Today Belle became a blood donor at the pet blood bank visiting Daybreaks. All the staff said she was the perfect patient. She came out sporting a life saver bandana along with a bag of goodies. She enjoyed a pigs ear treat reward before a nice snooze. We are so very proud of her, the list of achievements keeps getting longer, Belle is a super star hound xx

Caro, we have the same problem with our boy Douggie, he is very slender and has always been a nightmare at eating, I have tried everything, this last few months he got really thin so we tried him on tripe and now he's eating really well and is slowly putting a bit of weight on, but I do think some greyhounds are naturally slender and no matter what you do that's just how they are. I have always put grated cheese in my greys meals, helps keep their weight up and they love it. Good luck xx

    I’m Homed

Summer returned today! Phew very warm!! Libby went off to the vets first thing this moring. Thanks so much to Sue for taking her. I picked her up this evening. She was a little tired but managed to eat her dinner when she got back. 🙂 Hopefully she will feel a lot better tomorrow. Coco went off to his new home 🙂 What a lovely lad he is! Happy with a very waggy tail. Do hope all goes well for him and his new family. Xxx Many thanks to Yvonne, Myra, Dave, Louisa and Lee for all their help today. All the dogs enjoyed moring walks. As it was a little hot this afternoon most of the dogs went in the sand run for a short time. They enjoyed some time off lead doing their own thing. :)) Xxx Xxx

Just a question does any one else have issues with getting any weight on their grey. Firstly Penny is well, has a good appetite, wormed and has a lovely glossy coat. She carries a lot of muscle but no fat at all I would like see her fill out a little bit. Two meals a day Burns plenty of treats and even pigs ears. She was spayed about a month ago and the vet didn’t mention her weight.

Thanks for letting me know, at least he was loved and had a happy life. I had traced 2 of the other siblings, they were sent to Canada to race. I found this on Greyhound data. The one had a litter so Lennox was a grandad too. Sadly recently I went back onto the Data and no trace of these boys anymore, apart from them going to Pakistan ....

    I’m a Sponsor Dog

I, like so many have cried bucket loads of tears for this gorgeous boy. I echo what has been said about the love, care and support he is receiving from Erik and his family. Who knows how much time Caesar has, but we can all rest assured that however long or short it may be he will live life to the full with his wonderful family. Thanks to everyone who has supported with donating to his treatment, sadly as we know it was not successful but he was given the chance. Thank you so much. Xxx

Oh caesar, my heart breaks for you, it can be such a cruel world sometimes. We all have to take comfort in the fact that you haven't a clue what's going on apart from you've well and truly landed on your feet with Erik and his family and daybreaks continued support...what a lucky hound you are. Keep been your happy self and enjoying life to the full! Good luck my sweetheart xxx

    I’m Homed

Thanks to everyone for their help today. Lorna had pampers booked, some of her clients were less impressed than others. Lots of nail cutting for me...yay!! It was lovely to see so many ex-residents looking happy. I had a lovely update on Padmae (Porsche) this morning. She is being an absolute star, no trying to steal food, relaxed and clean in the house. Her family sat down to enjoy a takeaway yesterday and she went off to her bed and lay down, no begging at all. Thanks to everyone who came in with donations of bedding and treats, as always very welcome. Chunk had been cat tested over a few days, initially it looked promising that he may have been cat friendly, sadly as the testing progressed we found out he was not!! However, he has been reserved and all being well if everything goes well he has found a home with Peg, Saddle and Roy! Who can forget the spinning twins, they are still the same!!! Mikey the Younger spent thd day in his special run, he really enjoyed it and did not once try to get out. We are really looking forwards to next Sunday's open day and hope to see as many of you as possible. This is an outdoor event so plenty of outside space for all. As always stay safe and well. X
