It was lovely to hear how Viola is settling in to her new home. Her mom is besotted with her. She has found all of her beds around the house and has managed the stairs. She has been so well behaved. I have been promised another update next week!

2019 Daybreaks Diary!
I’m Homed
Monday is not my usual working day, but I was covering the kennels whilst Kate is on holiday. Thanks to our wonderful group of volunteers for their help. Topper was due to be neutered today, unfortunately he has had an upset tum so he had a reprieve and antibiotics. I had an unscheduled vet run this afternoon with his kennel mate who also had a bad tum, she was due to be neutered tomorrow, but again a reprieve and more antibiotics. Better to be safe....So poor Elmer has had his op brought forward to tomorrow, sorry mate! I had a call after we left, lovely boy Tom has been reserved already, he will have a beautiful greyhound sister to live with. I think this will really help to bring him out of his shell and her too, she recently lost her brother. Thanks for the donations of bedding, always gratefully received.

So pleased to take this gorgeous boy out for a walk this afternoon. He was very good on his lead, maybe a little bit apprehensive when a noisy lorry went past at speed but was soon reassured. He's a very good lovely boy. X Xxx

Cindy’s owner here, she settled really well last night, already learnt how to get up both flights of stairs. Very cheeky little character. Her brother and sister absolutely adore her and just want to constantly play. Exciting times ahead! 🙂 Rhi,Blue,Belle,Cindy X

Thanks to everyone for their help today, we were short of volunteers but all the residents had either sand run fun or a stroll along the lane. Thanks so much to Dave for giving the car park and driveway a good tidy up. Sadly Tom was returned this morning, he settled back quite quickly in his kennel, Bella spent some quality time with him this afternoon. Once he has seen you a few times he gains more in confidence. Cindy went home too this morning, she has l lovely greyhound sister and brother. I think we will have to call them the 'blue' family. Thanks for the donations of bedding and sardines, the hounds are so grateful, as are we! We had a couple of visitors for the sand run, and one for nail cutting. Hoping Kate is enjoying her well deserved and looked forward to holiday with John and the 'kids'! This means I will not be covering my usual working days but will be covering Monday and Saturday this week. Which brings me on to..... Saturday, our 'Let the stars shine again' memorial evening, this is being held between 7pm to 9pm. Tickets are on sale at the kennels at just £5.00 each. This includes a jacket potato as well as a beautiful tealight holder and candle to light in memory of our Rainbow Bridge hounds. This is being held in the sand run and parking is at Birmingham Exiles Rugby Club, you can the access the run via the gate adjacent to their car park. Last year was a lovely evening, lots of memories and funny stories were told. Some nice rose wine now being consumed, cheers one and all.

Am so sorry lovely boy but thank goodness you are back before you really settled. Look at the experience like a small holiday. At least you have had a change of scenery and the right owners who are able to commit will be out there to love and cherish you. Big cuddles coming next time I see you. Xx

2019 Daybreaks Diary!
I’m Homed
Well, what can I say about today? Everything went quite smoothly for the first time we have looked after the kennels. Firstly thank you to Angie, for getting everything started before we got there this morning which meant that we had all the girls and boys cleaned and fed by 10 o'clock. Several volunteers came in today (mostly previous and new work placement students) which meant that all the dogs got both morning and afternoon walks. It was really quite pleasant down the lane in the shade today. It was lovely this afternoon to see Penny now Viola go off to her new home. She was a bit upset about not getting her dinner but I am sure her new home will make up for missing a meal. Topper and Cleo had a fun this afternoon as well, they managed to remove the entire contents of a pillow, their kennel looked just like Christmas. Nice to hear that Kate arrived safely on her holiday and hope she has a lovely time, the boys and girls will be well looked after while she is away. I would now like to echo Angie's sentiment and say I will raise my glass of wine to more red signs later, but I've already done that.
