Wow, was it cold today! Brrr...we kept the kennel doors closed and with the underbed heating on it felt quite cosy inside. :)) Our lovely volunteer Yvonne came in today. Very sadly she broke her arm a few weeks ago and has had to stay at home....but she came in for a few hours and was back to helping with everything, we had to keep reminding her to take it easy! :))) Yvonne, Louise and I took Alex, Hollie and Dizzy for a walk along the lane this morning. Yvonne had my Skip as he is nice and easy to walk. :)) None of them seemed to mind the snow showers and wind chill factor!! Can't wait for spring to arrive! :)) Xxx

Florence, how lovely to hear from you! Sorry to hear you have a sist but not a sister! Do hope you are all keeping warm in this very chilly weather. The woolly puppies are very cute! Good job they have their woolly coats to keep them warm. Really hope we will get to see you all in the spring. Lots of love Kate Xxx

Hello Auntie Kate, mom said you liked updates so I thought I’d write to you. I had to go to the V.E.T last week as mom found a lump on my leg. Apparently I’ve got a sist, I was hoping that an ‘er’ was going to the end of the sist but it didn’t happen. I did get my booster though as they won’t do them here at the moment but as I was already there I had it done, only 2 weeks late! There are white woolly puppies being born here now, they look cute but mom won’t let go and play with them! I hope that soon we’ll be able to come and see you all and maybe we can sneak a sibling back home with us that TC won’t notice. Lubs you lots. Florence xxx

So I went for my boosters today! I was a very good boy and I’m a very healthy dog! No problems at all. Even though I didn’t like it there! Christian was very nice though.... It was strange as I had to go on my own without daddy! I was rather happy to see him standing outside waiting for me afterwards. I’ve received a package for Valentine’s Day off the lovely Florence! Can’t wait to see what she has got me! I’m so lucky thank you! I also sent her something! Hope she likes it. Also it can’t be a story without some drama! Yesterday I decided to bark and whine for my dinner as it was late. The problem was mummy was on a zoom call at the time so I asked them too. They didn’t do it though. Luckily my lovely sister did it for me! I love her! Lubs Russ

Daybreaks Diary!
I’m Homed
After such a fantastic day yesterday it meant there were only three dogs in the kennels. Today it was justmyself and Dave, unfortunately Lynne and Simon who are normally in on Sunday could not make it, Simon has been a little unwell (not covid)! The sand run was fully booked, apart from that we managed to get some things done. Washing up to date, Pets at Home donation put away (sort of)! Dizzy had an outing to the park with Liz_Beth and was a very good boy. It is always interesting and equally important to know how our inmates behave in yet another new environment. Thanks so much to Liz for taking him out on a walk where he could see more of the big wide world. As always stay safe and well. I am still trying to defrost after today's very chilly temperatures!

Dizzy
I’m Homed
Gorgeous Dizzy came to Elmdon Park with me today. He is such a patient boy. Not only did he stand extremely patiently whilst I figured out of how to put the harness on, only to establish it was too tight and to start again with a new one, but he also put up with me singing ' I'm so dizzy' repeatedly!! He was a good boy on the walk and whilst initially a bit fazed by dogs running around him, by the end of the walk he came nose to nose with several breeds with no reaction. There was quite a lot of activity around the lake with lots of people and dogs. He was quite bewildered to start with and didn't know where to look first, but soon settled down and took it in his stride. He is a very sweet, gentle boy. Fingers crossed he gets his forever sofa soon xx

How lovely to read such a brilliant update on the beautiful Wendy. Delighted that she continues to bring such joy & happiness to her family, especially during these very difficult times. I remember this very timid little girl well, and am so happy that she is flourishing. xxx

Jim
I’m Homed
Well Jim has come right out of his shell at home, he was a little stoic at the kennels, on guard and taking everything in. It turns out when you get him into a home he melts into the most affection loving and inquisitive soul! He seems good on walks, just a little excitable when he sees the other dogs off lead. He also seems to be almost grasping the concept of house training already, he knows to go to the back door but has had one little accident over night. Overall he’s a lovely protecting brother who is secretly a little softie! Fingers crossed for cat introductions later xxxx

Rosie
I’m Homed
Well as we all probably expected, Rosie has been an absolute angel since we picked her up. She is the most loving and naturally well behaved girl in the house! She’s a little bit timid when she has to decide what she wants to do for herself but so far it’s coming down to either fuss or snuggling up with Jim in bed, fingers crossed for cat introductions later on xxxx

Wendy
I’m Homed
During these difficult times I thought it good to give a further update on Wendy. She is now such a confident and happy dog, always 'smiling' and absolutely adores her 'sister' Jinky! She is a real joy and brings much happiness day by day. It is hard to believe that she ran some 80 odd races, particularly when you see her curled up on the bed for the most of the day. Someone was definitely looking over both myself and Jinky on the day that we decided to adopt her. I do hope that Ruth and all the staff at daybreaks are able to continue to give these wonderful dogs a most loving home.
