I’m Homed
Today was very busy. After last night's very successful 'Let the Stars Shine Again' evening I was a little concerned that we would not be able to clear the sand run for bookings this morning. Thanks to a dedicated team the run was cleared last night, thanks again all. It was a very long but successful day. So, this morning we had a booking at 10am for an hour. It was a beagle birthday party. I don't know exactly how many were there, but it was a lot!! Cassie a pamper booked with Lorna and then she had a turn in the run (Cassie not Lorna). Enzo the gorgeous lurcher also came to use the run. We had a queue forming to use it!!! Fortunately he was happy to wait whilst his mom and dad had a hot drink. Thanks to everyone who came in to help today. The dog's had lovely walks this morning and sand run this afternoon. Handsome boy Tom now Ted went home, I received a call this afternoon with an update on how he was doing. After an initial 'he has been a nightmare' to my response of 'oh no, you are joking' I was told they were joking and he has been really settled and was being a very good boy (don't do that to me)!!! We had some visitors to view the dogs this afternoon, hopefully their interest will go further than just a viewing. Lovely to see Meg who had a bit of a health scare recently , thankfully she is ok. Such a worrying time for her mom. Not so happy having her nails cut today, bless her. Thanks too for the donations of bedding and raffle /donation table items, always gratefully received. There were some leftover potatoes from last night, so they were enjoyed by many of us at lunch time, mine got all cold and eaten by someone else, thankfully there was one left! Thanks once again to Maggie who stepped in last night at short notice to help with preparation and serving. Thanks again to Seana for her amazing homemade cakes and chilli. Lots of lovely coments regarding both. What an amazing amount raised, thanks one and all. X Now it is wine o'clock! Xx Another week upon us. More red and green signs please! X

Grayson (Topper)
Over the Rainbow Bridge
Well we were missing him a bit (having only seen him yesterday) so we accidentally found ourselves once again at the kennels! Grayson decided we would go for a walk to Kingsbury, He is getting better at jumping in and traveling in the van, We had a lovely walk and he met a lovely whippet who had a very responsible mommy so they were introduced carefully. They sniffed and wagged tails and were so good xxx There were so many sights and sounds to experience and ducks, we may need to do some work with ducks 🙂

I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who came along last night to support our Let the Stars Shine Again evening. Thanks to your generous support we raised the magnificent sum of £513.38 - amazing. It was such a lovely evening, and I would also like to thank Asda who generously donated all the potatoes for the evening, and Seana for her lovely chilli & cakes. xx

So today is my 3rd Gotcha Day. I have had ‘toad in the hole’ with veg and cheddar mash for my dinner - yum yum! Mom and TC say they love me very much. Mom is worried today as my tail has started bleeding again, she says she knows I haven’t done anything to it. I am at the vets tomorrow hoping that all is ok. Lubs to auntie Ruth, hope you are better soon. Florence xxx

What a beautiful day it was today - wall to wall sunshine. Thanks to our gang of students and volunteers, the doggies enjoyed 2 good walks in the sunshine. Our crowd of helpers today also meant that we could get on with preparations in the sand run for our remembrance evening event tomorrow. We have sold almost all our tickets, yay, thank you to everyone who is coming along to support us. The weather forecast is good again so it promises to be a lovely evening. You can light your candle and this year we have special message cards you can complete to go with your candle ifyou wish. One of the prizes in the raffle is a fabulous Richard Skipworth design martingale collar kindly donated by Lynne Male. Tommy was a happy boy today as he was allowed lunch again! Elmer's post op period ends tomorrow and I am sure he will be delighted to be able to get out on a walk with his pals again - he really isn't a happy boy as he watches them all troop out of the gate without him! A quiet day for visitors - but a busy weekend ahead! On Sunday we have our Brueton Park walk, if anyone would like to take a kennel dog to give them a bit of a break and a new experience, please give us a call on 0121 782 7702. Many thanks for everyone's help today, we all enjoyed the sunshine and we got lots accomplished. As another weekend is upon us, and as the sun is shining, the white wine is in the fridge for me to raise my glass in my usual toast later - forever homes for our beautiful boys & girls. Have a great weekend one and all,and hope to see some of you tomorrow night. Cheers! Angie xx

Hello. Wendy's new owner here. You will be amazed by how well this little girl has settled in with her new friends. She is becoming more and more self-assured each day and loves following my other two greys around. She discovered how comfy the bed is earlier this week and now spends each night curled up on it!! Life of luxury!!

Sorry for the late update, due to traffic didn't get in until after 6:30 and needed to be back out by 7:30 so if my memory works here is a round up of yesterday at the kennels. Another bit of drama at the start of the day, thinking we had been locked out again, but we got in eventually. Thanks to all the volunteers who came along which meant that all the boys and girls got two walks today. Elmer was a little disappointed as he is still on bed rest, but he cheered up after a nice groom and a little wander around the outside of the sand run. Tommy was also a bit upset today, unfortunately he was a bit sick after his breakfast so we decided it might be best not to give him lunch for his tummy to settle, he certainly made his feelings known vocally when lunch time arrived. Lovely to see Ben now Billy off to his new home this morning. He is certainly a well wanted addition to his new family and has two lovely pussy cats as new friends. Thanks Jo for coming in to do the homing. Welcome to our two new work placements, both enjoyed their day and are looking forward to their time at the kennels. Richard and Declan got the gazebos put up ready for Saturday evening, hope the weather stays fine and the evening is successful. Well that's all for now, I think the kennels and the boys and girls have all survived us looking after them for a few days for the first time and really look forward to seeing Kate back next week. Hope she has had a lovely holiday and enjoyed her time with her boys and little Lyra.
