Libby behaved perfectly on her visit to Elmdon Park today. She travelled well in the car was very calm on the lead and showed no reaction to any other breeds. Even ignoring squirrels!! I would think she'll be a wonderful addition to any home

Belle

Today is Belle's first gotcha day. A year ago this lovely girl came home with me. She settled in so well and loves playing with her sister spaniel Ruby. Its was so lovely to watch her transform from a kennel dog to a much loved pet in no time at all. She loves everyone and everything from large to tiny dogs and adores people, especially if they have food. She is not sure about cats having only seen them in the distance. Time to celebrate so its special favourite lily's kitchen dinner tonight and then the usual snuggles on the sofa to watch tv. I hope she remembers to give me a bit of room on the sofa! xx

Roxie
Over the Rainbow Bridge
We are absolutely besotted with Roxie, she is just a little beauty. Roxie has enjoyed exploring her new home, including looking in the kitchen bin to see what scraps she could find ????. We have realised just how much she loves her toys and as soon as we arrived home she was straight playing with them and tearing them to pieces ????. Roxie is brilliant on her lead...she saw a cat on her walk today but just carried on walking by with not a care in the world. Then she saw a little dog and wasn't keen and just barked at her but then decided she was just going to ignore the dog and carried on with a strut, minding her own business. Roxie has already claimed her place on the sofa. We are so pleased at how well she has settled in...It's like she has been with us for ages. We would like to say a massive thank you to all of you at Daybreaks Trust...Roxie has brought so much joy to our family xx

Daybreaks Diary!

Another very busy day which saw our handsome Mikey go home and our equally handsome Chino reserved! 🙂 Xxx Thank you so much to everyone for their help today. It was lovely to see Tia who did some work experience for us earlier in the year. She will soon be going off to University to study Animal Physiotherapy and we wish her well. Xxx Thanks so much to Elizabeth for taking Mikey for a trip to,the park this morning. He came back still smiling but a little worn out! We had several visitors to use the sand run and to collect items from Tiggy's Facebook sale. :)) Our chicken family is currently residing in one of the kennels as their own home has had to have a new floor. They seem very happy and were having a "chat" with Yvonne and I this morning, :)) They should be able to go home in a day or two. Xxx Xxx

Oakley (Mikey R)

I took Mikey to Elmdon Park today. Before we could leave though, he had to make sure that I was thoroughly clean by licking each bit of skin he could get to! He was in one of the runs with Lady and someone had to come on to hold Lady, as she too just wanted lots of fuss and it was making it impossible to lead Mikey up. Once we set off, he maintained a good pace and enjoyed having a good look around. He met larger dogs (Golden retriever and Collie) with no issues, but he was a little less sure of smaller ones. He met a few smaller dogs, but did lunge at them when they moved away. I am hoping that it was more curiosity than anything else, as when one of these dogs (Chihuahua sized) tried to sniff his bum, he stood stock still with neck craned around looking at it. I'm not entirely sure he knew what to do!! He just needs a few more trips to the park to understand his new life a bit better. Whoever this boy picks will be very lucky x

So nice to hear how Finn and Steve are getting on, finding out whose in charge of what and just generally adapting to one another, I always find it very interesting when a new inmate arrives, the fussy eater suddenly develops an appetite, they suddenly want a particular bed that they never used to bother about, they are so funny, but that's why we love our hounds so much. Keep up he good work Steve, looking forward to seeing your sign turn Green xxxxx

Daybreaks Diary!

Firstly, apologies for the late posting of the Daybreaks Diary for yesterday. I got home and my tablet was flat,once it had enough charge I was flat!! A massive thanks to everyone who came in to help yesterday. After cleaning, feeding and morning walks, sleeves were rolled up and many of the tasks we cannot normally get done were tackled. Windows cleaned, courtyard swept, hosed and scrubbed, the white exterior cladding walls of the kennel blocks were brushed down, bleached and scrubbed. Huge thanks to Steve and Sarah who came in to re-concrete the chicken house floor and also managed to patch up parts of the kennels outside area that were in desperate need of attention. Thank you both so very much. There were a few booking for the sand run in the morning. As there were no bookings for the afternoon the kennel dogs that could have a run had a blast running around and enjoying themselves. Highlight of the day was the homing of beautiful Roxie, she was currently out longest stayer. She was very excited to be going home as was her new owner! I have spoken with her owner this morning and she has had a very settled night, been on a walk and met some new people and has been a good girl, wishing them happy times ahead. We are really looking forwards to being able to host our first open day since Covid struck, Tiggy's Greyt Get Together is being held in the sand run on Sunday 12 September between 10am - 2pm. Please come along if you can, light refreshments and doggie activities will be going on. As always, stay safe and well everyone. X
