daybreaks for letting us become her family. She’s had her favourite sausages for lunch! Xxx

I took Mikey off to the vets first thing this morning for his neutering and dental. His operation took some time as he had to have quite a few teeth removed. He wasn't ready to come back until 5pm. I got stuck in traffic going to collect him and we didn't get back to the kennels until after 6pm....poor Mikey was very hungry! He really enjoyed his dinner! Hoping he will feel better tomorrow. We had visits from some old friends who we haven't seen for a while, Margaret who lost her lovely Stefie a few months ago, popped in and instantly fell in love with Billy 🙂 Thanks so much for taking him for a walk. Xx We also saw Coco and his family. He had come to use the sand run and his Mum bought him some new cuddly toys to take home. He looked absolutely gorgeous and is settling very well in his new home. :)) It was good to see Matthew one of our long time volunteers in today. :)) Great to see Helen, Andy and gorgeous Chunky Charlie. :)) Now officially a member of their family. :)) Xxx Declan and James gave the van a really good clean inside and out! Thanks so much! :))) Yvonne was in bright and early cleaning and collecting the poo up! 🙂 Richard and Shirley were in too, but had to leave early as accident prone Murphy has and hurt his eye and had an appointment with the vet. Poor lad. Xx Two new arrivals due to tomorrow followed by one on Thursday and one more on Friday. Xxx

Lady missed her friend Mikey today as he spent the day at the vets for his neutering op. She was very happy to see him when he came back tonight. It would be great to see them go off to their forever home together. Xxx

Billy met a new friend today. Margaret who lost he beloved Stefie a few months ago came to visit us. She sat with Billy in his kennel for quite a some time and took him for his afternoon walk. It was good for both of them. Xxx

Lots of gentle hugs for Mikey tonight. He was neutered today and also had to have quite a lot of teeth removed. He was a very good boy at the vets and met a Dachshund puppy outside, he only looked at her trying to decide what she was and he was quite surprised when she barked at him! 🙂 Xxx

Coco and his family came for a visit today. He had a stroll and sniff around the sand run and then came into the kennels for lots hugs and fuss. :)) He is a really lovely, happy, friendly lad, his family adore him and he adores them.:)) Xxx

It was lovely to see Helen and Andy today and wonderful for Chunky Charley to become an official member of their family! He looked great and very happy. :)) They have promised to visit again soon with little Peg and the twins Saddle and Roy! :)) Xxx
