The funniest thing on planet earth is when we are out people say "Greyhound they must need loads of exercise" , I now respond with the daily life of a greyhound. WAKE UP " where's my breakfast , where's my breakfast where's my breakfast " at 42.5 and a half miles a minute Then its wee wee time "OUT GO ON OUT" ( squat poo wee in 23.7 seconds , maybe 23.8 my phone isn't that accurate) then its 42.5 and a half miles an minute up the stairs onto my bed zzzzzzzz SLEEP zzzzz 3 hours later (and a struggle to do it) they open one eye look at the clock and say "Have you not gone to work yet"?

    I’m Homed

Hi Jetlucy - in the Daybreaks Daily Diary for Thursday we reported Barney sadly getting his tail trapped in a car door which broke it badly and he therefore had to have a section amputated the following day. He is at Daybreaks today as we are desperate to find him a new home. He is a great boy but sadly not small dog or cat friendly x

Millie is sadly back at Daybreaks after going out on foster on Thursday. She would suit being homed with a male greyhound. She is such a pretty girl with only 4 teeth. She is good with other breeds. If you think you can offer a home please get in touch on 0121 7827702.

  • Daybreaks Diary!

    I’m Homed

What a scorcher! The boys & girls managed a short potter down the shady lane early this morning, when there was also a lovely breeze, but by lunchtime it was far too hot to venture out so we filled all the paddling pools and rotated the doggies in turn for a cool down and a relax by the pool! I popped cotton sheets on all the beds as I made them this morning in an attempt to give the doggies a cooler surface to sleep on, although Billy seems to prefer the floor anyway. Not much else happened today as it was just too hot!! The washing dried in double quick time, and there was only 1 health check for the handsome Mr Mikey. He is such a lovely boy, and when it was his turn out by the pool, after Chris had poured cool water gently over him, he decided he had to return the favour and proceeded to cover her in licks!! We have left the residents with the fans on in both blocks tonight. The weekend is here again, and it is a busy one by the looks of the diary! Lots of appointments for viewings, and the photoshoot and Reiki sessions on Sunday so lots going on. The forecast is for more hot, hot weather so take care everyone and keep yourselves and your hounds cool. It's chilled white wine time later, as I raise my glass and keep my fingers crossed for some red signs by Monday. As always, stay distanced and stay safe - cheers! Angie x

  • Daybreaks Diary!

    I’m Homed

The day started early and sadly with me collecting Millie and Harry from their home as their distraught owner had to return them due to personal reasons. With a car full of their belongings I then picked up Dave and his greyhound Maisie who wasn’t impressed at two others being in the car so we had ‘grumbles’ all the way to the kennels! Superstar volunteer Yvonne was ready and waiting to get started and we fed and cleaned the inmates! One of the trainers kindly brought along two very gorgeous greyhounds... one fawn (Lord) and one black (Burgers) so we could’cat test’ and both passed with flying colours! The couple who came to view were absolutely lovely and despite the interruptions, they placed a reservation on the gorgeous Phoenix- yay! Little Millie the returnee was viewed and went straight out to foster while Lucy did a pamper session and then took some gorgeous photos of those needing homes. We had some donations brought in which I will list on Tiggys fundraising page on Facebook. Search for Tiggys fundraising page if you haven’t already.... there are some great items for sale and the Honesty Box charity shop is back open at Daybreaks too. After digging out a corn for limping visitor Felix I went with Alan to fill up the van with fuel ready for the trip to south London for Caesars first treatment. Caesar who has a mast cell tumour on his tongue was due to go on Monday but unfortunately his appointment was canceled last minute. I’m absolutely overwhelmed at the generosity and support of everyone to raise the money to fund his treatment at around £4,000. A very loud scream was heard from the car park and next thing we had poor Barney who had come with Erik to collect the van brought in with blood pouring from his tail.... it had got in the way of the car door as it was shut!!! I splinted his tail and he was taken off to the vets while I got Lee to clean up the blood!!! It was an unfortunate accident and I remember doing this to Foxy! Barney is back to the vets today and will probably lose his tail as it was badly broken when I splinted it. Fat Harry brought in Harry for nails to be trimmed and he wasn’t impressed with me but he had a nice ostrich bone for a treat bought for him. I dropped Dave off who had agreed to foster Harry until he finds a home and as he and Maisie had spent the day in the office together she was quite happy to travel with him in the car! The weekend is packed with viewings, homings, a photo shoot and dog and human Reiki sessions.... proceeds of which are going to Caesars treatment fund so if you would like to book as there are a few places left please call the kennels. Ruth x
