so far so good! we brought Ava (nee tippie) home today and she has been amazing, she seems very settled - sleeping on the sofa at the mo : ) she has been sprawled on the floor unfazed by our two noisy girls, Lily 4 and Apphia 9months. shes responding to commands and treats very well, so far no toilet misshaps - fingers crossed this continues. shes been very affectionate, even kissing the baby better when she cried. she did manage to steal some of lilys food and is very interested in all our 'stuff' : ) im relieved she seems so relaxed already. all may change as we try and settle her for her first night but we are praying she continues to take everything in her stride. we are not expecting perfection but so far we are very impressed Rach (Ava's new, and proud, mum)

  • Chelsea

    I’m Homed

Hi everyone just an update on chelsea , she has settled really well ,she is so relaxed and quiet but also has her playfull moments she absolutly loves her teddies in fact any soft objects such as scarves and slippers can often be found on her bed , only one scary moment which we were aware could happen and something we are being more vigilant about she seized the opportunity and ran out the front door and had quite a sprint luckily round the back into a cul de sac, still being quite unfamiliar with her name she did not respond to being called however she dodged round my son and ran back home ! thank goodness for that ,I think I will be popping into the kennels the next weekend or so see if I can get some info on the classes that are held just so we can both learn a few basics , even though she gave us a scare we are aware it was natural instinct for her and she has us wrapped round her fingers already we love her to bits ( my daughter has already bought her christmas presents which she has sniffed ou already so they have had to be hidden ha ha ) If anyone would liketo see some pics of chelsea I haveadded them on the perry barr retired greyhounds trust page on facebook x x

    I’m Homed

I feel so sorry for Edith..... she really is getting depressed..... she sampled home life for a few weeks and apart from one incident where she had jumped up and knocked one of the kids over, she had been brilliant. Her kennel mates around her are being homed and she just needs to find a happy home - someone to love her and play with her.......

Smokey met another breed of dog yesterday - very fluffy..... and he was brilliant. His size is putting people off as he really is a very big boy - but all the more to cuddle eh?!

  • Lady (Georgie Girl)

    Over the Rainbow Bridge

Lady is coming to live with us and we are looking forward to her becoming part of the family. She has met Benjy also a rescue and they seemed to get on fine. Benjy is very tolerant and a really funny ha-ha dog, we are sure they will gel very well. Incidentally we are renaming Lady to Georgie Girl. Tim and Maggie + Georgie Girl and Ben.

  • Stig (Matt)

    Over the Rainbow Bridge

Mattie deserves a great home after what he’s been through. When he was racing he broke his leg in lots of places and had to have pins either side of his leg, but he was so brave it was untrue any other dog would have cried so much but not Matt. He is fine on his leg now and doesn’t take any notice that ever happened, and is as bright as ever! He can be a little bit naughty and vocal at times but knows his place when you tell him off, but he gives you the puppy dog look and your heart melts! Good luck little Mattie. x

    I’m Homed

Mikey is such a lovely looking and natured dog. I love this dog the most out of all the dogs in the kennels I work at, I know you shouldn’t have favourites but once you see him and get to know his personality he will prove himself. I just wish I had a bigger house to house this giant boy! But he deserves the best home in the world, someone to love him and look after him! I’m going to cry so much when he leaves! Good luck my lad. x

  • Sidney

    I’m Homed

Coming up to the end of his 3rd week with us. What can I say - he is a dog that gives lots of love and demands it back. He is great with the cats but the oldest cat wont go near him. Apart from the odd accident he is fine in the house. Out for walks he is really behaved, a bit skittish when a noisey motorbike goes past. We have noticed when at home if anything goes missing like mobiles, slippers, specs etc - you will always find them in Sidneys bed - what a thief but nice with it. He is always doing new things, took him to our friends paddock and let him off the lead, but he didnt stray far and came back to us when we called him.
