Daybreaks Diary!

Well that was a crazy, busy day! For the first time in about 18 months we welcomed 2 volunteers from HSBC doing their corporate volunteer hours. They happily threw themselves into every aspect of kennel duties, and were soon under the spell of our gorgeous residents! This morning saw our beautiful little Annie reserved, fingers crossed everything works out for her. We had lots of visitors during the day to drop off bedding, have teeth & corns attended to and use the sand run. Morning & afternoon walks were done in some lovely sunshine. I had the pleasure of walking Molly, she is a sweetheart. She retired due to a tendon injury and after her walk she seemed to be favouring her leg a little, so we popped her in the magnotherapy box for a session. It took a biscuit to tempt her in!! but she soon settled and lay nicely for her session. Our 2 newbies were quite late arriving as they had been stuck in traffic on the M6! Two gorgeous black beauties but we are going to have some confusion - the big, black boy is called Mikey!!! Mikey & Lady came over from Ireland together 5 years ago and have been together ever since, they are a lovely couple who look to each other all the time. They were both good for their arrival checks and bath, although Lady was a little perturbed when it was Mikey's turn to go into the treatment room and she was on her own in the run bless her. They both tucked into their supper, and are sharing a kennel in the bottom block. Hope they have a good night and settle into a well deserved retirement. x Well I cant believe it but it's the weekend again - think the week is definitely getting shorter!! There are a couple of viewings booked so keep fingers crossed, and I shall be raising my glass of white wine later in the hope that we see a red sign by Monday morning. Happy Birthday to Warrior! He met a beautiful Greyhound girl who was visiting the kennels today. It was love at first sight. We desperately tried to get her owners to take him home....but not this time. I'm sure his forever home won't be too long coming his way. Xxx

A quick update if you missed my update on the FB Daybreaks chat group. Earlier this week I had to do two, one-hour walks with Caesar t ensure he was panting enough for me to be able to take photos of his tongue. I was pleasantly surprised, and belief his tumor has shrunk. I took a number of photos from different angles and reported back to the vet how he has been, shortly after treatment and over the last 10 days. The vet was also happy with what he could see on the photos and agreed with me that the tumor appears to have become smaller. the next appointment is on the 20th of August. Hopefully Caesar can finish his recovery and we can start looked for his forever home. That would be such a brilliant outcome for this loving young boy. Keep your fingers, legs, arms and paws crossed for him :-))

Daybreaks Diary!

Thanks to Denise, Dave, Pravie and Deb for their help this morning. Ruth was in first thing and then went out to look at something interesting that may be of benefit the kennels! This afternoon we also had Chris and Liz come in. We really appreciate everyone's help and hard work, it is very much appreciated. The very handsome Totsi went home today, lots of best wishes to him and his dad. We have two new arrivals due on Friday, plus it looks like good news for another of our residents that went out to see how he was in the home, everything crossed for him! Ruth was still busy with a mountain of paperwork when Dave and I left tonight, do hope she wasn't there too late. Again, hoping you all stay safe and well? X
