Barney

Today has been a great day - not only did we have Tiggy's greyt get together (which I am sure Angie who organised it will tell you all about) but Mr Barney who has been out on foster since 17th April found himself with a 'homed' sign! I am over the moon. Barney went out to foster originally as he was quite unhappy in the kennels and also was recovering from a broken hock which had been plated. He can be very strong on the lead and was being overlooked. Erik and his family fostered Barney and with having this gorgeous boy in their home for many months, they fell in love with him! Erik is still working on his training and he also has the company of Charlotte his greyhound sister and Caesar who is on foster. As we are going to continue to support Barney, he has become Daybreaks first sponsor dog. If you would like more information about the sponsor scheme, please give the kennels a call. Massive thank you to Angie for arranging a brilliant fundraiser and to everyone who came along and supported us and to all our fantastic volunteers x

Can someone help me please ? The other night there have been episodes of complete Mania , Craziness and running around the house it suddenly came on and I'm getting concerned , there have been no changes to food or diet , just this complete uncontrollable Maniac , I'm going out of my mind its totally crazy , it all seemed to start when Jeff booked tickets to see ABBA in London next year and I don't know what to do to calm him down , Any suggestions please ... Oh my lovely boy this is so sad. I must admit that you are a very strong & lively boy, so we need to work with you to teach you that you don't need to dash at life head on at 40 mph!!! You are such a sweetie, and you just need time to adjust to retirement and all that it entails. xx

I just love this sweet little girl. She is still in post-op recovery & cant go out on walks, but she doesn't seem to realise this!! Goodness me when the food bowl appears she can bounce so high!! you can't get her not to do it! Really hope it is her turn to find a sofa soon. xx

Pretty Holly is a very lively girl. She is sharing with Billy as they were kennelled together at their trainers, and he does look to her for reassurance. She is very friendly & bouncy, and loves a kiss. x

The lovely Billy is such a nervy boy, he really doesn't like traffic and gets quite perturbed by it bless him. Initially very reluctant & wary, you can see he would quite like to approach you but really doesn't think he should!! We just let him take things at his own pace, and he did start to relax a little, his tail untucked (is that a word??) and he accepted a fuss. Time & patience is the key for this very handsome boy. x

Daybreaks Diary!

Daybreaks is bursting at the seams!! It's a long time since we have had quite so many hounds in our kennels, but they are all such beautiful doggies - and we have red signs already - yay! It was an early start for Jo as she took Lady off to the Vet's to be speyed. Her partner Mikey was not a happy boy without his little lady at his side all day bless him. She was very wobbly indeed when Jo picked her up this afternoon, and just wanted to lie down. Mikey was so happy to see her, but a little exuberant for her delicate state! We have popped them in the big kitchen kennel & run overnight just while Lady recovers from the anaesthetic so they have a bit more room to manoeuvre!! Hope she feels better tomorrow. xx We managed morning walks in relays!, but the boys & girls spent some time in the runs this afternoons. Beautiful Annie may have been disappointed yesterday to find her red sign removed - but it's back again today - yay!! Well done pretty girl. x Preparations for Sundays Greyt Get Together are well under way, we have done what we can today but the sand run is so very popular & we must now wait until Sunday morning to finish off. Really hope it stays dry and that we can welcome lots of you and your hounds to have a look at the stalls, let your doggies have a go at sossidge bobbing, a snuffle in the doggy lucky dip or maybe have a mini pamper - all to raise funds for Daybreaks. Well my usual Friday glass of wine is waiting in the wings - here's wishing for a greyt weekend & hopefully some red or green signs by Monday. Whatever you're up to - stay safe and enjoy.
