Those orange balls are fun! I took them out of this bowl with other things in. There were yellow things there too! I wanted the balls so I took them and played with them! Mummy came down to them on the living room floor. She said something about ‘oh no my oranges’. They have teeth marks in now… Hehe Monty Xx

Well it’s been a while and I’m not going to say it’s been easy but Woody is finally showing what’s underneath the surface. He’s still incredibly scared of the things that our other greys don’t notice. Today he put his head on my lap - what a milestone. I just know that one day he will be brave enough to let down his barriers but in the meantime and it doesn’t matter how long it takes we will continue to help his confidence, fluff up his bed and give him endless socks to chew (Harvs are his favourite) and love him because he deserves it. Thank you Kate for all your advice. We’d never give up on this very special boy xxxx

Daybreaks Diary!

What an absolutely crazy busy day! The best bit was seeing the gorgeous Bono reserved. Steve fixed our magnotherapy box and it arrived back today and I had Declan and Steve grouting the tiles in the kennel block. It has been non stop on the phone and with visitors - I seriously do not know what I would do without all the amazing volunteers who give up their time to help at the kennels. Thank you so much you lovely people! xxx

Daybreaks Diary!

Thanks to everyone for their help today. The weather was lovely so all dogs apart from Bono who is post op after his neutering yesterday had two walks along the shady lane. Liz took Mikey to the park, sounds like he had a fantastic time with all the new smells, sights and sounds and was a good boy. Bono spent much of the day in the outdoor feeding runs where he 'mugged' everyone he could for kisses and cuddles. Liz had several washes from him! We had a lovely new arrival, his paws barely touched the Daybreaks ground before he was viewed and reserved. Well done Burgers, if all goes well he will have a lovely greyhound sister for company! Cooper accompanied me to work today as he had the same trainer as Burgers. One of the first things his trainer asked was 'how's the big lad'? I think he was pleased to know I had brought him with me today and spent some time in the office with him. Cooper seemed happy to see him and certainly enjoyed the attention. Well the weather looks like its on the turn over the next few days. Stay safe and well all. X

I spent some time sitting with Bono today, as he couldn't go out for a walk. He is such an affectionate boy and loves to give out kisses and cuddles. He is going to make a fantastic pet xx

Gorgeous Mikey came with me to Elmdon Park today. He walked very well and loved the park. I think he may have sniffed every blade of grass!! We met a handful of dogs of all sizes. He was fine with all of them and greeted them politely. He has such a silky, shiny coat and I love his ears. For most of the walk his left one was laid flat and the right one was standing up on full alert. Such a handsome boy xx

We went for a look in the kennels this morning, as we're missing having a greyhound, and Ruth brought Charlie to our attention. Anyway, he was brought out to us by Norman after his walk and he worked the charm offensive on us and he's home on foster to see how he gets on. He is a bit clingy but it's early days and it didn't help that I had to go out to work an hour after he got back. We were sorting some paperwork out upstairs not long ago and he lay on a mat in the hallway waiting for us to come down but he was quiet. Andy was here this afternoon and says he did settle after a while after I'd gone out and at one stage was lying on his bed with his legs up in the air. We'd hoped to walk him when I got back but we had a mini-monsoon for an hour so he just made do with the back garden. Andy fed him without any problems, he's been clean - so far - and been out for both functions. We took biggest part of an hour to get home with him because we got stuck in traffic on the motorway and apart from one brief get up, he travelled lying down and without any fuss in the boot. He seems to be quite a bright boy and takes his treats gently, especially considering he clearly loves his food. Hopefully, he can get past his understandable uncertainty in a new environment and settle over the next few days.
