A quiet day for visitors for a Saturday. It gave Patric and Terrika time this morning to not only groom all the dogs but clean their teeth too! :)) I met our new arrival from yesterday, Warrior, what a lovely lad. He was a little shy at first but soon enjoyed cuddles. He is white and black but has lots of black spots too! So cute. Xxx I have been "helped" write this entry by Lyra who is lying next to me on the sofa...she keeps stretching her legs over the screen, so that I can't see what I am writing. Trying to get her interested in the Coverage of the Olympic Marathon but hasn't even opened her eyes!! :)) Thanks to everyone who came in to help today. The weather was a little mixed but not too bad . All the dogs enjoyed their walks. :))

Thank you Traciesheart. It was a pleasure if not a little scary! Beautiful little Purdy is an Italian Greyhound so she has much thinner legs than the monsters I normally deal with and I was seriously worried that I may hurt her. She was really not happy with having her nails done, her mom held her up in her harness and gave her a treat when I managed to cut them, she was still a little wriggley girl. Once done she readily accepted treats from me. Such a little sweetie. X

I brought my little Purdy in to have her nails trimmed yesterday. I was so pleased they managed to get all of them done as I can only do one nail every few days. Purdy is such a drama queen and you would think she thought you were trying to cut her legs off. So again I'm very pleased and a big thank you to Jo who did an amazing job with her xx

Was lovely to be greeted by a waggy tail from this handsome fella when we opened up this morning. He is still a little cautious, but in such a short space of time has come a really long way. He had a lovely clean kennel, tucked into his breakfast, and enjoyed a lean and a cuddle - well done fella. xx

Happy Birthday to 7 year old RubyRebel, who continues to be a wonderful and handsome hound. How lucky we are to have him. He has struggled a bit this year with a bad back but coped really well; no more zoomies but still plenty of walking and exploring to do.

Just to say Joe has settled really well - and I will ring and adopt him fully very soon, my working hours are mad at the minute but we haven’t pupnapped him. He has helped Jato no end, he came with us to the vets tonight- jato has to have most of the teeth she has left out soon.

Charlie seems to be calming down a little in the house now. He's still a bit of a shadow, but he is improving. While we were working in the front garden and he was left inside yesterday, he got fairly vocal, to the point a neighbour asked if he was ok, but we've popped out a few times for various reasons, especially today, and he's quiet when we're back, so I'm hoping that yesterday he was just objecting to not being involved. He loves his food and has been wagging his tail before his walks. He hasn't seen a cat yet. That's going to be interesting I think, but none of our previous four have been cat friendly either, so nothing new. He seems to be fitting in well. We just need to get him to sleep through, realise greyhound kennel breakfast time isn't the same as ours and cut the apron strings some more. Staying that, he's improved and he's only been here four days. He's a gorgeous lad.

Daybreaks Diary!

What a funny old day - we did morning walks in a steady downpour wearing raincoats, and afternoon walks in glorious sunshine and short sleeves!! This morning saw the arrival of the very handsome Warrior. Quite a wary boy, he behaved well for his arrival checks and bath, and really tucked into his lunch. Although he was quite scared of an approach on arrival, by the time it was time to get him out of his kennel for a walk he had started to relax already and he really enjoyed his walk, trotting along quite happily surveying his surroundings. Sure he will settle in no time. x Bono is still post op so couldn't join us on the walks, so spent another day outside in the feeding run watching the world go by. Now the magnotherapy box is fixed, little Annie had a session in there today to help with the healing of her broken wrist. She had to be tempted in with a treat - but once in she soon settled down. This afternoon saw the gorgeous Kevin go off to his new home - best of luck to this absolutely lovely boy, be happy all. x Between walks, a new arrival, health checks, weighings, visitors, a homing, cats & chickens the day flew by!! The weekend is here again, a quiet diary but that doesn't always signify........ Don't forget tickets are on sale for the Mike Stewart-Lawrence concert at the Dovehouse Theatre on 11th September, give the kennels a call to book yours. Well, as the sun came out and warmed things up I think it is a white wine kind of evening, so I will raise a glass later to our boys & girls - may forever homes be theirs very soon, and here's hoping all our recently homed boys & girls are settling in well.
